ITV Midsomer Murders star makes huge career move after exit remark

Daily Mirror13-05-2025

Nick Hendrix, who has played DS Jamie Winter in Midsomer Murders since 2016, has lined up a new role
Nick Hendrix, best known for his portrayal of DS Jamie Winter in the hit ITV series Midsomer Murders, has snagged a fresh acting gig.
The 40-year-old star will star in an upcoming film with Isabel May from the Yellowstone spin-off 1883 and Archie Renaux of The Jetty fame.

In this new cinematic venture, Nick will share the screen with Riverdale's KJ Apa, who plays Jack, a commitment-shy individual caught up in a romantic tangle. Jack starts dating Jillian (played by May), unaware that his best friend Johnny (Renaux) is also smitten with her.

Deadline reports that the film centres on Jack, "quick-witted, charming, and avoidant, finally risks opening his heart when he starts dating Jillian; what he never expected was that his best friend Johnny would fall for her too."
While specifics about Hendrix's character Wheels remain under wraps, he is set to appear alongside Emma Laird, Sophie Simnett, and Alex Jarrett, as listed on IMDb, reports the Manchester Evening News.
A representative from Gulfstream Pictures expressed their enthusiasm to Deadline last July, stating: "We are very excited to work with this exceptional cast, including Archie, whom we've worked with twice before, and Isabel, Emma, and Alex, who bring an incredible energy to the project."
They continued: "We can't wait to bring this amazing story to audiences around the world."
Although Nick remains committed to Midsomer Murders, he has spoken about his future prospects in past interviews.

In a candid chat with Express.co.uk back in 2020, he expressed his openness to future opportunities: "I think, as ever, I would always say never say never, and what I would say is that there are so few negatives to doing it that it would be a really hard job to turn down."
He also shared his hopes for continued involvement, stating, "I'd like to think that I've done enough well now that they will always want me to be in it."

While discussing his career goals, he clarified, "So I can't imagine that I would say outright that I'd do it for the next ten years because that's not my career aspirations," but acknowledged the positive working relationship with Neil Dudgeon, who plays DCI John Barnaby, and the audience's preference for "consistency" over cast changes.
Neil Dudgeon faced speculation about his future on Midsomer Murders during an appearance on This Morning at the end of last year, following whispers of him being replaced.
Alison Hammond directly addressed the uncertainty: "I think the question on everybody's lips is, is this the end of DCI Barnaby?"

A surprised Neil responded with a simple "Why?" which led to Alison revealing, "There have been rumours that this could be the end."
Neil humorously retorted, "Somebody knows something I don't," and quipped, "Somebody is trying to get rid of me."
Updating fans on the show, Neil confirmed, "As far as I know, I am still here. We are shooting again next year, and the last I heard, I am in it, but I haven't read the script yet, so I don't know."

Love Island star Shaughna Phillips stuns fans with incredible weight loss photos

Former Love Island contestant Shaughna Phillips has been getting herself summer ready with a strict fitness and diet plan - leaving fans gasping over her impressive transformation Love Island star Shaughna Phillips won praise from her fans as she detailed her incredible body transformation. The 31-year-old reality star found fame in 2020 when she appeared on season six of the ITV show. Shaughna lasted over four weeks in the villa before she was dumped form the island - and in the years since has won a following for her no nonsense approach to beauty and social media. While many reality stars turn to surgery or use heavy filters on images to give an illusion of their appearance, the mum-of-one has shunned touching up her images. ‌ Now the star has won further praise by showing off her figure with impressive before and after photographs, revealing that she changed the shape of her body through a strict exercise regime. The ITV star posed in just her underwear in both images which she shared on Instagram. ‌ The before photo showed Shaughna posing with her arms at her side and with a warm smile as she stood in place to be snapped. The follow up images showed how her body had become more toned, while her pose appeared more confident. Sharing the details of her transformation, she wrote: "Let the record reflect, although I've dropped a few dress sizes, I will ALWAYS love a high waisted full brief. "However if you want to swap your full briefs for a cheeky Brazilian (the knicker, not a man that is) - we have a NEW OFFER on my Shreditplan nutrition and workout programme. It's now HALF PRICE - so a whole 50% off the 4 month plan. That works out at less than the price of a latte a week!" Shaughna then listed exactly what fans could expect what training and support to receive if they signed up to the plan. She revealed fans could expect: "12 minute combat workouts you can fit round your day. A nutrition plan that doesn't feel like a diet (yes we have beige food and alcohol on it!)." She added that vegan and veggie options would also be available, and those taking part could be granted group support sessions. She rounded off her post, writing: "Your summer shred starts now." ‌ Fans took to the comments section to marvel at the reality star's transformation. One wrote: "You look amazing, you've done so well." Another wrote: "You really do look amazing. I'm so tempted to sign up." A fan commented: "U look amazing" alongside red heart emojis. And a further fan typed: "You look happy with your new body that's all that matters lovely." ‌ Earlier this year, fans commented on Shaughna's changing figure, with many speculating that she may have taken weight loss injections to lose weight. However, she hit back at the suggestion, telling The Mirror: "I love food way too much," to ever even consider suppress her appetite with a 'fad' like weight loss jabs. ‌ "There's a new fad every other year. It just so happens that this is the fad this time around, and after I have lost weight. The thing is, it just coincided with the time when I had my daughter Lucia, and I had this baby weight and everyone was commenting on it. Had it of been a few years prior, everyone would have been saying I had a BBL, or some magical liposuction that completely transformed how I looked," she shared. She went on: "We're in the Ozempic season at the moment, and I can't help how people perceive me. I believe that Ozempic is an appetite suppressant, and those are not new. It's just essentially a new name for something that gives the same results. "This has been something that has been around for 20 or 30 years - it's just another pharmaceutical company that have been able to market it in this new way and everyone is freaking out over it. In a couple of years time it will be something else, mark my words." It is noted, however, that Ozempic is not strictly a weight loss injection as it is a medication designed to treat type 2 diabetes with weight loss an unintended side effect.
