Nicki Minaj's Mentor Helps Her Earn A New No. 1

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne's 'Banned From NO' remix launches atop the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, ... More marking her twenty-fourth No. 1 and his fourteenth on the tally. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 30: (Exclusive Coverage) Nicki Minaj performs onstage during her Pink Friday 2 World Tour at Madison Square Garden on March 30, 2024 in New York City. (Photo byfor Live Nation) Nicki Minaj has been teasing a new album since the fall of 2024, but so far, details about when fans will hear another project remain vague. She originally announced a special deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2 was on the way, but just days after getting fans' hopes up, she revealed that she had changed her mind. Instead of continuing her Pink Friday 2 era, the rapper decided to focus her efforts on a brand new full-length. Since then, Minaj has been largely quiet, likely hard at work on whatever is coming next. The hip-hop superstar did make time recently to join her friend and longtime collaborator Lil Wayne on a remix of one of his recent tunes, and their combined efforts have produced another smash for the duo. Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Debut at No. 1 Minaj and Wayne debut their new tune 'Banned From NO' at No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. Wayne earns his fourteenth career champion on Billboard's list of the top-selling rap tracks in the United States, while Minaj beats him by 10 smashes. Nicki Minaj Hits 100 Top 10s Minaj also comes out on top when looking at the total number of top 10s both artists have collected, as 'Banned From NO' marks her one-hundredth smash to reach that uppermost region. Wayne, who has collected 75 top 10s, wins when it comes to total appearances on the ranking. He increases his total to 168 placements, while Minaj trails by just a few, and she's now up to 160. Lil Wayne Lands Four New Hits Wayne dominates the Rap Digital Song Sales chart this week with four placements on the 10-spot roster. In addition to 'Banned From NO,' three other tracks taken from his recently-released Tha Carter VI album make the list. 'Sharks' with Jelly Roll and Big Sean, 'Hip-Hop' with BigXthaPlug and J. Jones, and his solo cut 'Welcome to Tha Carter' open at Nos. 5, 8, and 9, respectively. 'Banned From NO' Remix Sells 5,000 Copies Luminate reports that in its first several days of availability, the remix version of 'Banned From NO' — which was originally a solo cut by Wayne on Tha Carter VI — sold 5,000 copies. That sum is enough to help the tune debut inside the top five on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and the all-genre Digital Song Sales tallies.

Lil Wayne's New Album Reminds Fans How Much They Love His Older Work

As Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI debuts, Tha Carter III and Tha Carter IV both return to various ... More Billboard charts, years after their release. (Photo by) Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI misses the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 this week, as no one was going to beat Morgan Wallen's massive I'm the Problem. The country behemoth has held atop the ranking of the most consumed full-length in the United States for a month now, and will likely keep in first place for a while. The hip-hop superstar does manage to conquer several genre-specific rankings with the sixth installment in his semi-self-titled series. As Tha Carter VI debuts, several of its predecessors return to various Billboard rankings. Tha Carter III — perhaps the most successful and best-known of Wayne's six-part collection — reenters the Top Rap Albums chart at No. 17. At the same time, it grows considerably on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and all-genre Billboard 200 lists, rising to Nos. 26 and 103, respectively. Tha Carter IV also manages to break back onto one tally. While it doesn't reach the Top Rap Albums list, which features just 25 spots, it does crack the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, returning at No. 41. Simultaneously, it bolts more than 20 spaces on the Billboard 200, ascending from No. 179 to No. 152. Tha Carter VI launches atop both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums rankings. Wayne earns his eleventh leader on the all-encompassing list of the biggest titles in both genres and secures his milestone tenth champion on the rap-only roster. The project is a top five winner on every Billboard tally on which it appears. It only misses the summit on a few other rankings by a narrow margin. Tha Carter VI debuts in the runner-up space on both the Billboard 200 and Top Streaming Albums charts, and comes in third on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums rankings. In its first seven days of availability, Tha Carter VI moved 108,000 equivalent units. That would normally be enough for it to compete for the top spot on the Billboard 200, but it wasn't this time around. This frame, Wallen's One Thing at a Time wins with 208,000 units.

