Agartala: Union power minister
Manohar Lal
appreciated Tripura's initiatives under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), particularly in power distribution and infrastructure modernisation for a reliable, transparent, and consumer-friendly energy governance.
Tripura power minister
Ratan Lal Nath
while addressing North-Eastern and Eastern States Power Ministers' Conference held in Gangtok on Saturday, said Tripura emerged as a front runner in India's energy transformation. He said Tripura's green energy vision is in perfect alignment with India's broader goal of transitioning to a low-carbon economy, which emphasises the state's commitment to renewable energy to pave the way for a cleaner and sustainable future.
Tripura became top among northeastern states and ranks third across the country in implementing RDSS targets and a reduction in Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses was specifically cited as a testament to the efficient management and commitment to reform mandates.
Additionally, Tripura ranks first in the northeast and third nationally for the installation of smart meters in households — a vital step towards building a modern and transparent power ecosystem, Nath said. He added, "Union power minister praised Tripura's leadership, calling the progress "commendable" and "a model for other states to follow".
Nath highlighted the need for continued central govt's support to further reinforce Tripura's power infrastructure. He sought a package of Rs 1,331.26 crore for an infrastructure development package recommended by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for implementation by 2031-32.

Centre-state mango relief: Karnataka growers to be paid for price fall on 2.5 lakh tonnes; price fall prompts joint compensation plan

The Centre and Karnataka government have agreed to jointly compensate mango farmers in the state for up to 2.5 lakh tonnes of produce after a sharp decline in market prices, according to an official statement issued on Saturday. The decision was taken during a video conference between Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Karnataka Agriculture Minister N Chaluvaraya Swamy, where the two sides finalised a joint compensation mechanism under a central government scheme. 'To address the drop in mango prices, the central and state governments will jointly bear the cost of the price difference and pay that to the farmers,' the Union agriculture ministry said. Union Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi also participated in the meeting. The relief will apply to 25% of the estimated 10 lakh tonnes of mangoes produced in the state this season, the statement said. Karnataka had earlier submitted a formal proposal to the Centre, citing a price crash in both tomatoes and mangoes, particularly the Totapuri variety. However, Swamy informed the Centre that tomato prices had stabilised since the proposal was submitted, and thus, no immediate intervention was needed for tomatoes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo 'Since farmers were receiving much lower-than-usual prices for Totapuri mangoes, it was decided that the difference in price from the usual market rate would be borne equally by the Centre and state governments,' the ministry said. Swamy thanked Chouhan for approving the move. 'This decision will support and provide relief to mango-producing farmers in the state,' he said. Meet Sachin Agrawal, brother of world's youngest female Chartered Accountant who topped CA finals exam at…, she holds Guinness World Record for…, her name is... Success in India's toughest exams—like JEE, NEET, UPSC CSE, CA, and SSC—is a journey that requires a combination of immense stress and great commitment. These exams not only test academic prowess but also test discipline, time management, and mental toughness. With lakhs of students sitting for exams every year, the path to success becomes narrower and narrower. More and more students want to clear the exam each year with the hope of success. But only a small number clear the first hurdle. As the process unfolds, the percentage drops significantly. At the end, only a handful have made it, and from there, just one candidate claims the All India Rank 1 title. In a world where passing challenging exams is a feat in its own right, only a few names pass the exams on the first attempt, while becoming stars in their own right. One of these incredible feats is the journey of Nandini Agrawal, an inspiring woman from Morena in Madhya Pradesh, who not only passed the Chartered Accountancy; she made history. At just 19, Nandini became the youngest female Chartered Accountant in the world. This is confirmed by the Guinness World Records. Nandini's inspiring journey is a huge reminder that age is no barrier to achieving greatness if you have focus, hard work, and a strong mindset. Born on October 18, 2001, Nandini Agrawal made history in 2021 by becoming ranked All India Rank 1 in the Chartered Accountancy (New) examination, a feat the India Book of Records recognizes. Nandini appeared for the final exam in July 2021, achieving the distinguished milestone at only 19 years, 8 months, and 18 days old. Nandini Agrawal's results were officially declared on November 29, 2021, and as such, she is not only one of the youngest Chartered Accountants but also one of the youngest to achieve All India Rank 1. Nandini Agrawal's story is the perfect example of how grit and concentration can help to break age-old records—quite literally. All India Rank 1 topper in the CA final exam at just 19 years old, Nandini scored a sensational total of 614 out of 800 marks. This achievement is made even more exciting as Nandini's older brother, 21-year-old Sachin Agrawal, passed the same exam, securing All India Rank 18. The sibling success story is a rare example of dedication to help one another succeed through the shared experience of working hard to achieve excellence in an academic environment. In 2021, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, also wished the remarkable siblings well. Taking to his official Twitter account, he wrote, 'Congratulations to the star siblings of Morena, Madhya Pradesh! Well done Nandini Agrawal for topping the all-India CA final exam and her brother Sachin Agrawal for securing the 18th rank. Best of luck for a bright future to both of you.' Their achievement was even more remarkable because the pandemic adversely affected the preparation of many other aspirants, gradually resulting in these dedicated siblings utilizing the time at home to study and revise for their exam. Nandini Agrawal completed her 11th and 12th grade studies in Victor Convent Higher Secondary School. She created history in 2021 by becoming the world's youngest female Chartered Accountant at the age of 19 years, obtaining All India Rank 1 in the CA Final examination by scoring 614 out of 800, which is 76.75%. When the previous results were declared, she was 19 years and 330 days old, which officially verified the Guinness World Record for being the youngest female Chartered Accountant. In a 2021 interview with The Indian Express, Sachin Agrawal, Nandini's brother, reflected on their journey together, saying, 'There were times when we fought like crazy but that only lasted for some time and we got back to normal. I would have been happy with even 70 per cent marks as I did not have high expectations but I knew that Nandini will do great. She's brilliant and deserves all the success. In many ways, she is my mentor.' Nandini and Sachin's father, Naresh Chandra Gupta, is a tax practitioner. Their mother, Dimple Gupta, is a homemaker. Nandini and Sachin attribute their success to consistent preparations and in their experience, encourage aspirants to be diligent with ICAI study material as it was key to their success in helping them to crack the exam as they have done. The statement on the official website of the India Book of Records reads,' The record for being the youngest Chartered Accountant was set by Nandini Agrawal (born on October 18, 2001) of Morena, Madhya Pradesh. She appeared for her final CA (New) examination in July 2021 and secured the 1st rank at the age of 19 years, 8 months and 18 days, as confirmed on November 29, 2021.'

