Next Top Model host Erika Heynatz reveals why she'll never watch reality TV again as she shares harsh truths about the show that made her famous

Erika Heynatz has launched a scathing critique of reality TV and the beauty industry, admitting she no longer watches the genre that once helped shape her public profile. The former Australia's Next Top Model host, 49, opened up in a candid interview with Stellar magazine, revealing she has turned her back on reality TV since her early stint fronting the series nearly two decades ago. 'I hosted reality television and then I was a participant in it, but I've never watched it again,' she told the publication. 'I don't have much of a stomach for the redemption stories - it's not for me.' Heynatz, who began modelling while studying graphic design at university, said she now feels disconnected from the world of glossy makeovers and dramatic on-screen arcs. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'There are so many more interesting, creative, charismatic, inspiring people we could be watching on our screens,' she added. Heynatz hosted the first season of Australia's Next Top Model in 2005. She returned to host the second season in 2006 before being replaced by Jodhi Meares from season three onwards. These days, Heynatz has channelled her energy into Stupormodel - her bold new stage production drawing from her own life in the fashion industry. The self-written show sold out its initial two performances and has since added a third due to demand. 'The show is through the lens of my life as a model, but these are universal themes that really strike a chord,' she explained. At the heart of the production is a reckoning with the beauty myths Heynatz admits she helped perpetuate during her modelling and television career. 'Hopefully it brings awareness, because for a lot of women there's this feeling of being complicit in their own oppression when it comes to standards of beauty. Like me,' she said. 'I've been selling that dream, but at the same time, I've also bought snake oil' Erika continued. 'I'm the person who's been transmitting those images and transmitting those standards, but I also cannot escape them.' Heynatz, who also appeared on It Takes Two and competed on Dancing with the Stars. She has since reinvented herself over the years with a string of acting roles in Home and Away, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and other stage productions. Erika previously admitted that there's 'no secret' to juggling her career in the entertainment industry being a mother. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia Erika said: 'It takes a village, it always does. 'We're really lucky we've got family close by and also we take turns, when we want to go out do things, we just swap it over. Fair's fair.' The beauty shares son Charlie with husband Andrew Kingston. Andrew and Erika married in 2007, and in March celebrated an incredible 18 years together.

Podcaster Laura Henshaw reveals shock moment she discovered she was pregnant after struggling with indecision about whether or not she wanted kids

Laura Henshaw has opened up about the moment she found out she was pregnant. The Kic CEO, who has been transparent online about her past indecision regarding having kids, revealed that it was a 'complete shock' to discover she was expecting. The podcast host, 32, told this week's Stellar Magazine, that she was so caught out of the blue that she had a laparoscopy booked in May in order to check for endometriosis. 'I was going to do the London Marathon, have the laparoscopy, and after that start thinking about kids,' she told the publication. And then Laura revealed she missed her period. Laura Henshaw has opened up about the moment she found out she was pregnant after struggling with indecision about whether or not she wanted kids Laura did a pregnancy test the next day, with her husband Dalton having an inkling that she had a bun in the oven. 'I was like, "We can't be. We had had sex once the month before – like, a morning quickie",' she laughed. '[Then], you know, turn the test around and… we are pregnant.' Laura went on to say that she'd watched many Instagram video of her friends announcing they were pregnant, which showed them crying, laughing and emotions. But her reaction wasn't like that. Laura confessed it wasn't because she wasn't grateful or excited but she was just in 'complete shock'. Last year, Laura admitted she wasn't sure she wanted children. 'I thought when I hit 31 I would feel ready, but over the past few years, the older I have gotten — the less ready I feel,' she told Mamamia at the time. Laura added that time played a major role in making the decision and the moment she turned 30 she felt it was quickly 'running out'. She also opened up about struggling with whether or not she wanted to have children in her podcast series Do I Want Kids? in 2024 and admitted her indecision was difficult. 'I felt ashamed about it,' she told ELLE magazine. 'We live in this prenatal society, which basically means that in the society we live in, there is the assumption that we will have children. 'I blinked and all my friends went from talking about contraception to being pregnant or having kids. And I started to feel like, what is wrong with me?' On Thursday, Laura revealed that she was pregnant and shared a sweet Instagram post which showed her getting an ultrasound. Laura beamed for the camera in the black and white clip, while an image on screen showed her growing baby. The podcaster captioned her video, which was inundated with congratulations from friends and fans, with a simple love heart emoji.