U2's Frontman Scores His First Rap Hit Alongside A Hip-Hop Legend

Lil Wayne's 'The Days' featuring Bono debuts at No. 21 on the Hot Rap Songs chart, marking the U2 ... More singer's first-ever appearance on the tally. (Photo by) Lil Wayne invades Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart this week with tunes from his new album, Tha Carter VI. The hip-hop superstar is no stranger to appearing on the tally, which ranks the most consumed rap tracks throughout the United States — especially whenever fans flock to one project or another all at once. Wayne is joined on several tracks by a handful of collaborators, including one who has never scored a rap hit in America before: Bono. The U2 frontman appears on Wayne's tune 'The Days,' featured on Tha Carter VI, which earns him something of a surprise win. 'The Days' opens at No. 21 on the Hot Rap Songs chart this frame. Unsurprisingly, Bono collects his first win on the genre-specific list, as he's not exactly known for his output in the rap space. While his featured guest spot on 'The Days' may bring Bono to the Hot Rap Songs ranking for the first time, Wayne has already collected triple-digit placements on the roster. With a slew of new arrivals this week, the powerhouse rapper ups his career total to 125 appearances on the Hot Rap Songs chart. That roundup includes 59 top 10s and a dozen No. 1s. He adds to his array of top 10 smashes this week, though he doesn't quite manage to lead the charge. 'The Days' earns the tenth loftiest debut on the Hot Rap Songs chart, with many of the tunes that open above it coming from Wayne's Tha Carter VI, while GloRilla's 'Typa' also breaks in at No. 6. Nearly half of all 25 spaces on the tally this time around are filled by debuts — and all but one are by Wayne. Bono earns his first career hit as a soloist on the Hot Rap Songs chart and his second honor on a related list, the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. 'The Days' opens at No. 29 on that roster, marking his return to the ranking for the first time in a quarter-century. The U2 singer-songwriter first reached the chart of the most popular R&B, hip-hop, and rap tracks with 'Lean on Me,' a collaboration by Kirk Franklin that also credited Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly, Crystal Lewis and the Family. That tune peaked at No. 26 in early 1999. 'The Days' also opens on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, which serves as an extension of the main Hot 100 for tunes that didn't quite break onto the most competitive ranking. Bono and Wayne start their collaboration at No. 12 on that list, missing the Hot 100 by a relatively small number of spots.

Lil Wayne's ‘Tha Carter VI' debuts at No. 2 on Billboard 200 while Morgan Wallen holds No. 1 spot

Lil Wayne gave fans a full-course meal with Tha Carter VI. Deluxe tracks, signed CDs, and an evolution of that Hot Boy sound that's kept him in the conversation for decades. But even with all that momentum, the album still couldn't snatch the top spot on the Billboard 200. Trending Shannon Sharpe apologizes to Nicki Minaj after past comment sparks diss track response Fathers and their daughters: Check out 13 Hip Hop girl dads Check out the must-see performances from the 2025 BET Awards According to Billboard, Tha Carter VI debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 108,000 equivalent album units sold. That includes 73,000 streaming-equivalent units and 1,000 in track-equivalent units. These streaming numbers show that Lil Wayne's digital reach in 2025 is still unmatched, proving his legacy continues to thrive in the streaming era. So, who held Wayne off? None other than Morgan Wallen. His latest release, I'm the Problem, held steady at No. 1 for another week with 209,000 units through June 12. That's right, Wallen's country-pop grip on the charts hasn't let up, even with Wayne applying serious pressure. Tha Carter VI still marks another strong entry in Wayne's legacy. It extends his run of Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 to 13. And while the No. 2 debut might sting for longtime fans expecting a chart takeover, the numbers show just how locked in his fan base still is. The album came with plenty of buzz, boosted by collaborations, a deluxe edition with two bonus tracks, and limited signed physical copies that collectors surely chased. It's Wayne's first studio album since 2020's Funeral, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This time around, though, the competition was tighter. Regardless, the impact is definitely there. Wayne's rollout gave veteran energy with modern reach, showing that even after 20+ years in the game, he's still charting high and drawing real attention from old fans and new listeners alike. Wallen may have kept the crown this week, but Tha Carter VI proved Lil Wayne's reign is far from over.
