Rajamahendravaram: Vehicular traffic on the main road between Nidadavolu and Tadepalligudem will be temporarily diverted from Thursday (June 19) due to the ongoing construction of the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Nidadavolu. This was announced by Nidadavolu Tahsildar B Nagaraju Naik, following directives issued by Kovvur RDO Rani Sushmita. As per the new traffic regulations, vehicles traveling between Rajamahendravaram/Kovvur and Tadepalligudem will have to use alternate routes until further notice. The changes are as follows:
Rajamahendravaram to Tadepalligudem: Vehicles must travel via I Pangidi and Nallajerla.
Tadepalligudem to Rajamahendravaram: Vehicles will follow the same route in reverse.
Rajamahendravaram to Tadepalligudem via Kovvur: Vehicles will be diverted through Vijjeswaram – Gopavaram – D. Muppavaram – Kanuru – Tanuku. Nidadavolu to Tadepalligudem: Vehicles must take the Korumamidi – Apparaopeta route. Authorities have advised commuters and transport operators to note these diversion routes and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Deputy CM to lay foundation for Akhanda Godavari Project foundation

Rajamahendravaram: The foundation of the prestigious Akhanda Godavari Tourism Project aimed at showcasing the historical and cultural magnificence of Godavari region, will be formally held on June 19, announced by State Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh. The ground-breaking ceremony will be jointly performed by Deputy Chief Minister Konidela Pawan Kalyan and MP Daggubati Purandeswari, with the support of the Central government, he said. The Minister conducted a field visit on Saturday to oversee the arrangements for the upcoming event, inspecting key sites like Pushkar Ghat and theHavelock Bridge alongside district officials. He issued directions to ensure the smooth execution of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Durgesh said the project is being taken up with a sanction of Rs 97 crore under the SASCI 2024–25 (Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment) scheme. The works will span across Rajamahendravaram, Dowleswaram, Kadiyam, Kovvur, and Nidadavolu, aiming for completion before the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu. He said that the project will significantly transform several locations in East Godavari district, adding new dimensions of beauty and improved tourist amenities. District Collector P Prasanthi stated that the 127-year-old Havelock Bridge, a heritage icon, will undergo beautification and modernisation. Proposed developments include waterfalls, glass bridges, a gaming zone, a space-themed park, an urban hot craft bazaar, hanging gardens, a hologram zoo, time travel experience zones, a rail museum, and an aquarium tunnel. These attractions are expected to position the location as a major tourism hotspot. The Pushkar Ghat will also be further developed, and both the ghat and the Havelock Bridge will be integrated into a single dynamic tourist destination, she added. Joint Collector S Chinna Rammudu, Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg, RDO R Krishna Naik, Rajamahendravaram City MLA Adireddy Srinivas,and District TourismOfficer P Venkatachalam participated.

(Representative Image)(Photo:X) Trichy is all set to get a brand-new cloverleaf-style flyover at Panjapur to help ease traffic jams on the busy Trichy-Madurai National Highway (NH). Tamil Nadu's Municipal Administration Minister, K N Nehru, shared the news during his visit to the city recently, as per TOI. The flyover, which will be 3.5 kilometres long and six lanes wide, will be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The design will be similar to the famous Kathipara flyover in Chennai. Land for the project has already been handed over by the district administration. What's Next? In addition to the flyover, work is already underway for a four-lane semi-ring road connecting Trichy to the Trichy-Karur National Highway. This will further help ease congestion around the city. NHAI officials confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared for the Panjapur flyover. They are also exploring several design options, including the cloverleaf model. Updates on Road Over Bridges (RoBs) When asked about the progress of the Maris Road overbridge (RoB) near Fort Station and the second phase of the RoB at Trichy Railway Junction, Minister Nehru said the state government has completed its part of the work. Now, it is up to Southern Railway to finish the rest. Metro Rail for Trichy Still on the Table Trichy could also get a metro service in the future. The proposal is currently being discussed, and a survey is expected to begin soon. The minister also spoke about the possible expansion of Trichy Corporation by merging nearby village panchayats. Public objections are being invited before the final decision is made.