Abbie Chatfield hits back at troll who calls her mentally unwell and says she needs medication

Abbie Chatfield has taken to social media to slam a troll who claims the high-profile influencer is mentally 'unwell'. The 29-year-old Bachelor star shared the vile slur to her stories on Tuesday and did not censor her attackers name or image. 'I suggest you ask you doctor to write you a prescription for [antipsychotic medication] Seroquel - you appear to be an emotional wreck,' the person began. 'Watching you on television crying and ranting about nothing,' they continued, adding, 'mental illness is questionable perhaps [sedative] Xanax and intensive therapy would help.' Abbie, who has been applauded by fans for her courageous and her raw posts shared the appalling comments and added her clapback. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Easiest way to discredit a woman who cares about social/political issues is to say she's mentally unwell Imao,' the outspoken social media star said. It comes after Abbie recently hit back at critics who dismiss her success as an 'influencer', insisting it takes more than a pretty face and a few selfies to build a loyal following. Abbie opened up about the criticism with Stellar magazine about the work that goes into her career and her blossoming romance with DJ boyfriend Adam Hyde. The It's A Lot podcast host said she's tired of the term 'influencer' being used to discredit powerful women online. 'Why do we have to work ourselves to the bone to prove that we're worthy of having a platform or having a voice?' she said, adding that the content creation industry is far more demanding than it appears. She also slammed the suggestion that influencing isn't a real job, revealing that the Australian Tax Office would beg to differ. 'The ATO thinks it is – they're on my back all the time,' she quipped. Abbie explained that while male public figures are celebrated for juggling multiple careers, women are often seen as 'inept' if they attempt the same. She cited high-profile business figures are never labelled influencers despite having similar public platforms. The TV personality also opened up about her relationship with Peking Duk star Adam Hyde, revealing the couple recently moved in together after dating for over a year. Calling the romance 'healthy' and 'genuinely beneficial,' she said it's changed her entire outlook on love and what she wants in a partner. 'If I was going to get married and have kids with anyone, it would be Adam,' she shared. Reflecting on her past, Abbie admitted she now recognises how unhealthy some of her previous relationships were – and that being with Adam has set a new standard. 'I either need to be alone or be with Adam,' she declared. 'Those are kind of my two options at this point.' The media star turns 30 this month and said she feels empowered by ageing, not scared. She's excited about what her next chapter holds - both personally and professionally. Elsewhere in the interview, Abbie addressed her public fallout with feminist writer Clementine Ford, saying the experience was deeply hurtful. The feud began after Ford accused her of profiting from performative political engagement and criticised her interview with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Abbie responded on social media, which triggered a wave of backlash from right-wing commentators who reduced the clash to a 'catfight' between feminists. While Abbie didn't blame Ford directly for that reaction, she suggested Ford should have considered how her comments might fuel sexist narratives. Abbie also noted she has often held back from criticising other women publicly to avoid similar outcomes.

Abbie Chatfield addresses 'very demeaning' backlash from feud with Clementine Ford as she DEFENDS the fellow feminist: 'It's not her fault'

Abbie Chatfield has described the fallout from her very public feud with Clementine Ford as 'demeaning'. The podcaster says the right wing response to her 'cat fight' was disappointing and predictable - but she does not blame the fellow feminist for the backlash. 'It was really hurtful because after that, the right-wing comments came in saying, "Nothing better than a cat fight. Two feminists fighting. You can't even agree with each other." It's very demeaning' Abbie tells Stellar Magazine. 'And that isn't Clementine's fault, but it's something that she should have considered, and that I've considered when I haven't called her out for things that I'd say are deeply damaging.' The 29-year-old added that she's most troubled by comments - from Clementine and other detractors alike - that attack her perceived character and not her politics. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'This idea that because I'm not doing things perfectly, that I'm an idiotic narcissist, I don't know anything, I'm brain dead, I'm a deeply basic thinker – they're just insults. It's not actually critiquing my work' she said. Just last month Ford appeared to have taken another dig at Chatfield as the feminist rivals' online feud rumbled on. The pair have been exchanging barbs since Ford accused Chatfield of profiting from the 'performance of being politically engaged'. In the recent salvo, Ford took to her Instagram story to make a pointed reference to the stoush. She shared a screenshot of a text conversation between two unnamed people. The first writes: 'I heard you were taking s*** about me.' The second replies with a defiant: 'Do you wanna hear it again or did you get everything?' Above the exchange, Ford wrote: 'This is the energy I want to be coming into next year with'. Chatfield had made a tearful appeal to Ford to rein back her criticism, saying it was unfair and was a painful addition to the abuse she receives from those who criticise her left-wing politics. Speaking on her It's A Lot podcast, Chatfield admitted she had struggled as she reflected on the feud. 'Been a bit of a rough weekend. Go to my TikTok if you want to know what's going on. I don't want to rehash it, but all I want to say is it's incredibly counterproductive to criticise someone for doing the thing you want them to do,' Abbie began. 'It makes no sense and it gives a certain energy that I think we all know.' She then invited questions from her followers, and used that for another shot at Ford. 'We are doing an "ask me anything" as I didn't prep, because contrary to what Clementine Ford says, I do prep for my own podcasts but I didn't have time to do that,' Abbie said. The feud came about when Ford wrote on her Dear Clementine blog on Substack that some influencers like Chatfield profit from the 'performance of being politically engaged' while criticising anyone who disagrees with them. Chatfield responded with a video post on Instagram in which she called out Ford. 'She's literally writing a burn book about me and doing insults like "She thinks she's so hot"' Chatfield said. 'What a weirdo - oh my God.' Abbie finished off the clip with a plea to the writer. 'Clementine, take a step back from the internet. Take a step back from Reddit please.' Chatfield later returned to the platform in tears as the social media feud took a dark turn. She accused Ford of 'trolling' her, and said it was affecting her mental health and made her feel unsafe. 'I get it enough from people on the right and trolls and men that hate me and want to threaten me and want me dead. Please stop dehumanising me,' she wept. 'Please, you can criticise my content, you can criticise my work, just - I'm begging you - stop lying about my intentions. 'Stop saying that I have a personality disorder. You don't know me. This is so f****ing triggering I just want her to stop. 'It isn't working, you're discouraging others... Please, I'm just trying to do what I can to help. 'I just don't understand why she's so adamant on proving that I'm awful. I don't get it. This is so incredibly stressful and awful what she is doing.' Chatfield said she was now aware of 'someone spreading malicious lies about me again and again … because she claims to know my intentions on f***ing everything'. 'Please stop, Clementine. I am begging you to stop,' she sobbed. 'You don't know me at all, you're a stranger. I deal with so much, every single day. I deal with insults every single day, I do not need it from you because you know that when you say it you validate it for people on the left. 'You are f**ing my mental health. Please f***ing stop.' She then posted screenshots of comments made by the writer, calling Chatfield an 'idiotic narcissist', 'completely shallow' and a 'deeply basic thinker'. 'See how this isn't criticism? It's just insults,' she captioned the screenshots.

