Zendaya's iconic reaction to Diana Ross 'upstaging' her on Met Gala red carpet
Diana Ross made a fabulous grand entrance at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday night – and one star who was sure to let that happen was Zendaya.
The Marvel actress, 28, who wore a custom Louis Vuitton three-piece white suit for the occasion, was seen patiently waiting on the carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art behind music legend Ross.
The I'm Coming Out singer, 81, was attending her first Met Gala in over 20 years, having last graced the famous steps in a red gown in 2023.
For 2025, Ross oozed glamour in a crystal-embellished floor-length gown, paired with a white satin feather-trimmed cape with a dramatic 18-foot train that was embellished with the names of her five children and eight grandchildren, according to Vogue.
She finished off her look, which was designed in collaboration with her son Evan Ross and Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie, with a matching wide-brimmed white hat, fully covered in feathers, and chandelier-style drop earrings.
Ross wowed many an attendee at the prestigious fundraising event, and that included Zendaya. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJSgANGy5_0/
In a clip captured from the carpet and shared on social media, the star was praised for quietly standing back and looking on admiringly while Motown icon Ross, who rocked Glastonbury with her set in 2022, had her moment in the spotlight.
She waited as Ross and her 36-year-old son Evan posed for pictures and then held back even as publicists and photographers directed her, beaming as Ross – let's face it – completely owned the event's blue carpet.
Zendaya also had a warm exchange with Evan as stepped out the frame to leave his mum to a few outfit tweaks and further photographs, touching his arm as they negotiated the photographers on the carpet.
'Zendaya is literal perfection – in class and style!' praised one fan – referencing her look and gracious behaviour – as @dinsycummins added: 'Zendaya is a gem!'

'Respecting your elders is what you're supposed to do. Brrrrravo, Zendaya,' chimed in Jenn Gee, as @melissa.tillery.311 observed: 'That's a class act.'
'I've never seen Zendaya pale in comparison to anyone but the one and only Diana Ross, now that's rarefied air right there,' commented Delia. 'She is legendary and she looked like a Queen. Zendaya looks amazing too.'
The two-time Emmy winner for Euphoria later had her own chance to shine on the carpet in her outfit, which beautifully reflected this year's theme of Superfine: Tailoring Black Style with a dress code of 'Tailored for You'.
She attended without fiancé Tom Holland, as has become custom for the couple, although the Spider-Man actor, also 28, was snapped leaving the hotel where Zendaya had got ready earlier on Monday.
He has never appeared at the event with her, with the couple avoiding attending each other's red carpets too unless they are in a project together – such as Sir Christopher Nolan's upcoming star-studded adaptation of The Odyssey. More Trending
He recently explained why to Men's Health, stating: 'Because it's not my moment, it's her moment, and if we go together, it's about us.'
It was instead more of a moment for Zendaya and the other man in her life – longtime stylist Law Roach, who has worked with the former Disney Channel star since 2011, when she was just 14.
Tickets for the Met Gala cost $75,000 (£56,227) per plate and this year's proceedings were hosted by co-chairs Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, father-to-be A$AP Rocky and absent LeBron James, who worked alongside Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

My marriage to Spencer Matthews nearly didn't happen admits Vogue Williams as she reveals secret dating tip for singles
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HER husband may raise money for charity and his brother is related to the Royal Family, but when it comes to the in-laws, Vogue Williams insists she is their favourite. The TV presenter married Spencer Matthews in 2018, and his brother James wed Princess Kate's younger sister Pippa Middleton the year before. 5 TV presenter Vogue Williams is a hit with her husband's family Credit: David Titlow - Commissioned by The Sun Fabulous magazine 5 Perfect match Vogue and Spencer on their wedding day in 2018 Credit: Instagram But in an exclusive interview, Vogue, 39, says: 'I am a firm favourite with my in-laws. I would say I'm even above the siblings.' Hers is a marriage that very nearly did not happen, though, because Vogue admits she once thought that Spencer, 36, was a 'sociopath'. He might now be a clean-living marathon runner, but in 2017, when they met on Channel 4 reality ski show The Jump, he was known for being a heavy-drinking party boy from Made In Chelsea. Vogue says: 'I kind of met him with a preconceived idea, and I was like, 'I'm not going to like him' because I thought he was a sociopath. 'But after I met him, I loved his personality straight away . . . he was so sound, but I was being really good at being single and I wanted to stay single, so I thought, 'He's going to be a really good friend' — that's the first thing I thought.' Fast forward eight years and the couple are now parents to Theodore, six, Gigi, four, and three-year-old Otto. 'I was feral' But in her new memoir, Big Mouth, Vogue reveals how life wasn't always easy for her growing up in County Dublin, with her parents Sandra and Freddie separating when she was five. And speaking to The Sun on Sunday, she explains how she found it tough when her own marriage to her first husband, Westlife star Brian McFadden, ended in divorce in 2017 — because she had never been single before. Vogue says: 'I was just kind of a relationship girl, and in a way I regret that. 