Police in Durham Region are searching for a male suspect who allegedly attempted to stab two people in Oshawa on Sunday night.
The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on June 1 along Danzatore Path, which is in the area of Steeplechase Street and Windfields Farm Drive.
They say a man was walking along Danzatore Path when he allegedly approached two people walking in the opposite direction, pulled out a knife, and tried to stab them before fleeing.
Neither were physically injured, according to police.
Durham police and K9 units attended the scene and attempted to locate the man but were unsuccessful.
'The motive remains under investigation, and what led to the incident is still unknown,' Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said in a release.
The suspect is described as a Black male, between five-foot-eight and five-foot-ten, approximately 20 years old, and was last seen wearing a black Safari wide-brim hat, sunglasses, a grey hoodie, and a black Jansport backpack.
Police are asking anyone with video footage from the area to come forward or contact Crime Stopper anonymously.

Firefighters rescue occupants of sinking boat on Ottawa River

The Ottawa Fire Services say crews responded to the 2700 block of Cassels Street near Mud Lake at approximately 4:50 p.m. after a 911 caller reported to Gatineau firefighters that a boat had struck a rock shoal and was taking on water. There were three occupants aboard the vessel, Ottawa fire says. On arrival, crews found the boat had drifted through the rapids but was still afloat. A water rescue team was launched at the scene and everyone aboard was removed from the vessel by 5:06 p.m. Ottawa paramedics tell CTV News they were called to the incident but there were no reports of injuries.

Two motorcyclists suffer life-threatening injuries after head-on crash near Cornwall

Ontario Provincial Police say the crash happened on County Road 18 near Chapel Road, about 100 kilometres southeast of downtown Ottawa at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday. The collision involved the motorcycle and an SUV, OPP says in an email to CTV News Ottawa. Emergency responders, including Orgne Air ambulance, was called to the scene. Roads in the area remain closed as of Saturday evening and motorists can expect a 'lengthy' closure, police said in a news release. The public is asked to avoid the area as an investigation continues.

Ontario Provincial Police say they got a call at 2 p.m. for a collision in the area of Mayfield Road and Petch Avenue, west of McLaughlin Road. A young male riding a motorized scooter was struck by a westbound vehicle, OPP say. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. OPP say the driver did not remain at the scene.
