‘Billboard Unfiltered': Reviewing Lil Wayne's ‘Tha Carter VI' & His All-Time Ranking in Rap
Billboard Unfiltered is back with a reimagined format and will remain a live show every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Staff writer Kyle Denis, senior director R&B/hip-hop Carl Lamarre and senior charts analyst Trevor Anderson returned with new moderator Delisa Shannon on Wednesday (June 11) as the trio debated the early returns of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI, and all three skewed to various degrees of a negative reception to Weezy's latest installment in his decorated series.

Lamarre compared Wayne's career legacy to that of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and said Weezy still remains in his top five of all-time. Although, CL believes that the disappointing album and his solo output over the last decade have watered down his discography.
'I need to fire whoever was A&R and executive producing my brother Wayne's album because this is easily the worst [Carter] in the entire series,' he claimed. '[C6] was just a full trainwreck… When you take out the mixtapes and look at pure albums. From one, five and six on Tha Carter is mid — everything else is mid.'
Denis bluntly said C6 is 'not a good album at all' and 'a—.' 'He spent the last year begging for sympathy by him not getting the Super Bowl slot and he deserved that,' he said. 'This was the time to drop a fire album, get one or two hits off of that, and make your actual case for a Super Bowl headlining show next year. That's completely shot now because it's a—… You did not rise to the occasion.'
Anderson seemed to enjoy the album most among the Unfiltered crew, highlighting the first six tracks as standouts before being derailed. 'I'm not gonna be that hard on it,' TA began. 'Clearly, it's the weakest entry in the canon… It didn't stick the landing for me… I don't know if this album really messes up [if Wayne is top five or top 10] for me… It does weaken Tha Carter series overall… But I don't think it messes up the legacy peg at all.'
The conversation turned to Wayne's legacy and Lamarre believes every top 10 rapper should have at least three classic solo offerings, and he thinks Wayne has two with the second and third installments of Tha Carter, but not much else. 'I'm adamant about saying his [albums] discography is not as strong as people think,' he declared.
Ultimately, the trio wants to see Wayne get back to the drawing board and lock in with a singular producer like Nas did with Hit-Boy to bring that greatness out of him. When the dust settled, Shannon gave Trevor Anderson the victory in the first game of the revamped Unfiltered series.

Museum of Greatness unveils $200 million collection of 'iconic' memorabilia

That's how Nick Connolly, Fanatics VP and head of collector relations, described the standard for inclusion at the 'Museum of Greatness.' The 10,500-square-foot exhibit on display for Fanatics Fest this weekend at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan is estimated to be worth $200 million — likely the most expensive collection of memorabilia ever put together. Advertisement Much of these pieces have not been seen publicly in years, if ever. It also makes a case for the most significant by any other standard, especially historic value. Walking in, past the countless security guards defending the treasures, it's easy for anyone — regardless of their experience with collectibles — to feel the weight of the items sitting in the display cases. It starts with Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle. Ruth is represented by a 1918 Red Sox game-used bat, one of the earliest in the hobby. Mantle is seen through a photographers' lens by two of the most valuable Type 1 photos and their associated trading cards, the 1951 Bowman and 1952 Topps. One of the more remarkable and complete collections of unopened wax boxes and packs, from vintage baseball to football, in BBCE cellophane and PSA slabs, comes next. Logan Paul's Pokémon Illustrator, an embarrassment of riches containing some of the most valuable '90s insert cards ever created (PMGs) and, perhaps most impressive of all, a complete collection of Tom Brady's victorious Super Bowl game-used jerseys, on loan from the man himself, are all highlights. Advertisement 'People were excited because they wanted to display [their collections] for everyone,' Connolly said, describing the curation process, which largely involved dealing with individual and private collectors. 'Once the marketing was done it was actually very fun because we actually got a lot of inbound of people saying 'Oh, I have this, I'd like to display it.'' No collectibles exhibit would be complete without the T206 Honus Wagner, which sits alone in a display case. Rounding out the collection is Michael Jordan's game-used Game 3 jersey from the 1998 'Last Dance' NBA Finals, the sister to the Game 1 jersey which sold for a record $10.1 million. Fanatics also managed to procure more than 50 MLB Debut Patch Autograph cards, its creation which its CEO Michael Rubin recently called the greatest innovation in the history of trading cards. Advertisement 'The fact we could get a Honus Wagner, a Mickey Mantle and 50 Debut Parches all in one place … I think that's very special,' Connolly said. Mariah Carey Earns Her First Solo Hit Song In A Decade

Several of her hits from that decade ruled for historically-long periods of time. Lately, Carey has spaced her releases further apart, and she doesn't land big wins like she used to. But the beloved singer is back on Billboard's ranking of the biggest songs in America this week with 'Type Dangerous,' which helps her return to the tally unaccompanied for the first time in years. 'Type Dangerous' opens at No. 95 on the Hot 100 this week. According to Billboard, the track earns Carey her first completely solo hit on the chart roster in a decade. The last time she debuted a tune on the tally without any other featured artists credited was in May 2015, when 'Infinity' arrived and peaked at No. 82. In the years since 'Infinity' debuted, Carey has pushed a handful of tracks onto the Hot 100, but all of them benefited from another artist being included. Her list of recent hits includes 'I Don't' with YG and 'Oh Santa!' alongside Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson. Those two tunes peaked at Nos. 89 and 76, respectively. Of course, Carey returns to the Hot 100 every holiday season with 'All I Want for Christmas Is You.' The track finds its way back to the tally sometimes in November, sometimes not until December, but for the past half-decade, it has risen all the way to No. 1 every year. The blockbuster has now accrued a total of 18 weeks ruling the list — a number that will surely climb again at the end of 2025. 'Type Dangerous' powers its way onto the Hot 100 thanks largely to a healthy sales sum. The single opens at No. 4 on the Digital Song Sales chart, with a little under 5,100 pure purchases, according to Luminate. That also sends it straight to No. 1 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and R&B Digital Song Sales tallies. It similarly opens inside the top 10 on a handful of other genre-focused rankings.
