Celebs win £150k for Unicef on The Chase Soccer Aid special

Lianne Sanderson, Dion Dublin, David James and Shaun Williamson took on Darragh Ennis on the special show for Soccer Aid.
After four rounds where all four celebrities made it back, and the final chase, they took home an impressive six-figure sum for charity.
Fans have taken to social media full of joy after what was described as a "superb" win.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one said it was a "magnificent total", with the quarter getting a head start of more than 20.
Another said during the show: "This is the best episode of #thechase I've seen, they have to win this."
A third said: "Superb result guys, well done Sean."
Another added: "Wow what a well deserved win … such a great team! £150K."
The celebs set an impressive 23 score for Darragh "The Menace" Ennis to match in the final chase, which he was unable to do.
Gracious in defeat, he said while he would normally be disappointed, the team deserved it.

Some fans, however, wondered if the Irish-born chaser went easier on the team due to it being a charity special.
One person on social media described it as "a gift".
Another said: "Since it's for charity, do they make the questions easier and the chaser throws it in the end?"
"Darragh too is playing for Soccer Aid," another joked.
A third posted a picture of Darragh with the caption: "This man just let £150k go to Unicef. What a gentleman."
How to watch Soccer Aid
Soccer Aid will take place on Sunday, June 15, and is being shown on ITV1, ITVX and STV, with the program beginning at 6pm and kick-off scheduled for 7.30pm.

It was revealed almost exactly a year ago that Lawrence, who took 18 wickets in five Tests for England between 1988 and 1992, was the latest sportsperson to be diagnosed with motor neurone disease. The announcement was in the same month ex-England and Leeds rugby league great Rob Burrow died after a long battle with the incurable illness, which progressively damages parts of the nervous system. A statement from Lawrence's family given to the PA news agency said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Lawrence MBE following his brave battle with motor neurone disease. ''Syd' was an inspirational figure on and off the cricket field and no more so than to his family who were with him when he passed. 'A proud Gloucestershire man, Syd took on every challenge with everything he could and his final contest with MND was no different. His willingness to encourage and think of others right up to the end was typical of the man he was.' As well as his six outings for England – having played a lone ODI against the West Indies at Lord's in 1991, collecting four for 67 – Lawrence bagged 625 wickets in 280 matches for Gloucestershire. A strapping fast bowler who was renowned for being one of the quickest on the county circuit, Lawrence began to establish himself in Tests and a five-for against the West Indies in 1991 helped England seal a series-levelling win at the Oval, with Desmond Haynes and Viv Richards among his haul. Former England fast bowler David 'Syd' Lawrence has died aged 61, following a diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND) last year. The former Gloucestershire and England player was diagnosed with the condition in June following what he thought would be a straightforward operation on his knee. Gloucestershire Cricket say they're "deeply saddened" to announce his passing. It said: "In his final year, Syd faced motor neurone disease with the same courage and determination that defined his cricketing life." The club also shared a statement on behalf of Mr Lawrence's family. It said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Lawrence MBE following his brave battle with Motor Neurone Disease. ''Syd' was an inspirational figure on and off the cricket field and no more so than to his family who were with him when he passed. A player known for his 'thunderous run-up' Born in Gloucester on 28 January 1964, David Valentine Lawrence made his debut for Gloucestershire at just 17. Over a 16-year career, he became a club icon, Gloucestershire Cricket says, known for his thunderous run-up, fearless fast bowling, and ever-present energy. He formed a formidable new-ball partnership with West Indies great Courtney Walsh and delivered countless memorable performances. He played 170 first-class matches for Gloucestershire, taking 477 wickets at 31.27, including a best of 7 for 47 against Warwickshire. In one-day cricket, he claimed 148 wickets in 110 appearances, with a standout 6 for 20 against a Combined Universities XI in 1991 - the third best return in Gloucestershire's 50-over history. In 1990, Lawrence took a memorable hat-trick against Nottinghamshire in a fiery spell that saw him finish with 5 for 51. His county success earned him England honours. In 1988, he became the first British-born black man to play Test cricket for England, making his debut at Lord's against Sri Lanka. He went on to become a nightclub owner, a competitive bodybuilder, and a leading advocate for inclusion and diversity in cricket. First black President of Gloucestershire Cricket In 2022, he was appointed as the first black President in the history of Gloucestershire Cricket - a title he held until the day of his passing. The presidency was a significant and emotional return for a man who had given so much to the county, and who continued to champion its future. In 2025, he was awarded both an MBE for services to cricket, and an honorary ECB Life Vice Presidency - recognition of not just his playing career, but his work in the community and courage during his illness. Following his MND diagnosis in 2024, Syd remained open and defiant. In collaboration with cricket writer Dean Wilson, Syd published his autobiography, 'In Syd's Voice', using assistive technology to dictate his story. The book was widely praised for its honesty, humour, and strength, and it became a vital part of his legacy - capturing the personality and drive that had always set him apart. Syd became a powerful rallying figure across cricket, with events, charity matches, and donations pouring in from around the world. The Pink 4 Syd match at Bristol was both a celebration and a farewell - a night when cricket honoured one of its true characters. Chief Executive Officer at Gloucestershire Cricket, Neil Priscott, said: 'Everyone connected with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club will be devastated with the news of Syd's passing, and we send all our love to his incredible family and friends. 'The executive team at the Club were of course aware of his fine record as a one-county man but we all got to truly know and love him as our current President. "He was so passionate about the power of cricket and how our sport can touch people's lives. "Syd pushed us to reach out to communities far and wide and we shall continue to do that in his honour. "Friday night's 'Pink 4 Syd' match was a fitting tribute to a Gloucestershire great, and we are very sad to have lost someone so special.' As a club, we will support them in any way we can. 'Syd was truly a Gloucestershire great, both on and off the field. 'On retirement, he continued to be heavily involved with club, and was both a supportive and active President. He will be hugely missed.' The bizarre Celtic transfer act of Said Hamulic as striker finally set for Premiership switch

