Hannah Hidalgo has made the Women's FIBA AmeriCup roster as it starts later this month

Hannah Hidalgo has made the Women's FIBA AmeriCup roster as it starts later this month The FIBA Women's AmeriCup will start up on June 28th, and on Thursday it was announced that Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo has made the team. She will team up with her former teammate, Olivia Miles, who transferred to TCU, as the USA will look to take gold during the vent. Following three days for trials, the roster has been set and Hidalgo is no stranger for playing for her country. In 2023, the Irish star helped the U19 Women's National Team take home a gold medal, along with three other players who made the team. Hidalgo was also on the 2022 U17 team that took home gold, along with playing for the USA at the Nike Hoop Summit according to USA Basketball's release. The United States will open its play against host Chile, and then will play Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico in Group B. The goal is to win this tournament, which will allow them a berth into the 2025 FIBA Women's World Cup that will be played in Berlin, Germany next summer. Congrats to Hannah, as he tries to add yet another gold medal to her growing collection.

Recruiting insiders pick who they think 2026 star safety Joey O'Brien will commit to

Recruiting insiders pick who they think 2026 star safety Joey O'Brien will commit to The day has come to find out if Notre Dame football will be adding another elite prospect to its 2026 recruiting class, as Pennsylvania 4-star safety Joey O'Brien will make his commitment later today at 7:15 p.m. ET. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 185-pound star will be picking either Penn State, Oregon, Clemson or the Irish, and whoever wins out on his recruitment will be getting one of the nation's best. O'Brien is currently ranked as the No. 65 overall prospect in the cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Many recruiting insiders have weighed in on who they believe O'Brien will pick, and starting off with 247Sports where there are two predictions, both having him selecting Notre Dame. It's not just Irish insiders making the pick, as Austin Hannon, a Tigers reporter, also picked the Irish on Wednesday. Over at On3, they also like the Irish's chances, as 91.4% of their predictions have the Blue and Gold winning out. Their data is gathered from insiders, social sentiment, historical data and more. Finally, looking at what Rivals thinks happens with O'Brien, they also like Notre Dame's chances, with every one of its FutureCast's going in favor of the Irish. At one point Richard O'Leary has picked the Nittany Lions, but changed his mind and switched over to the Irish. Just by looking at the major three recruiting outlets, it very much looks like Notre Dame will be landing a star safety in O'Brien later today.

Iowa football among final three schools for 2026 TE

Iowa football may be close to adding a talented tight end to its 2026 recruiting class. Three-star tight end Preston Fryzel revealed on Wednesday that Iowa is among his final three schools alongside Notre Dame and Miami and that he will announce his collegiate commitment on June 23. Fryzel is from Toledo, Ohio, and plays high school ball at Central Catholic. The Hawkeyes were the first of his final three schools to offer, as they did so on April 19, 2025. Fryzel visited Miami to begin the month of June, visited Notre Dame on June 13 and has a visit scheduled with the Hawkeyes on June 20 before his decision date on June 23. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end posted great numbers in 2024, notching 43 receptions for 807 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fryzel helped lead Central Catholic to a 14-2 record and an appearance in the state championship game. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle According to 247Sports, Fryzel is the No. 23 tight end and the No. 24 player from Ohio in the 2026 class. On3 ranks Fryzel as the No. 17 tight end and as the No. 19 player from Ohio. Iowa is hoping that their visit with Fryzel will be enough to get the talented tight end to commit. If he does, Fryzel would be the 10th commit in the 2026 class. Notre Dame football offers 2027 Penn State wide receiver commit Khalil Taylor

Notre Dame football offers 2027 Penn State wide receiver commit Khalil Taylor There is a rivalry brewing between Notre Dame and Penn State, and it doesn't just stem from the Irish's College Football Playoff semifinal victory. In the off-season, Notre Dame took the Nittany Lions running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider at the same position, and have been working on recruits like safety Joey O'Brien and cornerback Khary Adams. They've also have had success in landing Pennsylvania offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, the Irish put their hat into the ring for 2027 Penn State commit Khalil Taylor, a 2027 wide receiver. The 5-foot, 11-inch and 180-pounder committed to PSU at the end of March, but that isn't stopping Notre Dame from trying to flip him. Taylor is ranked as the No. 72 overall player in his class by the 247Sports Composite, showing that he's one of the best in the cycle. With the momentum that the Irish have recruiting the state of Pennsylvania, McKeogh and Tyler Merrill committed in the 2026 class, you can't discount Notre Dame from potentially flipping Taylor. This is a recruitment to watch, especially if he makes it to South Bend in the near future.

Notre Dame is among the top two recruiting classes, according to one publication

At least one outlet claims that Notre Dame has the best recruiting class for 2026. On3 Sports says that the Fighting Irish, according to their metrics, are number one. It's a bit tricky, since Blue & Gold uses an industry ranking for its articles, but On3's internal ranking has the Irish at number one, even if that's not the case for the industry ranking. Advertisement The difference is half a point -- the industry ranking has USC over the Irish by a half-point, but On3's own ranking has them tied, with an unknown tiebreaker putting Notre Dame on top. In both rankings, the top five are rounded out by LSU, Georgia and Ohio State. Scoring semantics aside, it's exciting to think that the Irish, coming off a berth in the national championship game, have one of the top two recruiting classes in the country.
