#JusticeForGhita : Outrage in Morocco after four-year-old girl struck by SUV on beach
What began as an ordinary holiday turned into a nightmare for a Moroccan family living in Italy. Hoping for a peaceful afternoon, they chose the beach of Sidi Rahal as their destination, never imagining it would become the scene of a tragedy they would never forget.
On Sunday, June 15, around 3:30 p.m., four-and-a-half-year-old Ghita was playing in a small hole her father had dug for her in the sand. Laughing alongside her cousin, who was filling the hole with water, she lay there content while her father briefly stepped away to take a sip of water. In the blink of an eye, the joyful moment shattered.
An SUV driving at high speed along the beach, towing a jet ski, ran directly over the little girl's head. Her father, Abdellah, still visibly shaken, recounted the horror: «I was playing with her in the sand. I dug a little hole for her. I turned around just to drink some water, and then I heard a loud crash and screaming… I saw the wheels of the car and the jet ski pass over my daughter's head. I couldn't even move—my legs gave out. There was blood everywhere. Her jaw was displaced, her skull was open. I didn't think—I got into the same car that hit her and begged the driver to take us to the hospital. I was only thinking about saving her».
Critical condition
Ghita was rushed to the Dar Al Salam Clinic in Casablanca, where she underwent emergency surgery on her skull. The impact had torn the membrane protecting her brain, and she also required stitches near her eye. Her condition remains critical, her family says.
«I haven't been able to enter our home for a week», her father said. «She used to be the one who opened the door for me when I came home. I can't bring myself to walk through it. We're completely devastated. All I want is to have my daughter back and justice».
«She was lying in the hole, playing with her cousin. The moment he left to get water and her father stepped away, the car struck. They had to stitch her eye. Her condition is serious», her mother, visibly exhausted and heartbroken, added.
«The scene still plays in my mind. The car was going so fast. The jet ski it was towing hit her too. The doctor told us: 'We had to piece her skull together like a puzzle'», her aunt, also traumatized, said.
Widespread outrage
The driver, a 22-year-old man, was brought before the courts. However, comments made by his family and lawyer provoked public outrage after they blamed the father, accusing him of neglect for letting his daughter play alone in the sand.
«That hurt more than anything», said Abdellah. «My daughter is between life and death. My wife is destroyed. We have a one-year-old baby we haven't even seen in days because we've been at the hospital non-stop. We're homeless right now».
What further angered the family was what they described as pressure and intimidation attempts by the accused's relatives. «They came to the hospital and told us they have money, that we wouldn't be able to do anything as if they were saying, 'Let your daughter die, we'll buy our son's innocence'», Abdellah said.
The case has sparked national outrage on social media, with thousands rallying around hashtags like #JusticeForGhita and #WeAreAllGhita, demanding stricter laws to ban vehicles from beaches and to criminalize such reckless acts.
As the family clings to hope for Ghaitha's recovery, they remain in a state of shock, repeating one heartfelt plea: «We just want justice. And we just want our daughter back».

#JusticePourRita: Moroccans Demand Justice for 4-Year-Old Toddler After Tragic Beach Accident
Rabat – The #JusticepourRita is sweeping social media across Morocco, with Moroccans demanding justice, accountability, and stricter beach safety regulations. This comes after a four-year-old girl named Ghita was violently struck in the head by a speeding 4×4 towing a jet ski along the shore on June 15 in Dar Bouazza, an area in the Casablanca-Settat region. Ghita's family described the situation as a 'waking nightmare,' as their daughter underwent an emergency brain surgery the same day. As Ghita fights for her life, her condition remains critical. Ghita's father said the accident happened when he turned around for a few seconds to drink water, only to find his daughter motionless on the ground. Rushing her to the nearest clinic, the medical staff confirmed she suffered from severe skull fractures. 'I took my daughter and I asked the same person who hit her to drive us to a clinic. My car was far away and blocked by other vehicles,' the father said in an interview. The day after the accident, the suspect's family members visited the clinic to check on Ghita, the father said. 'One of my relatives: 'The guy who committed this crime should be punished.'' However, members of the suspect's family allegedly stated outright that nothing could be done 'because they have money.' 'It means that our daughter's life does not matter to them. They believe they can prove their son's innocence with money. I haven't gone to my house for a week.. I cannot go home,' the father said, in tears. The suspect's legal team has allegedly attempted to blame the father, accusing him of not watching his daughter closely enough. 'To my knowledge, the beach is for relaxing…It's a place where children should play comfortably.' 'Legally speaking, vehicles are not allowed on the beaches. Even authorities use horses to come to check on people's safety. We call for justice, nothing more than justice,' the father said. Many Moroccans have taken to social media to express solidarity with Ghita's family and demand justice. Some used pictures of Ghita in the clinic after the surgery, while others shared and posted the hashtag and prayers. 'Wishing good recovery for the poor girl… The culprit should be prosecuted, at least we know there is law and order in this country, and let her father get some peace of mind,' one commenter on C wrote.. 'This is heartbreaking,' another one wrote, while others called on the media to take the case seriously and speak up about Ghita's situation. Tags: Justice for iliassJustice for the French Monks

Paris court upholds life sentence for Mohamed Lamine Aberouz in terror case
The special assize court of Paris upheld the life sentence of Mohamed Lamine Aberouz on appeal this Saturday, June 21, imposing a minimum term of twenty-two years. The verdict confirms the initial ruling, which found the French-Moroccan defendant guilty of complicity in the murder of a public official, complicity in the kidnapping of a minor under 15, and involvement in a terrorist conspiracy. The double murder, which took place on June 13, 2016, targeted a police couple in their home in Magnanville (Yvelines). Now 31 years old, Aberouz was represented by lawyers Vincent Brengarth and Nino Arnaud, who confirmed to Agence France-Presse (AFP) that they intend to appeal to the Court of Cassation. Before the verdict was delivered, Aberouz addressed the families of Jessica Schneider and Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, the two victims killed by Larossi Abballa, insisting that he bore «no responsibility» for the attack and claiming that the assailant had «deceived» him about his jihadist plans. He also reiterated his «firm and absolute condemnation» of the attack. On the day of the murders, Jessica Schneider was killed in her home in front of her 3-year-old son. Her partner, Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, was stabbed nine times shortly afterward as he returned home. The attacker, Larossi Abballa, was a friend of Aberouz. Already convicted in a separate terror case, Mohamed Lamine Aberouz maintains that Abballa acted alone.
