The
Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB) has clarified that Australian
Jason Gillespie
, who stepped down as head coach of Pakistan's red-ball team in December last year, has not been denied any payments, contrary to claims made in recent media reports.
Responding to these reports—which suggest that the former Australian fast bowler has approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is exploring legal options over alleged unpaid dues—a PCB source said the board has 'done nothing out of contractual obligations.'

'There was a clear contract between the board and Gillespie and the PCB is only acting on what is laid down in the contract,' the source stated.
The source further mentioned that all remuneration-related matters are being managed by the PCB's legal department in accordance with the terms of the contract.
Poll
How do you view the PCB's handling of Gillespie's payment claims?
They are being unfair.
They should negotiate a settlement.
They are following the contract properly.
Gillespie, however, has reportedly claimed that the PCB still owes him certain payments, including bonuses for winning a home Test series against England and an ODI series in Australia.
According to media reports, Gillespie has also reached out to the World Cricketers' Association (WCA) and is considering legal action against the PCB.
'He didn't give the required notice period as laid down in the contract and we are acting as per our agreement with him,' the source added.
Gillespie and
Gary Kirsten
were appointed as head coaches for the red-ball and white-ball formats respectively in April last year on two-year contracts. However, both coaches resigned within 7–8 months, citing concerns over their authority within the PCB setup.
Following their departures,
Aaqib Javed
was named interim head coach for both formats.

India vs England 2025 1st Test: Jasprit Bumrah in 'fast-forward' mode to greatness, says star India player

Jasprit Bumrah celebrates after claiming five wickets against England in the 1st Test at Leeds. (Photo: ANI) Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah claimed his 14th five-wicket haul to bowl out England for 465 in their first innings of the first Test at the Headingley in Leeds. It was Bumrah's 12th five-wicket haul away from home, equally the record set by former India captain Kapil Dev. Bumrah also has the most five-wicket hauls since he himself made his debut in Test cricket, surpassing Australian skipper Pat Cummins and Taijul Islam, who have claimed 13 five-wicket hauls each since the Indian pacer's debut. On 'Match Centre Live', JioHotstar experts Sanjay Manjrekar and Nick Knight analysed the standout moments — praising KL Rahul's near-flawless innings on third day, dissecting England's tactical plans against Sai Sudharsan, and lauding Bumrah's rapid ascent towards all-time greatness. Speaking on 'Match Centre Live' after the conclusion of Day 3 of the first Test, JioHotstar expert Sanjay Manjrekar hailed KL Rahul's near-flawless innings as 'perfection in motion' while praising Sudharsan's technique: 'We've seen KL Rahul play many good innings over the years, but I have to say — that knock was very close to perfection. Honestly, he didn't put a foot wrong. There were a couple of cover drives in particular that were absolute 10 out of 10 — even the harshest of critics would struggle to find a flaw. It was perfection in motion. There's a lot of responsibility on KL Rahul, and he's carrying it superbly. Touch wood, he's looking in excellent rhythm,' Manjrekar said. 'As for Sai Sudharsan, it was good to see him get some runs under his belt. He'll be disappointed not to kick-on because, as a batter, once you cross 30, you feel like you've assessed the attack and done the hard work. But that's where he's unique — very old-school in his approach. He plays the ball late, very still at the crease, no exaggerated trigger movement — just classic technique. That short-arm jab, the cover drive, even the straight drive… textbook stuff,' former India cricketer added. England's bowlers can't find a way past #TeamIndia's unconquerable fortress! 🔥 🗣 #NavjotSinghSidhu & #VarunAaron praise #KLRahul's outstanding technique & determination! Will he stand strong again on Day 4, or will England finally break through? 👀 #ENGvIND | 1st Test, Day… — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) June 23, 2025 KL Rahul's technique is tailormade for England: Nick Knight JioHotstar expert Nick Knight praised KL Rahul's tailormade technique for England. 'I just love watching KL Rahul bat. He's one of my favourite players to watch — such elegance, such control. I genuinely believe his style and technique are tailormade for English conditions. He gets into a solid stride, really gets that front foot close to the pitch of the ball, which helps him cover any lateral movement — something that's critical here in England. His balance today was outstanding. 'I noticed England tried to go a little fuller to him, maybe in an attempt to draw out the bottom hand and make him play through mid-wicket. But when they hit that in-between length, he was just too good — so much control, composure, and time. And overall, that partnership at the top was just excellent. Set the tone beautifully for India,' former England opener Nick Knight said about Rahul. Jasprit Bumrah's rate of notching up milestones is unbelievable: Sanjay Manjrekar Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar hailed Jasprit Bumrah and projected him as an all-time Indian bowling legend if he maintains this trajectory. 'He's in fast-forward mode when it comes to achieving greatness and reaching milestones. Just look at the number of five-wicket hauls he's picked up in England — and you think about how many legendary bowlers have toured here multiple times to get close to that. This guy isn't even at 50 Test matches yet. And if he plays all five in this series — although we're told he might be rotated — just imagine what those numbers could look like. The rate at which he's racking up those milestones is simply unbelievable. If he gets to 100 Test matches, and stays fit, we might be talking about one of the great fast-bowling careers in Indian cricket history. 'If someone asked me to pick India's best-ever seam bowler, just on pure skill and impact, I'd have to go with Jasprit Bumrah. Of course, we've had the legendary Kapil Dev. There's been Zaheer Khan, who was formidable in his own right. Further back, you had names like Mohammad Nissar — true pioneers of Indian fast bowling. But if I'm being honest, it would be difficult for me to not pick Bumrah as my number one. He's not just a match-winner, he's a once-in-a-generation talent,' Manjrekar added. Manjrekar said there is no bowler in the league of Bumrah in either side. 'Realistically, after putting up 471 in the first innings, what this young Indian batting line-up has already achieved is commendable. Now, if they can back that up with a second-innings total of around 350 or even 325 — and that's all speculative of course — it would still be an outstanding batting effort. That would set England a target in the region of 350-360, and you never know with this England side — they could very well go after it and pull it off in normal course. But here's the leveller: India have Jasprit Bumrah. And there's no bowler in this Test — on either side — quite in his league. If the pitch continues to dry out and starts turning more, India not only have Bumrah, but they also have Ravindra Jadeja coming into play. That combination can make life very difficult for England. Which is why I believe we're heading towards a very close Test match,' Manjrekar said.

