Every
Dallas Mavericks
true fan would understand that the organization deserves a break after the hard-hitting Luka Doncic trade drama. And after the chaos, the organization secured a much-needed victory as they won the 2025 Draft Lottery, and the prize is astonishing— It is the number 1 pick,
Cooper Flagg
. Now, a new ESPN report revealed that Flagg is all set to visit Dallas.
Cooper Flagg is reportedly visiting Dallas
In a stunning turn of events that few could have predicted, the Dallas Mavericks emerged as the winners of the
2025 NBA Draft Lottery
.
'I saw the teams just like everybody else, but I feel like it was kind of a crazy sequence of events,' Flagg shared from the NBA Draft. "I was surprised like a lot of people.'
Now, according to
ESPN
's Jonathan Givony, 'All indications from Flagg's camp are that he is thrilled with potentially joining a playoff-contending team with strong veterans, despite initially appearing shocked by the lottery's outcome. Sources tell ESPN that Flagg is scheduling a visit to Dallas.'
During his one-and-done freshman campaign, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting a sharp 48.1% from the field, 38.5% from three, and 84% from the line. He also became just the fourth freshman in history to win the John R. Wooden Award, affirming his status as college basketball's best player.
Now, the Mavericks, who already boast a core built to compete deep into the postseason, are on track to add a player who brings elite defensive instincts, polished scoring, and playmaking vision.
Despite whispers around the league of the Mavericks exploring trade options, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that team ownership is fully committed to drafting Flagg and 'will not entertain the possibility of trading away the pick for a proven superstar.' This signals a confident and long-term vision from the Dallas front office, one that prioritizes building a sustainable championship core.
Flagg is reportedly happy to join the franchise. As ESPN's Givony noted, 'Flagg is said to be thrilled by the idea of joining a playoff-caliber roster with strong veterans and a team that has a void at the small forward position.'