Why are Target stores staff sharing early-morning shelf label photos on social media? ‘I feel bad doing all these…'

Prices are climbing fast at Target, and employees are taking to social media to show just how steep the hikes are. Target store staff are sharing early-morning shelf label photos on social media, showing big price hikes. One Target employee wrote on Reddit, 'I feel bad doing all these price changes when everything goes up.' Another added, 'I've been doing price change everyday for the past 4 months or so. Seeing everything going up all at once is really making me sad.' Target employees shares price of Paw Patrol toy that was $51.99 on May 29 and jumped to $101.99 by June 7—a 96 percent increase. (Pexels) In one post, a worker showed a Paw Patrol toy that was $51.99 on May 29 and jumped to $101.99 by June 7—a 96 percent increase. Another post revealed a box of Monster Energy drinks rising from $15.59 to $24.99, a nearly 38 percent jump, as per Daily Mail report. These price hikes come as retailers struggle with inflation. Still, the changes aren't completely surprising. Earlier this year, Target's CEO and others warned that tariffs from President Trump would drive up prices on many consumer items. Since then, more employees have posted labels online. In mid-May, a staffer shared a Heyday USB-C cable price label changing from $9.99 to $17.99—an 80 percent increase. Experts say price increases reflect careful planning, not just sticker shock. Retailers like Target use pricing data and competitive tools to avoid losing customers. 'Price changes are a constant in retail' Carol Spieckerman, president of Spieckerman Retail, said 'Price changes are a constant in retail and shouldn't be assumed to be nefarious. If Target is over-stepping or gouging, it will feel the pain quickly. Shoppers are smart and do research,' as cited by Daily Mail report. Still, these changes are worrying Target employees, who are also voicing concerns about the store's direction and declining profits. Other big retailers are seeing similar reactions. Walmart employees are posting screenshots from handheld scanners, showing thousands of price updates each week. 'Lately my section has been getting 5,000 to 9,000 a week,' one Walmart worker said, noting a 40 to 50 percent rise in changes. Also Read: Two popular products at Walmart recalled: What to know Rise in price in auto industry The trend is even hitting the auto industry. At Ford and BMW dealerships, leaked memos show MSRP hikes over $1,000. Subaru, Toyota, and Mitsubishi have also announced price increases. Unlike retailers, automakers are more upfront about cost changes—but that openness can bring trouble. Companies that blamed tariffs have faced criticism from the Trump administration. In May, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon warned that prices would rise because of tariffs—a comment that drew Trump's ire: 'Walmart should STOP trying to blame Tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain.' Amazon briefly thought about listing tariff costs on product pages, but White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called it a 'hostile and political act.' Now, both Walmart and Amazon have quietly raised prices without explanation. Customers should expect more price increases ahead. Spieckerman suggests that items like toys—where profit margins are thin—will see fluctuating prices. 'They're definitely a tariff-sensitive category that is in high demand for the holidays,' she noted. 'I expect prices will rise and fall based on aggressive promotions.' For workers on the front lines, this means more shelf label updates—and lots of shoppers wondering why prices have suddenly jumped.