Josh Hazlewood Prioritised IPL Over Australia? Pacer Responds To Stinging Criticism

Last Updated: In a column, Mitchell Johnson had raised questions over Josh Hazlewood's decision to play in IPL instead of preparing for WTC final. Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood says playing in IPL as part of his preparations for the ICC World Test Championship final was the right call citing the inclement weather back home after a stinging criticism from former teammate Mitchell Johnson. Australia suffered a five-wicket defeat to South Africa in the WTC final following which Johnson questioned the logic behind Hazlewood playing T20 cricket in IPL. He also criticised other senior Australia players indicating that a few of them might be sticking around just for an Ashes send-off later this year. The IPL was suspended briefly for a week during which Hazlewood, who represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru flew home. However, once the T20 tournament resumed, the 34-year-old returned to India and played a key role in RCB's maiden title triumph. 'We've seen concerns about Hazlewood's fitness in recent years, and his decision to prioritise returning to the delayed Indian Premier League over his national team preparations raised eyebrows," Johnson wrote in The West Australian. 'Our successful 'big four' bowling attack of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon can't be taken for granted as a lock going forward either. If veteran players are sticking around just for the Ashes as a send-off, it does beg the question of whether that's the right mindset. It's crucial that we embrace the future and build confidence in selecting our next Test players," he added. Hazlewood reasoned that it's difficult to replicate 'intense' match conditions in training. The Age. 'We know what's going on in inside our rooms. It seemed far and away the best place to get ready for any type of cricket that was coming up. The weather was definitely a factor as well. Just getting over there and playing intense competition like that, it's hard to replicate in training." 'Sydney, it was raining and I had literally nowhere to bowl. I got to Brisbane for three or four days and it was very wet. We were lucky to get on. I just thought the best place to bowl was India. We were still in the competition, we were going to play semis, and I was going to be there for 10 days. I think it was comfortably the best option," he added. First Published:

After war of words with Mohammed Siraj at Leeds, here's a few instances where Harry Brook has been at odds with India

On Sunday, Mohammed Siraj and England batter Harry Brook had a tense exchange of words in the middle after The Englishman had struck the Hyderabad bowlers for a couple of boundaries. While that face off ended fairly quickly, you couldn't help but notice that India celebrated a little too enthusiastically when Brook was dismissed for 99, holing out to Shardul Thakur off Prasidh Krishna's bowling. The uneasy relationship between the outspoken Brook and India isn't something new with the England white ball captain seemingly always at some sort of odds with the Indians. Here are a few instances: Brook pulled out of the Indian Premier League for the second year running after he said he wanted to concentrate on his national side. Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 Crore in the mega auction in November 2024. 'I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologise unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters. I love cricket. Ever since I was a young boy, I have dreamt of playing for my country, and I am extremely thankful to have the opportunity to play the game I love at this level,' he had said in a statement. 'I know not everyone will understand, and I don't expect them to, but I have to do what I believe is right, and playing for my country remains my priority and focus. I remain hugely grateful for the opportunities I have been given and the support I receive,' he had added. Due to this, the England player is expected to be banned from the IPL for the next 2 seasons. According to a new rule introduced by the IPL, 'Any player who registers in the player auction and after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season, will get banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for 2 Seasons.' Brook had also pulled out of the league in 2024 when he had lost his grandmother. 'Whilst I don't think I should need to share my personal reasons behind this decision, I know there will be many asking why. So I do want to share this. I lost my grandmother last month – she was a rock to me and I spent a huge amount of my childhood in her home; my attitude to life and love for cricket was shaped by her and my late grandfather,' he had posted on Instagram. This was also the reason he had pulled out of the India tour in January 2024. Brook had also irked a few people when he said that he was glad to shut the Indian fans who were 'slagging' him off before he scored his first century of the 2023 season against Kolkata Knight Riders, adding that he was glad he could shut them up. Before this century, Brook had not caught fire in the Indian Premier League, scoring 13, 3 and 13 in his first 3 matches resulting in a lot of chatter online about the Englishman's form. 'You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. There's a lot of Indian fans out there who'll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up to be honest,' Brook said after the match. The KKR connection continued in 2025 once again when after getting bowled for 17 runs by a wrong un from Varun Chakaravarthy in the first T20I in Eden Gardens between India and England, Brook had blamed the smog in Kolkata for England's troubles reading spin. 'With the smog the other night, it was a lot harder to pick. Hopefully the air is a bit clearer here and we can see the ball a bit easier,' Harry Brook had said ahead of the 2nd T20I in Chennai. In that match, Brook met a similar fate at the hands of Chakaravarthy again, who sent the then England vice captain back to the hut for 13 runs. This time when he was dismissed, India stalwarts Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri were in the commentary booth and did not pass a chance to bring up Brook's comments. 'You don't need the smog!' Ravi Shastri said when Brook was bowled. 'The ball just snuck through and hit the stumps.' After a short pause, Sunil Gavaskar joined in: 'Well you said it! The light is clearer here in Chennai. At Kolkata there was some smog. No smog here. No idea where the ball was going. It hit the top of the stump. Harry Brook gone for 13. Look, is there any smog there?'
