Notre Dame football offers rising 2027 North Carolina tight end
While it may seem like the focus of Notre Dame football's recruiting effort are in the 2026 class, with two commitments in the last week (Ebenezer Ewetade and Rodney Dunham), the Irish coaching staff is still looking at classes beyond this current one.
On Thursday they offered 2027 North Carolina tight end Jaxon Dollar, a 6-foot, 5-inch and 208-pound prospect. He's not currently ranked in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but he currently holds eight offers from teams like Florida State, Michigan, Penn State and others. Most of his offers have come in the last week, so Notre Dame is getting in early on his recruitment.
Dollar caught just 13 passes during his sophomore year, but six of them went for touchdowns. His large frame should enable him to add more weight as he gets closer to enrolling at his school of choice at the next level. The Irish clearly love his potential, thus the offer was made.
He also stars on the basketball court, which could potentially play a part in his decision. Either way, Dollar is a prospect that Notre Dame wants, so his recruitment will be one to monitor in the coming months.

Sleeper Steelers RB Looks to Turn Heads: ‘I'm Going to Make Them Right in Their Decision'

Before throwing out the first pitch at the Reading Fightin Phils' game on Thursday, Pittsburgh Steelers undrafted running back Max Hurleman declared the Steelers will not regret their decision in giving him an opportunity. The Steelers signed the Wyomissing, Pa. native and former Notre Dame running back after a rookie tryout in May. 'Thankful to a really good organization like the Pittsburgh Steelers,' Hurleman said, via the Reading Eagle. 'I can't thank them enough. Coach (Mike) Tomlin, Mr. Rooney, Mr. Khan, for just affording me this opportunity, and I'm going to make them right in their decision.' Advertisement Hurleman started out his collegiate journey as a running back at Colgate. With the Raiders, he played in 35 games and made 23 starts over four seasons. He was the starting running back in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, rushing 92 times for 346 yards and one touchdown in 2021 and 83 times for 397 yards in 2022. He was also a prolific receiver, catching 30 passes for 281 yards in 2021 and 20 for 239 yards and one touchdown in 2022. Hurleman was one of three players to sign out of rookie camp, following fellow rookie tryout, tackle Gareth Warren, and veteran running back Trey Sermon. 'Probably the moment I walked in there and shook Coach Tomlin's hand, that was very surreal,' Hurleman said on the opportunity to be a Steeler. 'Just being in that building, and you have to separate the fan versus OK, now these are my coworkers. And so that's really the moment. Okay, this is it. It's pretty cool.' Pittsburgh Steelers running back Max Hurleman at minicamp on June 5, 2025. — Ed Thompson/ Steelers Now In 2023, Hurleman moved to wide receiver, but did not see as much playing time, catching 28 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt junior. Advertisement Hurleman then transferred to Notre Dame as a cornerback for the 2024 season. He played just three snaps of defense for the Fighting Irish. No matter what position he is listed to play, Hurleman's major contributions have come on special teams. He returned 23 punts for Notre Dame last season for 138 yards. He also returned punts and kicks for Colgate in his time with the Raiders. At Notre Dame, Hurleman was a four-phase special teamer, playing on kickoff return, kick coverage, punt return and punt coverage units. In addition to his returns, he had four special teams tackles in 2024. Hurleman thinks his versatility is his best attribute. Advertisement 'Helped me a ton. Just being able to have one guy wear multiple hats definitely goes a long way in the league, there in the NFL,' Hurleman said of his versatility to play running back, wide receiver, cornerback and special teams. 'So I think being able to show that I could do all those different things really went a long way. I was afforded the opportunity to show that because some guys may have went down during the mini camp. And, you know, lucky for me, I was able to do that stuff, and I think it is very important.' White Sox Minor League Update: June 21, 2025

