Bengaluru doctor offloaded for ‘threatening to crash' Air India flight

The Bengaluru police have booked a city-based doctor for allegedly misbehaving with cabin crew on board an Air India flight bound for Surat, Gujarat, and threatening to crash the plane.
According to the police, Dr Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai, 36, hailing from Yelahanka, was offloaded from the flight after the incident that took place around 2.45 pm on Tuesday. After boarding the plane, Mohanbhai dropped her bag in the front row and demanded crew members carry it to her seat, 20 F, when questioned about the bag's placement.
The situation escalated when she allegedly shouted threats about 'crashing the plane', prompting the cabin crew to alert the pilot. Despite the pilot's intervention, Dr Mohanbhai refused to calm down, leading to her removal from the aircraft before its departure, according to the police.
The Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) police have booked Dr Mohanbhai under sections 351 (4) (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and 353 (1)(b) (statements of public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as well as section 3(1)(a) (act of violence against a person on board an aircraft in flight which is likely to endanger the safety of such aircraft) of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act.
In another incident that took place on Tuesday, Sadaad Mohammad Baba, 22, from Srinagar, allegedly attempted to forcibly enter departure gate 8 at Bengaluru airport's Terminal 1. When CISF personnel tried to prevent his unauthorised entry, Baba allegedly shoved the security staff.
The police have booked Baba under BNS sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 329 (2) (criminal trespass).

Shooting at Mohali disco: Club owner used illegal pistol, say cops

1 2 Mohali: The disco owner who shot a man during a late-night altercation at Skull Club in Bestech Mall, Phase 11, used an illegally procured pistol stored in his desk drawer, police said on Friday. The incident, which occurred around 1 am on Thursday, left the victim, Sidharth Delu of Ganganagar, Rajasthan, critically injured. According to police, the root of the confrontation was an accidental brush between Delu's female companion and the accused, club owner Aditya Vij, on the dance floor. "The victim was dancing with his female friends when Aditya's shoulder accidentally hit one of them. This minor incident triggered a heated argument between Delu and Vij," said DSP Harsimran Singh Bal. The verbal spat escalated and spilled outside the disco, where, in a fit of rage, Vij allegedly retrieved a .32 bore pistol from his office drawer and shot Delu in the stomach. The police confirmed that the weapon used was illegal and added that they will recommend cancellation of the club's bar licence. "It is purely his mistake. He should have de-escalated the situation as the club's owner, but chose to act violently instead. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brass Krishna Idols For Prosperity & Protection In Life Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo We will recommend cancellation of his operational licence," DSP Bal said. After Ahmedabad crash, Air India faces slew of passenger complaints on social media

New Delhi: Just a week after the devastating crash of Air India flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London, the national carrier is now facing intense backlash from passengers over poor service, damaged baggage, mishandled refunds, and alleged harassment, all of which are surfacing on social media platform X. On June 12, Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad, claiming 275 lives that included 241 passengers and crew and 34 people on the ground, as the plane had crashed into a hostel of a medical college. The crash, one of the worst in Indian aviation history, has put the airline under a harsh spotlight. And now, passengers are voicing their long-standing frustrations, painting a troubling picture of Air India's service standards. A user named Qamar Saquib posted that on June 18, while travelling from Patna to Jeddah via Delhi on Air India flights AI-2634 and AI-991, he discovered that his gold (5.5 grams) was missing from his luggage upon arrival in Jeddah. 'I filed a complaint immediately at the Jeddah airport,' he wrote, tagging the airline for accountability. Jasmeet Singh raised a separate issue, accusing Air India of not honouring a refund promise made by airport staff. 'It's a clear case of cheating. The staff was insensitive to my mother, a senior citizen, who was travelling with my sisters,' he wrote. In another disturbing post, a user named Sakina alleged that Air India fraudulently cancelled her grandparents' tickets from Mumbai to Bengaluru, both of whom are heart patients. 'On June 9, I received an email saying the tickets for June 26 had been cancelled through the website — something I never did,' she claimed. The refund provided was a mere Rs 1,400 for tickets worth Rs 15,000, and customer service has reportedly gone silent. 'This is a scam,' she wrote, calling the act 'a breach of security' and 'fraudulent.' Yash, another flyer, said he was mentally and physically harassed when he was forced to switch seats multiple times on flight AI-558, despite pre-booking seat 12D. 'I have back problems and was shifted from 12D to 16C, and then to 29D,' he said. Passenger Rajneesh Khullar, tagging the Ministry of Civil Aviation and DGCA, expressed frustration over broken baggage and zero response from Air India. 'We got our bags after a week. One was broken. I have sent over two dozen emails and filed a claim (Case #23700866), but there has been no response,' he wrote. Parul Kumar, who flew on AI-309, called out the airline for 'super dirty' toilets, non-functional screens, and unresponsive attendants, despite paying AUD 1,500 for the tickets. 'Very pathetic service,' she said bluntly. Another flyer, who goes by AR, shared a video from flight AI-810 and requested Air India to change the 'dirty and worn-out tapestry' on its aircraft 'for the sake of Tata Group's reputation and in memory of late Shri Ratan Tata.' These complaints are now adding to the growing pressure on Air India, which is already under scrutiny after the deadly June 12 crash. The national carrier, which was expected to undergo a revival under the Tata Group's ownership, is now facing renewed criticism not only for technical and safety lapses but also for widespread service failures.

Buldhana woman held on charge of suicide abetment

Pune: The Kalewadi police on Thursday arrested a woman (32) on charge of abetting the suicide of her husband and later dumping his body near Darumbre village in Maval taluka. She used a man's (21) help for the job, with whom she was having an illicit relationship. Senior police inspector Rajendra Bahirat of the Kalewadi police said, "We also detained a minor who helped the woman's partner dump the victim's body." Bahirat said that the victim's body was found at Darumbre village on June 17. Shirgaon police ascertained his identity with the Aadhaar card found with him. "The victim was from Buldhana district. The victim's son told the Shirgaon police that his father went to Pune to meet his wife, who stays in Thergaon. The man's son also told the police that his mother used to abuse his father," Bahirat said. After getting information from the Shirgaon police, assistant police inspector Vaibhav Gurav of the Kalewadi police and his team went to the Jagtapnagar area in Thergaon, the place where the victim's wife was staying with her partner in rented accommodation. "During the questioning, the woman revealed that her husband hung himself in her partner's house and the body was later dumped. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? API Gurav said that the woman, who works at a private hospital, was in a relationship with her neighbour. Her husband was an alcoholic and was doing odd jobs in Buldhana. "The woman later shifted to her neighbour's house and started living with him. The woman's husband came to Thergaon a few days ago and he was also staying in the same room," said Gurav. He said that the woman's son (18), who is the complainant in the case, told the police that before the death, his father contacted him and told him that the latter's mother was abusing him and wanted to end his life. "Frustrated by the woman's harassment, the man, on the night of June 14, ended his life by hanging himself," he said. Gurav said that the next day, the woman's partner and his minor accomplice took the body to Darumbre village on a motorcycle and dumped it at a secluded spot. "Investigations revealed that the victim was alone in the room when he hung himself," Gurav said. The officer said that the police arrested the woman and her partner under sections 108 (suicide abetment) and 238 (destroying evidence) of the BNS.
