Michigan football loses 4-star CB target to rival school for 2026 recruiting class
Michigan football is set to hold its final official visit weekend of the late spring, early summer, and the Wolverines are hoping that it pays dividends. With three weekends preceding, the maize and blue knocked it out of the park with some prospects, but with others, perhaps they fell a little short. The Wolverines currently have one cornerback committed to the 2026 class in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings, but there are a handful of other corners that the maize and blue have ben in strong contention for. Michigan is hosting Carrollton (Ga.) four-star corner Dorian Barney this weekend, and appears to be in the lead for Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star Donovan Webb. But perhaps atop the wish list was Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star Khary Adams. Advertisement Ranked the No. 36 player in the country according to 247Sports, Adams had long appeared to be strongly considering Michigan football, Penn State, and Oregon. But ultimately, Notre Dame ended up winning out, as Adams pledged to the Irish on Friday. With Adams off the board, the Wolverines will likely work extra hard to keep Jennings in the fold -- which will be a challenge given that he's being highly pursued by the Florida schools and others within the SEC-ACC footprint. Webb could be the second addition, and he's starting to trend towards the Wolverines since his visit. Here are Michigan's current commitments in the 2026 class: Advertisement Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star QB Brady Smigiel (No. 83 overall, 7th QB, 12th in California) Billings (Mt.) West four-star TE Matt Ludwig (No. 160 overall, 9th TE, 1st in Montana ) Chicago (Ill.) Simeon four-star EDGE McHale Blade (No. 169 overall, 21st EDGE, 5th in Illinois) Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star CB Brody Jennings (No. 277 overall, 24th CB, 43rd in Florida) Cartersville (Ga.) Cass four-star IOL Bear McWhorter (No. 399 overall, 33rd IOL, 48th in Georgia) Liberty Hill (Tx.) four-star DL Alister Vallejo (No. 411 overall, 44th DL, 55th in Texas) Denver (Colo.) Mullen three-star TE Mason Bonner (No. 600 via On3; 30th TE, 5th in Colorado) Dallas (Tx.) Parish Episcopal three-star WR Jaylen Pile (No. 714 overall, 103rd WR, 113th in Texas) Washington (D.C.) St. John's three-star EDGE Tariq Boney (No. 796 overall, 74th EDGE, 4th in D.C.) Hinsdale (Ill.) Central K Micah Drescher (No. 4 K, Chris Sailer Kicking) Phoenix (Ariz.) Sandra Day O'Connor five-star LS Colton Dermer (No. 6 LS) This article originally appeared on Wolverines Wire: Michigan football target, 4-star CB, commits elsewhere for 2026

Michigan football gains edge for 4-star CB in 2026 class after losing target to rival
Michigan football has one cornerback committed to the 2026 class in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings. But his pledge has been tenuous, and the Wolverines have been looking to add multiple others to the class, whether he sticks or not. The Wolverines lost out on Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star Khary Adams to Notre Dame, but there's another who visited recently, with whom Michigan is in high regard. Advertisement Once thought to be an Ohio State lean (per On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star cornerback Donovan Webb has officially visited Ann Arbor earlier in the month, but also saw Texas Tech, Colorado, Kansas State, and LSU throughout the cycle. However, it appears that LaMar Morgan and company have done a good enough job that On3's Chad Simmons and EJ Holland have both put in predictions that he'll be wearing a winged helmet in the end. The scouting report from 247Sports' Gabe Brooks: Ultra-productive safety prospect with three-phase playmaking experience. Volume tackler with passing game impact as well, as evidenced by consecutive 100-tackle seasons and nine INTs/19 breakups across soph-junior campaigns. Displays impressive athleticism as a return game threat (two TDs as a junior). Ballhawk who looks for the big play. Shows some open-field speed-building ability. Also runs track. Plays a hyper-competitive style. Testing and track data suggest room to improve top-end speed. Can get too physical/handsy at times in coverage. Projects as a high-major safety with possible role versatility depending on down-and-distance situations. Could become a multi-year starter with the instincts and production that suggest potential beyond college. Webb is set to make his decision final in relatively short order, with his commitment date set for July 2. Ojabo 'ready' for crunch NFL season with Baltimore
"Man, it is everything." Nigerian/Scottish linebacker David Ojabo is well aware of the importance of the forthcoming National Football League season as he enters the final year of his contract with Baltimore 25-year-old, who was born in Port Harcourt but grew up in Aberdeenshire, was selected by Ravens in the second round of the 2022 NFL Ojabo has been left playing catch-up after "devastating injuries" - to his Achilles then his knee - restricted him to just five appearances in his first two 6ft 5in powerhouse featured in 13 games last term and is under no illusions about how big a year this is as he looks to really make his mark at the M&T Bank Stadium. "First two years were definitely not what I expected or wanted, or anybody wanted," Ojabo told BBC Scotland. "But I had a full season last year and I'm very grateful, my first off-season healthy, ready to put that in the past and keep pushing forward."It all stems from the work I have put in, all the adversity I have been through, all leading up to right now, looking forward and I just got to go and put it out there."I got some devastating injuries, I had my first full off season healthy, took advantage of it, now I am ready to go and try to win it all. That is the goal for the team."Ojabo only took up American Football eight years were very much investing in his huge potential when they recruited him from the University of Michigan, where he had starred for their Wolverines he is hoping to shine within a squad bristling with quality and produce a much anticipated breakout season."Don't worry about me, man, I will go out there and put my best foot forward and see what happens," he said."Anybody that comes to the NFL, you should feel blessed. The percentages say that you are not going to make it in, so if you are in, whether drafted or undrafted, it is a blessing, so that is how I feel - just blessed to be here."At the end of the day, if you look back as a child, the goal is to go professional. I am a professional, so don't lose sight of the dream. I am living my dream right now."It is perhaps unsurprising there has been plenty of discussion among fans and observers about Ojabo's long-term future."I am not on the media like that, so they don't decide what happens in the building - the people upstairs do," he added. "I don't pay much attention to that - I just listen to the coaches."