'I was in a relationship from when I was 18 for six-and-a-half years, and then another relationship, and then after my first marriage ended, I made the conscious decision to try to be single because I'd never actually been on my own. Vogue Williams new book release 'I needed to be single. 'I absolutely hated it at the start, and then I loved it. 'I felt so in control of everything, and I was doing it on my own and I really enjoyed it. 'If you're a single girl in London, check out Battersea Park on a Saturday morning, and you can thank me later!' But Vogue admits she initially struggled to play the dating game. Laughing loudly, she says: 'I'm kind of a frigid. 'Before I met Spen, I'd meet someone nice and I'd kiss them, and I thought I'd be nice and invite them back to the party that was happening at my house. My parents were very strict, so we were always trying to find ways around that. Vogue Williams 'And we'd get back to the party, and they'd turn around to me and go, 'Will we go to your room?'. And I'd be like, 'Why? The party is here'. I never clicked that they were never coming back just for the party, but for other stuff.' However, Vogue's single days did not last long. She and Spencer tied the knot in June 2018 and she was firmly welcomed into the family fold by his multi-millionaire parents. Since then, Vogue has landed DJ gigs on Virgin Radio and Heart, and fronted segments on ITV's Lorraine and Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch. Meanwhile, Spencer is now sober, runs his own successful booze-free drinks brand, CleanCo, and last year ran 30 desert marathons in 30 days — all on sand. It set a new Guinness World Record and raised more than £500,000 for Global's Make Some Noise, which supports small charities across the UK. Between them, the power couple have more than two million followers on social media and their careers are going from strength to strength. 5 Vogue and Spencer in the Jordanian desert after Spencer's 30 marathons in 30 days last summer Credit: Jam Press 5 Pippa Middleton with Vogue and Spencer Credit: PA Vogue also reveals that her in-laws — landowner and entrepreneur David Matthews and his wife Jane — are role models who 'have been together for ever' and are still 'really happy'. She appears to have everything in life that could make her happy, too — but she says she has often struggled with the notoriously cut-throat showbiz world because she has never been 'cool'. Vogue explains: 'I think, in this industry in particular, there is nothing wrong if you are not in the cool gang. 'Let's say Kate Moss — she was in the cool gang back in the day, and I just feel I wouldn't have been, and I'm OK with that. 'Some people think that they are really cool and wouldn't give you the time of day. 'Sometimes they'd say hi to you at an event, and sometimes they wouldn't, and I've got to a point in my life where I really don't care if I'm not cool. 'I'm just grand where I am and I have got really good friends who are still in my life since I was 12, that I made when I was in secondary school, and they are actually what's most important in life. "My family are really amazing, and who I spend most of my time with. 'Spencer was raging' 'Then I come across people I love, and loads of people in the industry that I meet — they're sound. 'I was on Paloma Faith's podcast the other day and was really nervous because it's Paloma, but she was just fing hilarious and brilliant. 'She's pretty cool, so maybe I've got a foot in the door there!' Vogue has never fully left her Irish roots. For her book, she enjoyed reflecting on her life growing up. She says: 'I loved going back to my childhood and going back through all the things my sister Amber and I used to do. 'My parents were very strict, so we were always trying to find ways around that. 'There was a swamp around the corner that we always wanted to swim in, but we weren't allowed. 'We'd go to our friends' house up the road and their parents didn't give a crap what they did. 'So, we would go to their house and put their clothes on and swim in the swamp. 5 Vogue's in-laws David and Jane Matthews Credit: i-Images 'Then we would go back and put our own clothes on and act like nothing had happened. I was feral.' Soon, her own kids will be able to follow in her footsteps because she and Spencer are hoping to spend more time near her home town of Howth, Dublin, in a house the couple bought last year. Vogue calls it their 'forever home', and they have put their apartment overlooking the River Thames up for sale, too. They first listed it a year ago and have recently slashed the price by £1.3million to £3.9million. Vogue says: 'I like to take the kids home as much as I can — I want them to have friends in Ireland, so that they always want to go back, and they enjoy spending time there. 'I want them to know Irish phrases if they can. 'They got the free Irish passports, so they've got to work for it a little bit. 'They wouldn't give Spenny one and he was raging.' Chances are that Vogue made the decision to move because — even though she struggles to admit it — she likes being in control. She says: 'I think when it comes to wearing the trousers between Spen and I, it shifts. 'I don't think anyone wants to wear the trousers full-time, do they? 'I don't. My therapist did tell me I was controlling though, so I fing fired him!' But she admits: 'He was right — I do like controlling things.' It's clearly a quality that her in-laws admire.

