Michigan State football has extended an offer to an in-state athlete that's trending on the recruiting trail.
Mylan Griggs of Detroit announced on Sunday that he's received an offer from Michigan State. Griggs -- who is listed as an athlete -- announced the scholarship offer from the Spartans via a post on social media platform X.
Griggs plays for Michigan high school powerhouse program Detroit Cass Tech, and is a member of the 2028 class. He is listed at 6-foot-0 and 160 pounds.
Griggs is not yet ranked or rated on 247Sports or Rivals. But his interest on the recruiting trail would suggest he'll be a highly-rated prospect in due time. According to 247Sports, he now holds offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), USC, Wisconsin, Army, Kent State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Southern Miss, UMass, Temple and Toledo.
Michigan State has picked up a lot of steam on the recruiting trail in recent weeks in their 2026 class efforts. Hopefully, that'll also translate to the 2027 and 2028 classes with prospects like Griggs.

Alabama 4-Star Commit Shuts Down Recruitment

Alabama 4-Star Commit Shuts Down Recruitment originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Alabama Crimson Tide football program has eight "commits" for the 2026 class. Although verbal commits, also known as hard commits, are nice, players cannot sign a letter of intent until their senior year during one of two signing periods, meaning those pledged to Alabama for the 2026 season are in no way, shape, or form locked into their oath. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer© Matt Pendleton-Imagn Images Despite the new standard in the NIL era, which is to expect the unexpected with verbal commits, 2026 four-star interior offensive lineman Chris Booker is likely to hold firm with his commitment to head coach Kalen DeBoer and Alabama. Advertisement On Sunday, Booker shut down his recruitment, per On3Sports. A top 20 interior offensive lineman, per 247Sports, Booker verbally committed to Alabama in mid-February. Despite his pledge, he has since taken official visits to the University of Florida Gators and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. It appears the Georgia native was unmoved by the other two programs, effectively shutting down his recruiting. He also has offers from the Ole Miss Rebels, UCF Knights, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Kentucky Wildcats, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Western Michigan Broncos, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Hapeville Charter High School product is part of a 2026 Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting group that also features fellow four-star offensive lineman Samuelu Utu. Advertisement The Tide is yet to earn a commitment from a five-star prospect in 2026, according to the On3 rankings. Alabama has signed at least three five-star recruits, including 2025 blue chip superstar quarterback Keelon Russell, each season since On3 began ranking in 2021. Undrafted rookie RB thanks Steelers for opportunity — looks to prove Tomlin, Khan right

The Steelers' 2025 NFL Draft haul may have been impressive — but one of Pittsburgh's undrafted rookies is ready to make a similar splash. Before throwing the first pitch at last Thursday's Reading Fightin Phils game, undrafted rookie RB Max Hurleman thanked the Steelers for taking a chance on him (courtesy of Reading Eagle's Jared Montalto): "Thankful to a really good organization like the Pittsburgh Steelers,' Hurleman said. 'I can't thank them enough — Coach (Mike) Tomlin, [Art] Rooney, [Omar] Khan — for just affording me this opportunity, and I'm going to make them right in their decision.' According to the Steelers' website, Hurleman rushed for 814 yards on 194 carries in 51 collegiate games — 23 of which he started. He also made an impact in the punt return game, accumulating 353 yards on 49 punt returns. Hurleman could follow in the footsteps of Steelers RB Jaylen Warren, who went undrafted in 2022 and has since proven that draft status is just a label.
