Sourdough dessert challenge ends in tears as beloved MasterChef Australia: Back To Win contestant is sent home
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win said an emotional goodbye on Tuesday night's episode after a tricky pud packed the bags of a budding chef.
It was never going to be an easy challenge when O.MY restaurant's Blayne Bertoncello walked through the MasterChef doors, especially when he introduced his Variations of Sourdough and Strawberry with Elderflower and Balsamic dessert.
However, when Rue, Tim, Audra and Sarah were tasked with remaking the dish perfectly for five plates, the pressure was at an all time high.
It soon became clear, this pressure test wasn't going to be a piece of cake.
The dish included a strawberry sorbet which sat atop a sourdough-infused crème pâtissière, a strawberry gum emulsion, macerated strawberries, sourdough tuilles and fried elderflower crisps - all finished off with a balsamic gel.

As Rue, Audra, and Tim all struggled with their emulsion, which split and was too runny when compared to Blayne's, the temperatures began to soar in the kitchen.
In the end, it was the dessert queen herself Rue Mupedzi who was sent home over her grainy crème pat.
In tears, Rue told the judges that it had been an honour cooking for them and being on the show for a second time around.
'Just being called back among such amazing chefs made me realise I'm also part of the great people,' she shared.
Jean-Christophe Novelli sang high praises of the contestant and her presence on the show.
'You are unique, you've got the most amazing spirit and, for me, I believe you are a ray of sunshine in any kitchen,' he told Rue in a heartfelt speech.
Speaking of her final cook with 10Play, Season 15's Rue was left disappointed after being eliminated in a challenge she considered to be her bread and butter.
'I really felt like this was a cook that I was supposed to shine in, and I didn't,' Rue said.
'You are unique, you've got the most amazing spirit and, for me, I believe you are a ray of sunshine in any kitchen,' Jean-Christophe Novelli told Rue in a heartfelt speech
'I had done all these elements over a thousand times, and somehow that didn't show. You couldn't see that on the plate.'
On Sunday night's episode, another MasterChef Australia: Back To Win elimination saw a talented chef put down their skillet for the final time in an action-packed, temperature-rising cook-off.
It was a lobster wonton that sent this ambitious candidate home following a prophetic insight and a broth that fell short.
Seafood connoisseur Josh Niland challenged the MasterChef Australia participants with a dish famed for its easygoing nature - but easygoing it wasn't.
The task was to create a surf and turf dish, with the chefs expected to put their own spin on the iconic food combo.
Season 14 runner up Rhiannon Anderson, 48, who chose to make lobster wontons paired with beef broth, wasn't confident from the get-go, confessing in her piece to camera that she could be the one cooking for the last time in the MasterChef kitchen.
And after ending up in the bottom three with Tim and Darrsh, she was proved right.
'It has to come back to flavour and texture, which is why I'm so sorry to say this, Rhi. I'm sorry, you're going home,' Andy Allen told the chef.
An emotional Rhi dubbed her second time round on the show a 'bloody epic experience' as she held back tears.
'How many people get to come back to win and just do what I've just done? And I've had an absolute blast.'
She went on to say that she'd be heading home to her husband and hopping right back into the kitchen.
'I'll just have to go home to Deano and cook him something. Not quite as much fun, but anyway.'

'I'll never forget my final conversation with Shane Warne - his death shocked me'
'I'll never forget my final conversation with Shane Warne - his death shocked me' Shane Warne and Phil Tufnell were on opposite sides during the 1990s, and the pair often locked horns, but they still shared a close friendship away from the cricket field Shane Warne passed away on back in 2022 after suffering a heart attack (Image: Popperfoto via Getty Images ) After numerous memorable encounters with Shane Warne, former England cricketer Phil Tufnell's last interaction with the Australian was rather unassuming. With his charming personality, bamboozling spinning ability and habit of finding himself in the headlines, Tufnell, 59, could be considered England's answer to Warne. While Tufnell might not have sported an earring or the bleach blonde hair that gave Warne his movie-star looks, he nevertheless had the skill to bewilder batsmen and make the ball turn on command. Notably, Tufnell eclipsed Warne during the 1997 Ashes by securing 11 wickets compared to the Aussie's four, leading England to a narrow 19-run win in the sixth test against Australia. Friendship blossomed between the two after their international cricket careers ended, with both contributing their insights to media coverage. The world, along with Tufnell, was shocked by Warne's sudden death due to a heart attack at age 52 on March 4, 2022. Tufnell reflects on his final words with Warne fondly. It was simply a routine farewell post-match, followed by a light-hearted confirmation that they both had cigarettes on hand. Speaking at the launch of The Overlap and Betfair's Stick to Cricket show, Tufnell told the Mirror: "I do a little bit actually (remember his last conversation with Warne). "I think we were at a cricket match. We have a breakout group there, so we're BBC and he was at Sky. As usual, we all meet up for a fag, we both used to smoke. I tell you what, it was one of those where we were just chatting. Article continues below "It was virtually, 'Oh, well, see you later. See you next year. Cheers mate. You got a fag, yeah? Alright! Cheers mate. Ta, bye.' Warne and Tufnell had many battles on the field (Image: Popperfoto via Getty Images ) "Then, shortly afterwards (when news of the death was confirmed), it was like, 'F***, what?' That