Lil Wayne remains one of the biggest names in hip-hop, even if he doesn't always hit it big with new projects. The rapper's latest album Tha Carter VI earns a lackluster debut on several charts in the United Kingdom this week. The collection wasn't preceded by any major singles, and it seems that Wayne's name alone wasn't enough to propel it toward a strong starting position on every tally. In fact, the sixth installment in his Tha Carter series now stands as the hip-hop superstar's lowest-charting title on a number of rosters.
Tha Carter VI debuts on seven lists in the U.K. this week, and it ranks as Wayne's lowest-peaking effort on about half of them. The project lands its least impressive start on the Official Albums Streaming chart, where it settles in second-to-last place, at No. 99.
Wayne has earned three placements on the streaming-only tally in the past, with Tha Carter V hitting No. 1 and Funeral spending one week at No. 43 back in 2020 when it was new – so his latest effort really pales in comparison.
Tha Carter VI also marks Wayne's lowest peak on both the Official Albums chart — the main ranking of the most consumed projects in the country — and the Official Albums Sales list. It starts at No. 77 on the former, sadly falling short of the No. 61 high point that Funeral reached in February 2020.
Wayne doubles his total number of appearances on the ranking of the bestselling releases in the U.K. as Tha Carter VI opens at No. 53. That's a far cry from the No. 25 peak that the fifth installment in the series managed in 2018.
It's not all bad news for Wayne this week in the U.K., though. Tha Carter VI earns the rapper his first win on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, where it starts at No. 28. He also opens inside the top 10 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, scoring his seventh appearance inside that region as Tha Carter VI kicks off its time at No. 5.

Let's Talk About the Ending of '28 Years Later'
The sequel is coming in January, so there's a lot to break down in Danny Boyle's latest zombie film. One of the few flaws in Danny Boyle's new film, 28 Years Later, is that it ends a chapter, not a full story. That's because this new zombie tale is the first film of a proposed trilogy, one that has its second film coming in January of 2026. With at least one sequel guaranteed, Boyle and his writer, Alex Garland, can safely leave several threads lingering, offering hints of what's to come. Let's break it down with full spoilers. One of the biggest shocks in 28 Years Later is its manic ending. After we watch Spike take the surprise baby back to his home, he goes back to the mainland to live his own life. This, of course, is largely due to a distrust of his father, Jamie, who hit him in the past. All of this feels on brand for the movie, but then Jack O'Connell shows up. O'Connell, best known from films like Sinners and Unbroken, leads some kind of weird, almost Clockwork Orange group of people dressed in colorful jumpsuits, who proceed to gleefully dispatch a group of zombies who are chasing Spike. Spike welcomes the help but we have to question what the deal is. Especially when it's revealed that the character's name is Jimmy. Yes, the same Jimmy from the beginning of the film, whose father was a priest, gave him a special cross, and watched his mother and several childhood friends being eaten alive. What does that do to a person? And what happened to make that scared, lonely child into this flashy, charismatic presence? We don't know for certain but there are clues throughout the movie. For example, in the first third of the movie, Spike and Jamie enter a house and see a man hanging by his feet, waiting to be infected. In that man's chest, though not acknowledged, we can see the letters 'I-M-M-Y.' We can't see the 'J,' but we assume it's there. Jimmy carved his name into this man, for whatever reason. Later, when Spike is traveling with his mom Isla, the name Jimmy is also painted on the side of a shed, like some sort of post-apocalyptic graffiti. From these clues, we can begin to discern that Jimmy and his group are not nice people. They're evil, they're savage, and they are brash. They are certainly not people Spike can trust, though he has to in that moment. At the end of the film we're also left wondering what Jamie, feeling so rejected by his son, will do to get him back. Will Jamie go after Spike? Does he even have that ability? And how will the city deal with the fact that an infected man and woman made a child that isn't infected? That's the kind of revelation that can't be ignored. Plus, who does that child grow up to be? Is her DNA from the parents before or after the infection? There's also the very important piece of information that the sequel is called 'The Bone Temple.' That certainly seems like a reference to Ralph Fiennes' character, Dr. Kelson, and the structures he's erected. Is the movie just about him? Is there another temple of bones? How will that tie into the Spike and Jimmy story? We also know that Cillian Murphy's character Jim, last seen in the original 2002 film, plays a role. How the heck does that work? Certainly, there's lots to ponder and, thankfully, we won't have to wait long to get answers. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta, is scheduled for release on January 16, 2026.

‘The Daily Show' leads Best Talk Series Emmy odds amid outrage over the low number of available slots
Now this is something to talk about. There's outrage in Hollywood over the expected number of nomination slots for the Best Talk Series Emmy. With only 13 submissions this year, the category is dropping from four nominees to a historic low of three. In this era of Peak TV, that simply doesn't seem like enough representation. The former is for programs that rely on unscripted moments such as interviewing guests, while the latter is for variety fare, essentially scripted from start to finish. That solved the John Oliver problem, but it also limited the number of submissions for each category. Last year, there were 14 entries for Best Talk Series, which yielded four nominees, and in the years prior there were almost always five nominees (there were 19 submissions in 2023 and 2022, 20 submissions in 2021, and 24 submissions in 2020). Reigning champion The Daily Show, which now rotates hosts among Jon Stewart, Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic, is currently out front. In 2024, the long-running political gabfest welcomed back Stewart, who originally hosted from 1999 to 2015, to give his comedic take on the presidential election. He still hosts every Monday night, and he recently extended his contract through the end of 2025. A favorite of the TV Academy, Stewart has won a whopping 23 Emmys in his career, from 61 total nominations. "The only bad thing I can say about him is that he's very lazy and will only work one day a week," Lydic recently told Gold Derby in jest. "But that's great for all of us. We get to cover his shifts for the rest of the week." The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is in the runner-up position. The CBS program has been nominated every year since 2017, and before that, Colbert was up 10 different times as a producer for his satire program The Colbert Report, which took home the top trophy in 2013 and 2014. The last time a conventional talk show (i.e., those that start with a monologue and include desk bits and carefree celebrity interviews) claimed this Emmy was in 2002 for Late Show With David Letterman, so it's a fair assumption that voters have moved on from the format. Disney/Randy Holmes Also looking safe for a nomination is Jimmy Kimmel Live, in third place. ABC's perennial late-night program has enjoyed a run of 13 nominations in a row for Best Talk Series (2012-24), but it hasn't won an Emmy in any category since 2010 (for its costumes). Kimmel frequently goes viral with his take-downs of President Donald Trump and those in his cabinet. The entertainer has three Emmys to his name, but none for his talk show; he won for hosting the 2024 Oscars and for producing two installments of Live in Front of a Studio Audience in 2019 and 2020. With only three slots in Best Talk Series, many great shows will be left out in the cold, including freshman Netflix entry Everybody's Live With John Mulaney, chicken wing talker Hot Ones, and the 11-year-old Late Night With Seth Meyers. Seth Meyers, who has been on the Emmy campaign trail in recent weeks, told Gold Derby, "I can't believe I'm still doing this, but there's literally nothing else I'd rather be doing."
