Free encroached land without delay, punish bullies: Yogi
Gorakhpur, Apr 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the officials to immediately clear encroachments on land belonging to the poor and take strict legal action against the culprits, warning that those who exploit the vulnerable will face consequences.
Speaking at the Janata Darshan held outside the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan at Gorakhnath Temple, the CM reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to justice and prosperity for every citizen, urging officers to act with transparency, impartiality and sensitivity.
During Janata Darshan, he heard the grievances of around 200 people. Among them was a distressed woman who shared details of a long-standing land dispute.
Assuring her, Yogi said, "Don't worry, your problem will be solved and we'll also take care of your journey home."
These compassionate words moved the woman seeking justice to tears. The CM immediately directed the officials to take swift action and assured her that justice would be delivered without delay.
As the woman expressed her gratitude, she also said she did not have the fare to return home. "Don't worry, you will be given the fare to return home," the CM said while directing the temple management to provide the necessary assistance.
He directed the officials to ensure speedy and high-quality resolutions of each of the people's issues. As in previous sessions, several individuals sought financial help for medical treatment.
Yogi assured them of full government support. Handing their applications to officials, he directed that treatment cost estimates be prepared promptly and submitted for approval. Some attendees had brought their children, with whom he interacted warmly, blessing them, gifting chocolates and asking about their studies.
He began his day with prayers at Guru Gorakhnath's shrine and the samadhi of his Guru, Mahant Avedyanath. He then visited the temple premises, performed Gauseva at the Gaushala and paused at Bhim Sarovar to hand-feed ducks.

Patna, Jun 21 (UNI) Dubbing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a "copycat" for imitating his promises regarding social security pension, the leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav said that scared of the possible return of the Grand Alliance (GA) to power Nitesh government increased the social "security pension in tension". He alleged that now the Nitish government increased the social security pension without making any prior provision for it in the budget. He questioned from where the enhanced pension would be given to 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries? An additional Rs 767 crore would be spent monthly for providing the increased pension. Dubbing the Nitish government as "inefficient", Yadav reiterated that he had provided 5 lakh jobs in a short span of 17 months of his tenure and 3.5 lakh appointments were under process. Taking pot shots at the Prime Minister's Bihar visit, Yadav alleged that over Rs 100 crore public money is spent on his every visit and added that in the last five elections, the Prime Minister has held more than 200 rallies and over Rs 20 thousand crore of hard-earned money of the people was spent by the government in the promotion of its party. Yadav further said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has told a group of journalists of Bihar that Nitish was on the post only till the elections, because JDU's Bhunja party ( evening snacks) people were running the party. Arunachal CM disburses Rs 19 Cr land compensation, meets troops along LAC
Itanagar, June 21 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday handed over compensation cheques worth Rs 19 crore to villagers of Chuna in Tawang district for land acquisition related to the Damteng-Chuna road project and for land acquired by the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Terming the compensation as a key step towards inclusive development, Khandu said, 'This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to ensure that development reaches even the remotest frontiers of Arunachal Pradesh.' The compensation disbursement followed the International Yoga Day celebrations held at Chuna, located at an altitude of 3,950 meters near the Indo-Tibet border. The programme was graced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and State Minister Kento Jini, along with senior officials from the district administration. Earlier in the day, Khandu participated in the Yoga Day programme with villagers and security personnel. 'As the local MLA, it was important for me to interact directly with the people of Chuna, hear their concerns, and understand their aspirations firsthand,' he said, following an extended interaction with local residents. The Chief Minister also visited the jawans of the Arunachal Scouts stationed at the border outpost and expressed pride in their service. 'I was deeply impressed by the courage and dedication of our own boys, sons of Arunachal, serving Maa Bharti in some of the harshest terrains with unmatched dedication,' he noted. HP High Court Raps HPU for withholding Associate Professor's Salary
Shimla, Jun 21 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court has pulled up Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) for withholding the salary of an Associate Professor for over two years, despite his promotion under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). Justice Sandeep Sharma, while allowing a civil writ petition filed by Dr. Bhawani Singh, directed HPU to release the pending salary within six weeks. Dr. Singh, appointed as an Assistant Professor in 2016 in the Department of Hindi, was promoted to Associate Professor on September 9, 2022, under UGC norms. The promotion was approved by the university's Executive Council through an office order dated July 4, 2023. However, HPU withheld the salary, citing lack of approval from the state government. The court noted that Dr. Singh was working in the higher post but denied its pay scale. 'The petitioner, who admittedly at present is working against the higher post, is being denied salary of the higher post,' the order stated, terming the university's conduct as 'bad in law' and 'unjustified.' HPU's repeated attempts to seek approval from the Finance Department were blocked, as the department claimed that the Assured Career Progression (ACP) Scheme ceased with the introduction of the Himachal Pradesh Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2022. However, the court rejected this reasoning, asserting that UGC regulations, having statutory force, must prevail over state policies in such matters. Citing Supreme Court rulings in Gambhirdan K. Gadhvi v. State of Gujarat and Prof. (Dr.) Sreejith P.S v. Dr. Rajshree M.S, the court emphasized that UGC norms are binding on state universities. 'UGC Regulations should become part of the statute framed by Parliament and, therefore, shall prevail,' Justice Sharma said. The court ruled that state government approval was not a precondition for releasing the salary. Failure to comply with the order within six weeks will entitle Dr. Singh to interest at 6% per annum on the delayed payment. Senior Advocate Sanjeev Bhushan, assisted by L.S.