was the shock. We just couldn't believe it." Warne's sudden passing while on holiday in Thailand was deeply felt across the sport. Tufnell recalled exactly where he was when he heard the devastating news. He said: "I was driving along in my car and I thought they'd got it wrong. I thought they'd got it wrong because I think Rod Marsh, the legendary Australian wicket-keeper, had passed away two or three days beforehand. Tufnell will be starring on Betfair's Stick to Cricket show (Image: Betfair/Stick to Cricket podcast ) "I thought they had got that (Warne's death) wrong on the radio. Then I turned to another channel and they said it again. "I stopped the car. Stopped the car. I had been working with him not so long ago in the media centre at a cricket match, just chatting to him. I just couldn't believe it." Warne is universally recognised as the finest leg spinner in history, concluding his illustrious career with a tally of 708 wickets, second only to Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan, who bagged 800. Article continues below Betfair are set for a big summer and winter of cricket, launching a new show with The Overlap: Stick to Cricket. Don't miss the first episode next week, where the team will be reviewing the opening test of the series between England and India.

Tegan Kynaston loves to take her toddler son on days out - just the two of them. And the wife of shock jock Kyle Sandilands was braving Sydney 's chilly winter weather on Sunday as she took a stroll with little Otto in Bondi. The 39-year-old kept warm in a black puffer jacket from North Face along with a pair of skin tight leggings. She added a pair of white sneakers and had on a designer sunglasses while carrying a chic bag over her shoulder. Tegan appeared to have on some subtle makeup including a peachy blush and pin lipstick while wearing her blonde hair down in waves. And the wife of shock jock Kyle Sandilands was braving Sydney's chilly winter weather on Sunday as she took a stroll with little Otto in Bondi Otto, two, was keeping warm by burning some energy as his mum was left carrying his puffer vest for him. The two traipsed alongside the boardwalk alongside the ocean looking relaxed and in good spirits. It comes after Tegan's husband Kyle Sandilands shared a 'heartbreaking' relationship update after he and wife Tegan celebrated their second wedding anniversary. The shock jock admitted on the Kyle & Jackie O Show on that he 'freaked' after finding a romantic note in Tegan's bag from a 'mystery man'. He told co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson that the incident occurred just days after the couple celebrated two years of wedded bliss. 'I made a fool of myself in front of my wife and that's never a good look,' Kyle sheepishly admitted. 'It was our anniversary the other day and I bought her this hotel foyer quality sized flower arrangement, like something you'd see in the Hilton Hotel or something.' Putting his flowery display of love out of his mind, Kyle said he was left crestfallen after rummaging in Teagan's bag while she slept. She added a pair of white sneakers and had on a designer sunglasses while carrying a chic bag over her shoulder Tegan appeared to have on some subtle makeup including a peachy blush and pin lipstick while wearing her blonde hair down in waves 'I was looking for a cigarette lighter this morning in her bag before I started work and I found this note and my heart dropped,' he said. 'There was a little note shoved inside her handbag and I freaked.' Jackie, equally shocked at Kyle's admission, asked: 'Written by who?' 'I don't know. Not by her. By a fella,' Kyle replied. He then went on to read the contents of the romantic missive. 'It says: "My love, every day with you is the best day of my life. I love you more than words can ever say".' A clearly shocked Jackie could not believe her ears, telling Kyle: 'I would be vomiting at this point.' Kyle wasn't going to take the note lying down either, admitting that he immediately confronted his wife over the note. It comes after Tegan's husband Kyle Sandilands shared a 'heartbreaking' relationship update after he and wife Tegan celebrated their second wedding anniversary 'I couldn't believe it, so I've woken her up and asked "What's this all about?"' Kyle said. 'She looked all confused. She lifted her little silk eye mask and went, "that's the note you sent me with the flowers for our anniversary".' Kyle then revealed he was not the author of the swoon-worthy words, but rather his producer and manager Bruno Bouchet. 'I thought that bloody Bruno has been ghost-writing again. I didn't ask for any cards,' Kyle said. 'I never wrote it and she's been carrying it around in her handbag like I'm a sweetie pie.' Jackie was quick to confront Kyle over his lack of romantic impulse. That's the most heartbreaking story ever because the poor thing now knows you had nothing to do with that message,' Jackie said. Kyle retorted, saying the last card he received from his wife was on Valentine's Day and was delivered without any inscription from Tegan. 'At least that's authentic and real,' Jackie added. Kyle's admission comes after he revealed in January that the couple were trying for a brother or sister for son Otto, two. 'We were just talking yesterday and we will probably start working towards the new child [this] year, I think - that's what we're really doing,' he told Insider. 'But we've gotta time that out though because I don't want to be away on auditions for Idol next year when she's about to give birth, so that's gonna be well-timed.' He previously described fatherhood as one of the greatest experiences in his life, telling Daily Mail Australia that he 'can't imagine being any happier'. 'I used to watch hours and hours of TV, and now I just sit there looking at him and he's really been a joy,' he said. 'I've just been sitting at home the whole time which I've enjoyed. I'm at home now more than I was with lockdowns, so we're loving every second of it.