With Emmy voting underway, Ramón Rodríguez wants to break barriers for Latinos on TV
A Latino actor has never won an Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, and 'Will Trent' star Ramón Rodríguez hopes he'll be the one to break that barrier. 'It's a sad and unfortunate reality,' the Puerto Rican actor said. 'It's not why I do what I do, obviously. But does it matter? Of course it does. Because what it does is it gives it a stamp of value.' 'It sort of says, 'Oh wow, this show is critically acclaimed,'' Rodríguez said. It would indicate that Latino actors can lead a television series with 'a compelling story and character.' In the history of the Emmys, only three Latinos have been nominated in that category: Pedro Pascal, who was nominated in 2023 for his starring role in 'The Last of Us;' Jimmy Smits, who was nominated five consecutive times from 1995 to 1999 for his performance in 'NYPD Blue'; and Jose Ferrer in 1953, when the category was just known as 'best actor.' From becoming a leading figure in reinventing police procedurals to starting his own production company 'to tell our stories,' Rodríguez is looking to make a difference at a time when few Latinos are leading TV shows. 'It is scary. ... I place a lot of pressure on myself in terms of wanting to continue to elevate,' Rodríguez said about the 'kind of unspoken' responsibility that comes with being part of the 4% of on-screen TV talent who are Latinos. 'Being Latino and Puerto Rican, there's no doubt that's something I'm very conscious and aware of,' Rodríguez said. 'I'm standing on shoulders of people who've paved that and made it a little easier for me. I'm hoping to make it a little bit easier for those who follow.' 'Will Trent' is based on Karin Slaughter's bestselling books of the same name. It follows a dyslexic orphan who endured physical trauma and abuse as he aged out of the foster care system in Atlanta. The character becomes an intuitive detective at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who solves cases others can't. 'Will is an underdog,' Rodríguez said. 'All of those things are very loaded, heavy, monumental kind of moments in people's lives.' 'I quickly fell in love with his resilience and his heart, which are kind of deeply buried. I love that about him,' Rodríguez said of his character. Will Trent's beloved sidekick Betty, a pocket-sized Chihuahua he reluctantly adopted in Season 1, is perhaps the one character who can always tap into the harsh detective's soft side. 'There's such a beautiful story there that sort of says so much about who Will is,' Rodríguez said. Despite mixed reviews from critics, audiences have shown up for 'Will Trent,' which will start filming its fourth season later this summer, according to Rodríguez. The series, which airs on ABC and streams on Hulu and Disney+, amassed an average of 11.6 million viewers across multiple platforms during the 2024-25 season, according to Nielsen, which puts 'Will Trent' among the 10 most watched TV shows on prime time. 'The writers do a fantastic job of balancing comedy and drama,' Rodríguez said. 'That's a hard thing to do.' As the actor who plays Will Trent and the show's executive producer, Rodríguez said he is heavily involved in every aspect of bringing this character to life. He recalled shedding his ' Nuyorican' accent to create a dialect reflective of his character's unique experiences and developing Will Trent's signature look: a retro three-piece suit that serves almost like a protective armor for a character who struggles to show his vulnerable side. 'He's very different than any other character I've portrayed, which is exciting,' said Rodríguez, who is also known for playing memorable characters in TV shows including 'The Wire,' 'Day Break' and 'The Affair.' Season 4 of 'Will Trent' is expected to air on ABC early next year, Rodríguez said.

'Coldplay's Chris Martin made me an offer on FaceTime but there was issue'
Hip-hop star Chiedu Oraka shared a video of the hilarious moment he was invited to support Coldplay by Chris Martin - but he was unwilling to accept until one stipulation was met Coldplay singer Chris Martin offered a Hull musician an offer he couldn't refuse, but there was one problem. Chiedu Oraka shared a video of the moment the 48-year old icon contacted him via FaceTime with an incredible request. "This is Chris Martin from Coldplay, am I catching you at a good time?" the star respectfully began. After confirming it was fine, Chris told Chiedu he "loved" his music and that his band would really like him to support them on their Music Of The Spheres tour dates at Craven Park, which are scheduled to take place in Chiedu's home city on August 18 and 19. "If it was Coldplay and Chiedu Oraka, we would just be so happy," Chris continued. "Would you consider it?" Seemingly undeterred, however, Chiedu quickly interjected to quip: "Chris, we're going to have to have a proper conversation - you are coming to my city, mate, and I can't have you pronouncing my name like that - you are butchering it. "I'm not having it - remember, you are coming to my city. Remember, if I accept, you are closing the show for me. How dare you insult me by butchering my name like that! Appearing to be taken aback somewhat, Chris put his head in his hands before attempting to pronounce the name once more. Failing, however, Chiedu continued: "No. I am only letting you close the show for me if you pronounce my name correctly." Adopting a Nigerian accent, Chris' third try appeared to go down much better. "Yeah - you even put the Nigerian twist in there," a laughing Chiedu hailed the effort. "So you'll do it?" asked Chris looking for confirmation. "You will let us close for you? Because as you know, there is no 'Hull' without 'u'." "I will let you close for me," Chiedu affirmed. "I like what you did there!" Meanwhile, Chris cheekily closed: "My name is Ch-ris - the 'h' isn't silent." Writing in response, one to the video call, one TikTok user joked: "You nearly stopped his big break there, love local artists supporting each other." A second shared: "Love how Chris is so cute and humble and can take a joke." A third wrote: "This is amazing! So happy for you! No Hull without U! Love it! He's a top bloke."
