Jose Mourinho 'holds talks' with Son Heung-min as Fenerbahce chase Spurs star
Son Heung-min could end up leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Fenerbahce this summer with former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho eyeing up a reunion with the South Korea star
Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is keen to set up a reunion with Son Heung-min in Turkey, it has been claimed. Mourinho's Fenerbahce finished second in the Super Lig last season and are looking to strengthen as they aim to get through qualfiying rounds and reach the league phase of the Champions League.
One of those targets is South Korea forward Son. Spurrs triggered an extension in the 32-year-old's contract back in January, but his deal only runs until the summer of 2026 and the London club could cash in for the right price.
There have been Saudi Pro League links, though Son previously turned down a big-money offer to move to the gulf state. Now, though, reports in Turkey suggest Mourinho is ready to give the forward a way out.
Fenerbahce are expected to need to part with around £25million if they want to land Son. However, the player is said to be open to the switch.
Son played 70 times for Spurs under Mourinho, scoring 29 goals and adding 25 assists. He scored the first of his four Premier League hat-tricks under the Portuguese, scoring four of his team's five goals in a victory over Southampton in 2020.
Spurs have been busy in the early part of the transfer window, completing permanent moves for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel after successful loans. They also continue to be linked with Bryan Mbeumo, and a move for the Cameroon forward would leave them well-stocked in attack.
They have also made a change in the dugout, with Thomas Frank replacing Ange Postecoglou. Former Brentford boss Frank has spoken to club media for the first time since taking charge

'But he needs to know that he is now a marked man. 'You will play against teams and they will know if you take out Cole Palmer, you can nullify the way they play.