No, Luis Reyes didn't earn a Gatorade bath on Saturday and saw his win evaporated by the bullpen, but he sure deserved one. | Luis Reyes/Instagram Charlotte Knights 4, Gwinnett Stripers 1 (Statcast Box) Not only did the Knights wrap this one up early, with four runs in the first four innings, a bullpen game squelched a tuff Stripers O, with the top of the lineup manned by Jurickson Profar and Jarred Kelenic. It was also a lucky effort, given Charlotte was out-hard hit by Gwinnett, 10-5. Thanks, C/Koreys (Julks and Lee), for your two-run shots made the difference in this one! Charlotte advances to 36-38. Birmingham Barons 7, Columbus Clingstones 3 Here's how good Shane Murphy has been in the White Sox system this year: Three runs over six innings on Saturday raised his ERA ... to 1.62. Lawdy. Murphy somehow has lost three games this year while compiling a 1.29 ERA heading into this start, so he was due a win (his sixth in 2025) in a bum game — his first having given up as many as three runs in a game this season. For once, Murphy's offense bailed him out, as he left in after the sixth down, 3-2, with late rallies delivering the southpaw a no-decision. Advertisement Otherwise, this win came courtesy of another great game at the top of the order from Rikuu Nishida and William Bergolla (a combined 4-for-8, four runs, double). Birmingham improves to 38-30. Winston-Salem Oat Milkers 6, Rome Emperors 5 Despite the tight win, the 26-41 Dash Oat Milkers never trailed in this one, and how often can that be said this season; a fair spot fewer times than 26, I'd guess. Every Dash hitter tapped at least one hit but catcher Jackson Appel, and in fact five of the nine hitters got on base twice today. Sure, the pitching did just enough to keep W-S out of the fire, but when you're at 26 wins starting the second half of the season, don't quibble. Oh, for bonus video content, how about the power-packed Jeral Perez and his 13th homer of the season? Charleston RiverDogs 6, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 4 (10 innings) As this update is being prepared, Kanny starting pitcher Luis Reyes is typing a sharply-worded memo to White Sox brass asking for a better bullpen, one that will save one of his great outings rather than blow it. Too late for tonight, of course, but not for lack of Reyes' effort: an affiliate-rarity seven innings, all of them scoreless, four hits, five Ks, a walk. AARGGHH. Connor Housely and Jonathan Clark, you better be buying dinner tonight. Advertisement Kannapolis has officially entered Can't Win For Losing status, dropping a ninth straight game and tumbling to 32-36. ACL Diamondbacks 6, ACL White Sox 5 (9 innings, orignally scheduled for 7) We just have time to squeeze in one more late collapse tonight, so let's head to steamy AZ and watch our Complex Sox kick this one away. Jeremy Gonzalez had a rough start to the game, giving up four runs in the third. However, the bullpen held up for five innings to come, keeping the Dbacks scoreless while clawing back into the game. In fact, by the top of the seventh, and Alexander Albertus double resulted in the lead run, 5-4, after Albertus was pushed to third on a Grant Smith fly out and home after a throwing error on a comebacker to ACL-D hurler Austin Pope. Alas, a single-SB-double tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, the frame that should have marked game's end; the damage came against Complex Sox pitcher Gray Thomas, but with two on and two outs Gray coaxed a K to move the game into extras. In the first three half-innings, two oddities kept the game scoreless. In the bottom of the eighth, the Complex Sox scored a wild sequence on an attempted sac bunt with runners on first and second, going 3-5-4 for a third-to-first double play. Then, in the top of the ninth the White Sox saw a runner cut down at home (apparently, the play-by-play details have a gap) on an attempted first-and-third double steal. Advertisement The loss that dropped the ACL Sox to 20-16 came rather mundanely, with a single to drive in the ghost runner in the bottom of the ninth. More from

Is Penn State losing recruiting ground to Notre Dame?

First Grayson McKeogh, now Tyler Merrill. Those are two offensive linemen that the Nittany Lions have let slip through their grasp and have ended up with the Fighting Irish. Thus, this continues a slippery slope for the Nittany Lions as they continue to lose traction not just within their state, but in the Big Ten and on a national stage as well. For the past couple of weeks, it has just been continuous bad news on the recruiting trail as more and more top recruits eschew the Nittany Lions in favor of the men from South Bend. McKeogh and Merrill specifically were Pennsylvania guys and two of the better O-linemen in the cycle. To make matters worse, another Pennsylvania product in safety Joey O'Brien is said to be leaning in favor of the Irish. His five-star status as well makes it ever more painful, as Penn State fans are sure to notice the lack of one in this cycle thus far. Advertisement As the recruiting process grows ever more tense, look for this burgeoning recruiting rivalry to continue as Notre Dame gets ever more aggressive. They are already making moves in the 2027 cycle, extending an offer to a Penn State commit in the past couple of days. Thus the question arises: is Penn State rapidly losing ground in its own state, and will they be able to recover before it's too late?
