Two suspects who were previously arrested for claiming they had connections with the First Family were apprehended by police in Parañaque City for the illegal possession of explosives and firearms.
In his report in Super Radyo dzBB, Carlo Mateo said Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group head P/Brigadier General Eleazar Mata said they seized a block of C-4 Explosive, guns, ammunition, knives, handcuffs and three bullet-proof vests from the suspects.
During a press briefing, Mata said HPG personnel flagged down a black sport utility vehicle with no rear license plate and using unauthorized blinkers along Filipinas Avenue. A closer inspection revealed the contraband inside the vehicle.

PNP to use NCAP cameras for faster response time

The Philippine National Police said it will use the cameras of the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) to improve its response time versus crime in Metro Manila. In his Monday report on 24 Oras, Joseph Morong said the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has already caught over 10,000 traffic violators since the NCAP cameras resumed its operations last May. There are currently 21 cameras monitoring the EDSA Bus Carousel while 162 are placed along the entire stretch of EDSA. Aside from artificial intelligence (AI) the CCTV cameras are manned by CCTV operators of the MMDA. Citing the NCAP system's effectiveness, PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said it could also be used in its anti-crime efforts in the metropolis. A demonstration on Monday resulted in a two minute response time– one minute faster on what the new PNP chief is challenging the police force to be present at the scene of a crime. Torre said a police officer with direct communication to the PNP command center will be assigned at the MMDA traffic control facility. 'Maglalagay na kami rito ng pulis na may radyo na naka connect derecho sa ating command center so derecho dispatch na,' Torre said. (We will have a police officer with a radio here to help coordinate direct dispatches with our command center.) Meanwhile, the MMDA on Monday announced that it has launched a website that will allow drivers to check if they violated the NCAP. —RF, GMA Integrated News

Bullying in schools may be reported to PNP's 911 hotline, says Torre

"We are coordinating with the schools. Sisiguraduhin natin na walang bullying," Torre told reporters. Cases of bullying in schools may be reported via the Philippine National Police's 911 hotline, PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said on Monday. According to Mark Makalalad's report on Super Radyo dzBB, Torre ordered police commanders to be on the lookout for street crimes and bullying as classes resumed across the country. Torre said incidents of bullying may be reported to the 911 hotline, and the local police station with jurisdiction shall get in touch with school authorities. "We are coordinating with the schools. Sisiguraduhin natin na walang bullying," Torre told reporters. Torre said police units have also been ordered to look after school children, who may fall victim to robbers or con artists who might take their valuables, such as cellphones. Schools across the country reopened on Monday, June 16, marking the official start of School Year 2025–2026 with the Department of Education (DepEd) expecting around 27 million enrollees from preschool to senior high school. "All systems go po ang lahat sa pagbubukas ng ating klase," DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara said in a Viber message. (All systems are go for the opening of classes.) As millions of students trooped back to classrooms, the country's education system continues to grapple with long-standing challenges, including learning gaps, infrastructure backlogs, and overcrowded facilities. One of the most urgent problems remains the massive shortage of classrooms, with the backlog now at 165,000 nationwide. Education officials earlier admitted that, at the current rate of construction, it could take up to 55 years to eliminate the backlog. –NB, GMA Integrated News