Pip Edwards shows off her trim figure in activewear as she takes a power walk in Rose Bay - after revealing the real reason she left P.E Nation
Pip Edwards was a passion for fitness. The fashion designer has again getting her steps in on Sunday as she stepped out in Sydney 's Rose Bay for a power walk. The 45-year-old opted for a pair of skin tight leggings paired with a loose black sweatshirt. She added a pair of sneakers and grey socks to her sporty ensemble, as well as wearing a pair of headphone for some music while she worked out. Pip appeared to go makeup free for the outing and pulled her blonde hair off her face while adding a pair of designer sunglasses. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The 45-year-old opted for a pair of skin tight leggings paired with a loose black sweatshirt It comes after Pip revealed the real reason she left P.E Nation following its relaunch last year, after founding the brand with former business partner Claire Greaves in 2016. Pip stepped down from the company in August last year after a professional rift between her and her ex best friend saw Claire leave P.E Nation just months earlier. After much speculation from fans about why the mother-of-one decided to give up her company, she has claimed she could no longer maintain the rigorous workload of running the business, reported Wish last month. 'Not many people understand the pressure of building and running a business, but also creative, front-facing, product - all that stuff. It's five jobs in one, and I didn't stop,' she told the magazine. 'I gave that business 500 per cent of my life, and it was a 24/7 job, and you can only maintain that pace for so long. To be fair, I did have a couple of burnouts along the way. I'm just being honest here. 'It's no disrespect to P.E - it was either that or saving myself, you know? Because how do you get off that hamster wheel? How do you stop what you've started? You can't.' Pip went on to say she had to 'cut loose and then restart in a way that works for me, my emotions, energy, spirit, all those things, and realign and reset the boundaries'. She added it became hypocritical to spruik a brand all about wellness when 'my health wasn't well'. Pip was wearing a pair of headphone for some music while she worked out She appeared to go makeup free for the outing The fashion designer said many who have followed her long career at P.E Nation may 'misinterpret' the reasons she left the company just three months after its relaunch, but she insists she couldn't continue on with the workload. But while Pip has moved on to become Creative Director at Ksubi, the brand where she first got her start in fashion, the socialite said P.E Nation still holds a special place in her heart as a shareholder. It comes after there was a professional rift between Pip and Claire last year which saw the end of one of the Australian fashion industry's most lucrative and enduring partnerships. Claire co-founded P.E Nation with Pip, and the athleisure brand beloved by eastern suburbs yummy mummies went on to make them multimillionaires. But Claire stepped down from her day-to-day role at the label in March last year. At the time, P.E Nation said in a statement she would be 'pursuing other creative endeavours' and taking her career in a new direction. Claire and Pip were then hit by rumours of a falling-out, and Pip later wiped all traces of Claire from P.E Nation's social media in a seemingly telling move, erasing years of posts promoting the sportswear brand. Pip took over as the sole creative director after Claire's exit and gave the brand an overhaul and relaunch, but she later confirmed in August she too was stepping down. The following month, in September, she returned to street-wear label Ksubi - the brand where she first made her name in the Noughties - as its creative director. While neither woman has revealed the reason why they went their separate ways, Pip said in June last year Claire 'was the product one' in their business partnership. 'In P.E. Nation with my business partner - she was the product one. She was an amazing designer and I was more the marketing side of things,' she said on the Kyle and Jackie O Show at the time. Pip went on to say she had fond memories of working with her former partner and praised Claire for being an 'amazing designer'. Before her business partnership came to an end, Claire separated from her husband Tim Tregoning in mid-2022, although they would not announce it until January the next year. 'It is very amicable, we still love each other, we are co-parenting and he remains a great friend,' she said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. 'Things change and that's just what happened for us, but we are getting through that with a lot of respect and support for each other.'