The Tannadice outfit have agreed a season-long loan deal with Toulouse Said Hamulic has never been one to shy away from headlines but Jim Goodwin will be hoping it will be his goals for Dundee United that will have everybody talking. United have agreed a season-long loan deal with Toulouse for the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker and that deal could be finalised in the next 48 hours. ‌ The 24-year-old has been with the French side for two years but has struggled to make his mark and after disappointing loan spells at Vitesse, Lokomotiv Moscow and Widow Lodz he will be looking to get back on track with Goodwin's Euro-bound squad. ‌ Hamulic is no stranger to Scotland as he was on Celtic r adar back in 2023 before he made the move to Ligue 1. The Dutch-born forward had come to the fore after a goal-filled loan spell at Polish side Stal Mielec. Hamulic, who had been loaned out from Lithuanian side Dainava to Poland, netted an impressive nine goals and pitched in with four assists in just 19 appearances. It made him hot property and the player certainly thought he was close to sealing a move to Celtic. A bizarre 'Said Hamulic, welcome to Celtic video' with a show reel of his career highlights was briefly posted on his Instagram account before it was quickly removed. A few weeks later, it was Toulouse who sealed a deal when they agreed to pay £2million to land him. ‌ The Bosnian never got his move to Scotland at that point but is finally set to get a crack at the Scottish Premiership in the tangerine and black of Dundee United. Hamulic moved to Toulouse in the January of 2023 but made just nine appearances and failed to net. He did end up with a Coupe de France winner' medal, as an unused sub as Toulouse beat Nantes 5-1. ‌ The frontman then made headlines as he was one of three players at Toulouse who were alleged to have refused to wear a rainbow flag on their club shirt, which was part of a campaign by the French Football Federation. Zakaia Aboukhlal was left on the bench while Moussa Diarra and Hamulic were left out of the squad for the match against Nantes. The 2022-23 season was to finish on a high as he got his first taste of international football with Bosnia and Herzegovina. ‌ He won the first of his six caps against Luxembourg in that June. There was the hope that could help spark his career in Toulouse the following season but he was sent back to his country of birth and a loan spell with Vitesse to try and get him to rediscover his form. It didn't go the way either side hoped. He failed to score in 14 appearances and in January his loan was terminated. ‌ Hamulic, though, always remained confident and Goodwin will be hoping that continues at Tannadice and also seeps on to the pitch. Hamulic said: "I don't know if I will stay in Toulouse. 'I don't know what the plans are and what will happen. When I get home, I'll think about it. ‌ 'It was a difficult season for me, also mentally. 'But when you look at my career, I always come back stronger. This will also be the case next season." ‌ He went to Lokomotiv Moscow but played one game as his loan was wrecked by injury. Last season he went out on loan to Polish side Widzew Lodz but again injury curtailed him. He netted once in 13 games and also pitched in with three assists. The goals haven't exactly been free-flowing for Hamulic since he moved to France. ‌ But if they had, then he would have been out of United's financial grasp. Goodwin, along with fellow new striker Zac Sapsford, is now going to give him an opportunity to get back to his best. It is quite similar to Sam Dalby. Before he came up on loan to United, he had hardly had a prolific strike rate but ended up amongst the Premiership's top scorers. Goodwin will be hoping Hamulic can do something similar.
