#JusticePourRita: Moroccans Demand Justice for 4-Year-Old Toddler After Tragic Beach Accident
Rabat – The #JusticepourRita is sweeping social media across Morocco, with Moroccans demanding justice, accountability, and stricter beach safety regulations.
This comes after a four-year-old girl named Ghita was violently struck in the head by a speeding 4×4 towing a jet ski along the shore on June 15 in Dar Bouazza, an area in the Casablanca-Settat region.
Ghita's family described the situation as a 'waking nightmare,' as their daughter underwent an emergency brain surgery the same day.
As Ghita fights for her life, her condition remains critical.
Ghita's father said the accident happened when he turned around for a few seconds to drink water, only to find his daughter motionless on the ground.
Rushing her to the nearest clinic, the medical staff confirmed she suffered from severe skull fractures.
'I took my daughter and I asked the same person who hit her to drive us to a clinic. My car was far away and blocked by other vehicles,' the father said in an interview.
The day after the accident, the suspect's family members visited the clinic to check on Ghita, the father said.
'One of my relatives: 'The guy who committed this crime should be punished.''
However, members of the suspect's family allegedly stated outright that nothing could be done 'because they have money.'
'It means that our daughter's life does not matter to them. They believe they can prove their son's innocence with money. I haven't gone to my house for a week.. I cannot go home,' the father said, in tears.
The suspect's legal team has allegedly attempted to blame the father, accusing him of not watching his daughter closely enough.
'To my knowledge, the beach is for relaxing…It's a place where children should play comfortably.'
'Legally speaking, vehicles are not allowed on the beaches. Even authorities use horses to come to check on people's safety. We call for justice, nothing more than justice,' the father said.
Many Moroccans have taken to social media to express solidarity with Ghita's family and demand justice.
Some used pictures of Ghita in the clinic after the surgery, while others shared and posted the hashtag and prayers.
'Wishing good recovery for the poor girl… The culprit should be prosecuted, at least we know there is law and order in this country, and let her father get some peace of mind,' one commenter on C wrote..
'This is heartbreaking,' another one wrote, while others called on the media to take the case seriously and speak up about Ghita's situation. Tags: Justice for iliassJustice for the French Monks

Two Brothers Arrested in Visa Scam and Human Trafficking Case
Two brothers have been arrested in Casablanca over a visa scam that tricked women into setting up fake businesses, which were then used to buy cars on credit. Morocco's National Brigade of Judicial Police caught the pair, aged 35 and 40, on Friday. One of them is already known to the authorities. Police say the men lured women by offering to help them get Schengen visas for travel to Europe. But instead of travel documents, the women found themselves unknowingly listed as company owners. Their personal documents and cheques were used to purchase at least 20 vehicles, which were later sold illegally. So far, three victims have been identified, but police believe more may be involved. The case comes as Morocco ranks fourth worldwide for Schengen visa applications, behind only China, India and Turkey. In 2024, Moroccans submitted over 606,000 applications, despite growing frustration over the process. Many applicants say it's become nearly impossible to book visa appointments through official channels. Intermediaries have flooded the system, snapping up slots and reselling them for thousands of dirhams. Moroccan YouTuber Bilal Fraiha recently spoke out on social media, saying he was asked to pay MAD 4,000 ($400) just to book an appointment that's supposed to be free. Others say they've been charged as much as MAD 6,000 ($600). Fraiha urged the authorities to crack down on the black market in visa appointments, calling the situation 'unacceptable.' Meanwhile, police are still investigating the Casablanca case, searching for other suspects who may be linked to the network. The two men remain in custody as the inquiry continues. Spanish officer accused of exploiting Moroccan minors seeking asylum
The organization Don't Touch My Child revealed that a Spanish police officer exploited Moroccan migrants, including minors, in exchange for assistance with asylum procedures. The organization strongly condemned the acts, expressed full support for the victims, and affirmed its commitment to pursuing legal action in the case. The human rights organization Don't Touch My Child has strongly condemned what it described as «humiliating and unethical practices» involving a Spanish police officer. The condemnation comes after Spanish media revealed this week that the officer had been detained on charges of exploiting Moroccan migrants, including minors, in exchange for facilitating asylum applications or legal status adjustments. According to the organization, the officer, who worked in immigration centers in both Ceuta and the Canary Islands, held suspicious meetings in hotel rooms where he was staying. He allegedly targeted young Moroccans in vulnerable situations, offering help with their asylum procedures in exchange for sexual favors, gifts, or money. The Supreme Court in Madrid has since suspended him from duty for 90 days as a temporary disciplinary measure. Supporting the victims In a statement to Yabiladi, Taib Boucheiba, national coordinator for Don't Touch My Child, said: «The decision of the Spanish judiciary is not strict enough and does not match the gravity of the crime. The accused exploited minors in precarious situations, which constitutes human trafficking». He added, «We condemn this lenient decision». The organization denounced the acts as a violation of human dignity and migrants' rights, especially those of minors, and voiced deep concern over the lack of any formal criminal proceedings in a case of such ethical and humanitarian seriousness. Don't Touch My Child reaffirmed its full support for any victims wishing to come forward and seek justice, whether through national or international courts, stressing the need to protect migrant minors and uphold their human dignity. The organization also called for an urgent criminal investigation into the case, not merely an administrative sanction, and urged Spanish authorities to fulfill their legal and moral obligations to safeguard the rights of migrants, particularly Moroccan minors. In its conclusion, the organization stated that it is closely monitoring the case and will take all necessary steps to protect Moroccan children wherever they may be, particularly in reception and asylum centers. Boucheiba added that «this is not the first time Moroccan minors have suffered exploitation in Ceuta, Melilla, and the Canary Islands. What's different now is that this officer was caught». He explained that the officer allegedly offered to regularize the legal status of Moroccan minors by assisting them with asylum applications that falsely portrayed them as victims of persecution in Morocco. According to Boucheiba, the organization, with the help of supporters in Europe, has filed a lawsuit in Spain against the officer, and is urging Spanish civil society organizations to take such cases seriously and work to address them.