Ana de Armas recalls screaming and running for her life on set of new movie

Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas has two major blockbusters coming out this summer - but she was scared for her life on the set of one of them that filmed in Australia Ana de Armas has revealed she was left screaming and running for her life on the set of her latest film. The 37-year-old Cuban-Spanish actress has the lead role in new action film Ballerina - itself a spin-off of the Keanu Reeves fronted John Wick film series. The new movie sees Ana playing a character named Eve Macarro, who was training as a ballerina before falling into a world of espionage and peril. While promoting the new film, Ana also shared anecdotes from the set of another action film she stars in. ‌ She is among the cast of Ron Howard's survival thriller Eden - which was initially released in 2024 but is set to be released in the UK in July. ‌ The action flick, which also stars Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby and Sydney Sweeney, was filmed in Australia - but the set was frequently invaded by scaly visitors. Ana has explained that a snake catcher was on hand at all times to remove such unwanted pests. Speaking to Stellar Magazine, Ana revealed that the cast and crew would run screaming at the warning of reptiles. She recalled: "I remember at random times on set, people just screaming, 'Snake!' "Stopping the take right away – whatever was happening, whoever was talking – we literally dropped everything and ran away, waiting for the guy to come with the stick and take the snake out." She added: "But I think we were fine... no accidents happened." While Ana has a busy summer ahead of film releases ahead of her, she has been attracting even more interest from fans in recent months as rumours swirl that she is dating Tom Cruise. The pair have been spotted out for dinner together and Tom has even flown the actress around in helicopters. ‌ Ana is no stranger to dating high profile men - having been married to Spanish model Marc Clotet from 2011 until 2013, dated Ben Affleck from early 2020 until late 2021, and more recently she was linked to the stepson of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel. But she has reportedly been warned about getting close to 62-year-old Tom. After they were spied seemingly enjoying a Valentine's meal together earlier this year, a source insisted to People that the pair were merely "discussing potential collaborations down the line." They added that the pair "appeared to have no romantic connection, just friends." Fans have been left unconvinced, however, and many have taken to social media to comment about the apparent bond between the Hollywood stars - while also expressing concerns about Tom's dramatic, headline-grabbing past. ‌ He has not had the best luck on the romantic front - having been married three times, with each marriage resulting in divorce. He has also been linked to the controversial religion Scientology. He reportedly joined the Church of Scientology in 1986 after allegedly being introduced by his first wife, Mimi Rogers. The organisation has been slammed as a cult by many and it was invented by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard in 1954. The secretive society reportedly sees members unlock different levels within the organisation by paying certain amounts of money to rise up through the ranks - while also allegedly handing over personal details. Many who have escaped the organisation have claimed they have been followed and intimidated by other members. It has been suggested that Tom's dedication to the organisation sparked the collapse of his marriage to his second wife, Nicole Kidman - however the Aussie star cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her request for divorce when they split in 2001.
