Vijayawada: State Assembly Deputy Speaker and Assembly Petitions Committee chairman K Raghurama Krishnaraju said that the petitions committee was urging the State government to issue NTR Aarogyasri health cards without linking them with white ration cards to prevent smuggling of ration rice.
He said that the petitions committee will submit its proposals to State government soon. Speaking to mediapersons at his chamber in Assembly on Tuesday, the Deputy Speaker said that people were eager to get NTR Aarogyasri cards.
He said if the present system of linkage of white ration cards to get the Aarogyasri card was delinked, the misuse and smuggling of ration rice can be curbed.

Rs 20,000 cr spent so far on PM Modi's rallies in Bihar, claims Tejashwi

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday continued with his "pickpocket" jibe, claiming that a staggering Rs 20,000 crore has been spent on rallies addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar so far. The BJP also sharpened its counter-attack, with posters being put up across the state capital bearing the slogan "Mera baap chaara chor, mujhe vote do" (my father stole fodder meant for cattle, vote for me), belittling the leader of the opposition who leads the INDIA bloc in the upcoming assembly polls. The young leader, who had a day ago raised the hackles of the ruling NDA by alleging that exorbitant ticket fares of Vande Bharat made Modi look like a "pocketmaar" (pickpocket), used the expression again in a stinging social media post. He alleged that rallies of Modi in Bihar, since 2014, have cost "Rs 100 crore each" and there have been "200 such public meetings" so far. "So the total amount splurged during the period, which has also seen five elections (three Lok Sabha and two Vidhan Sabha), is Rs 20,000 such meetings have been organised by the government even though the objective has been, clearly, electoral," the former Bihar deputy CM claimed. Notably, Modi was in Siwan district on Friday, which was his fifth visit to the state this year, the second in less than a month, and said to be "51st" since taking over as the prime minister. Yadav, who seemed to be in no mood to give up his tirade, alleged, "What should we call a person who cleverly uses public money on his own pretends to be a man of integrity?... Of course, pocketmaar, not madadgaar (a helper of the people)." The BJP, which takes on the RJD in the assembly elections due in just a few months, retaliated with full force. A day after BJP's former state unit president and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary had sought to berate Yadav by using the famous line from the blockbuster 'Deewaar' - Mera baap chor Hai (my father is a thief) - in an obvious dig at RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's corruption taint, the party engaged in a "poster war". In the posters, which the party has not officially owned, the colourful slogan is inscribed next to a caricature that shows the father-son duo riding a buffalo, an obvious reference to the fodder scam. The conviction in the fodder scam has left Prasad, a former chief minister and an ex-Union minister, disqualified from contesting the elections. Posting about the decision, the Chief Minister wrote in a post on X, 'I am happy to inform you that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, widowed women, elderly and disabled people will now get a pension of Rs. 1,100 instead of Rs. 400 every month.' According to the CM, the increased amount will start to be credited from July 10, with the government ensuring that the beneficiaries get the amount on the 10th of every month, impacting and helping 1,969,255 beneficiaries. 'All beneficiaries will get a pension at the increased rate from July. It will be ensured that this amount is sent to the account of all beneficiaries on the 10th of the month. This will help 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries a lot. The elderly are a precious part of society, and ensuring their dignified living is our top priority. The state government will continue to make efforts in this direction,' the post added. The decision of CM Kumar comes a few months before the state assembly elections are expected to take place. Meanwhile, thanking the Bihar CM for increasing the amount in the pension schemes, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary called it a 'historic day,' saying, 'Today is a historic day as the CM has increased the pensions for widows, the elderly, and the specially abled. I thank the CM for this.' One of the beneficiaries of the scheme, Muneja Begum, living in Gopalganj, said that her economic situation has changed drastically with the schemes implemented by the state government, expressing happiness in the leadership of CM Kumar. 'I am very satisfied with my Chief Minister and with the work done by him. Since the implementation of our livelihood project, our position has changed, our economic situation and social status have increased drastically,' the woman told ANI. The increase in the pension schemes comes just a week after CM Kumar transferred more than Rs 200 crores to lakhs of beneficiaries under the Social Security Pension Schemes. Earlier on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 5,200 crore in Bihar's Siwan, while paying respects to Baba Mahendra Nath and Baba Hans Nath, and invoking the sacred presence of Sohgara Dham.. PM Modi also affirmed that Bihar will be playing a major role in transforming India as the world's third-largest economic powerhouse. 'A prosperous Bihar will significantly contribute to the country's overall development', PM Modi said, attributing the confidence to the strength and capability of the people of Bihar. The Prime Minister commended the people for eradicating the era of lawlessness in the state. Noting that the momentum of Bihar's development continues to accelerate, Modi cautioned that elements responsible for previous lawlessness are now seeking an opportunity to regain control of the government and Bihar's economic resources. He stated that these groups are resorting to various tactics to achieve their goals. The Prime Minister urged the people of Bihar to remain highly vigilant, emphasising the need to keep those who are poised to derail the journey toward a prosperous Bihar far away. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi too busy undermining India's progress, can't see Modi-led transformation: BJP

The BJP on Saturday hit out at Rahul Gandhi , saying the Congress leader cannot see the transformation happening in the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's leadership because he is too busy "undermining India's progress". This came after Gandhi launched a fresh salvo at Prime Minister Modi, and said he has mastered the "art of slogans" but offered no solutions, claiming that India's manufacturing was at a record low despite the 'Make in India' initiative. Hitting back, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari wrote in a post on X, "Rahul ji, everyone in India can see the transformation, except you. Maybe because you're too busy undermining India's progress to notice it." Operation Sindoor is the latest and "landmark example" of India's manufacturing prowess where India's indigenous developed drones destroyed Chinese drones, he added. Bhandari said since 2014 under PM Modi's leadership, engineering exports have surged by 60 per cent while defence exports "skyrocketed from just Rs 686 crore to over Rs 23,000 crore". Live Events "From importing 70 per cent of our defence equipment, India now manufactures 65 per cent of its needs domestically. PMI is at a 10-month high, signalling industrial strength," he said. Bhandari said India under Modi's leadership supplied 60 per cent of the world's COVID-19 vaccines, becoming the "pharmacy of the world". India is now the second largest mobile phone manufacturer globally, he added. "While Indian startups and entrepreneurs were burning the midnight oil to build a world-class drone industry, you (Rahul Gandhi) were busy endorsing Chinese drones and promoting Chinese brands on Indian soil," the BJP spokesperson charged. Bhandari said Rahul Gandhi never believed in 'Make in India' because ' Atmanirbhar Bharat ' doesn't align with his "imported ideology." "What was there in that secret MoU which you signed with the Communist Party of China," Bhandari asked. Economic Times WhatsApp channel )
