Honeymoon murder: Shillong Police arrest property dealer Silom James; here's how he helped Sonam Raghuwanshi destroy evidence

INDORE: A property dealer from Indore has been arrested by a police team from Shillong in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuwanshi. The suspect, Silom James, was taken into custody late on Saturday night from Mahalaxmi Nagar. He is accused of removing a pistol, Rs 5 lakh in cash, clothes and gold jewellery from a flat used by the victim and his associate Sonam following the murder. Police said a security guard is also under suspicion for allegedly assisting James. 'Silom James was arrested from Mahalakshmi Nagar by the Shillong police and taken for medical examination on Saturday night. He will be produced before the court and taken on transit remand,' said Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya. Investigators from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) raided James's home and took him to MY Hospital for a routine medical check before transporting him to Shillong. He is expected to be named as a co-accused in the case. The SIT has been conducting extensive searches in Indore over the past five days, focusing on a rented flat that Sonam used while allegedly evading arrest. Officers said they were searching for a bag hidden in the apartment that reportedly contained a country-made pistol and cash wrapped in clothing. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo Earlier, James had appeared before the media on 13 June, claiming he recognised one of the accused, Vishal, from news footage. However, CCTV footage obtained by the SIT appears to show him removing a bag from the flat in his car on 10 June. He is also seen installing security cameras at the building shortly after, which police believe may have been an attempt to obscure his actions. According to police, the flat was initially rented by James for Rs 17,000 per month on behalf of Vishal, an associate of the victim. Sonam later moved into the flat after returning to Indore. After several arrests were made in the city, Sonam is believed to have travelled to Ghazipur on 8 June, leaving the bag behind. Two days later, James allegedly used a duplicate key to enter the flat and take away bags, clothes, food items and other belongings.

'Abundance of caution': NYPD boosts security across NYC as US makes direct entry in Israel-Iran conflict; steps up protection of cultural and diplomatic sites

NYPD (Image credits: ANI) The New York City Police Department (NYPD) announced Sunday that it is deploying additional resources across various sites in NYC after the US launched strikes on Iran's three nuclear enrichment facilities. With the US now involved, concerns are growing about security in major US cities as Iran responded with fury to the strikes. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had earlier warned that American involvement would bring 'irreparable damage.' In a post on X, the department's official account said, "We're tracking the situation unfolding in Iran. Out of an abundance of caution, we're deploying additional resources to religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites across NYC and coordinating with our federal partners. We'll continue to monitor for any potential impact to NYC." The department informed it is sending more officers to religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites throughout the city in coordination with federal agencies. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the US had 'successfully' attacked Iran's Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan sites, with a 'full payload of BOMBS' dropped on Fordow, which he described as the primary target. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Install the Perfect Pool at Home – Start Here Backyard Pool | Search Ads Learn More Undo 'Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,' he added. The situation escalates ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran which began on June 13 when Israel launched "Operation Rising Lion," targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites. In retaliation, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale drone and missile strike, "Operation True Promise 3," targeting Israeli jet fuel production and energy infrastructure. With the US now involved, concerns are growing about the broader impact of the conflict, prompting increased security measures in major US cities like New York. Iranian authorities executed on Sunday a man convicted of being an agent for Israel's Mossad spy service, the judiciary said, as fighting raged between the two foes for a tenth day. "Majid Mosayebi... was hanged this morning after going through the full process of criminal procedure and after his sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court," the judiciary's Mizan Online website said, adding that he sought to provide "sensitive information ... to Mossad." Iranian authorities have carried out multiple arrests of people suspected of spying for Israel since its attack on June 13.
