A man awarded 20 years jail for sexual assault of minor
Nandyal: In a significant legal ruling, the Pocso Court in Kurnool sentenced Telugu Gangadhar, a 32-year-old resident of Regadaguduru village, to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a Rs 25,000 fine for sexually assaulting a minor. The case ( was registered under Section 376 IPC and Section 5(1) r/w 6 of the Pocso Act. In a press release on Tuesday, the Nandyal police have stated that the incident came to light when the victim's mother, Saroja, noticed her daughter's deteriorating health and took her to Nandyal Government Hospital, where doctors confirmed her pregnancy. Based on the victim's statement, the police arrested the accused and remanded him. The case was thoroughly investigated under the supervision of senior police officials, including then SDPOs C Maheshwar Reddy and Shruti. A charge sheet with testimony from 20 witnesses was filed before the District & Sessions Judge, Pocso Court, Kurnool. The trial, monitored by Nandyal District SP Adhiraj Singh Rana and DSP R Ramanji Naik, led to the prosecution presenting substantial evidence, resulting in the guilty verdict. Special Public Prosecutor CV Srinivasulu effectively argued the case, ensuring justice for the victim. The efforts of investigating officers, including Atmakur Rural CI M Suresh Kumar Reddy and Velugodu SI Suresh Babu, were acknowledged by the district authorities.

At redressal meetings, police tackle civic and family issues
Panaji: Property disputes, family disputes, money transfers in good faith, encroachment on properties, parking issues, and blocking access by neighbour were some of the issues raised by the public with senior police officers at the Public Grievances Redressal meetings. A total of 25 petitions were submitted, and 100 people attended the meetings at various police stations. 'The complainants were assured of speedy redressal of their grievances,' SP (North) Rahul Gupta said. Gupta said that not caring for senior citizens, property disputes, traffic issues and civil disputes were some of the issues discussed at the meeting. Those who filed complaints and saw no action initiated by police attended the meeting. A deputy superintendent of police (DySP) heard the grievances and directed police to take necessary action to resolve the issues. During the meeting, some people said they gave money in good faith to a person who is now unwilling to return it despite repeated requests. Police told those who borrowed the money to return it to the complainant. Police saw a case wherein one brother feared he might not receive any share in the property as his parents favoured the other brother. Some people raised concerns about encroachments on their properties. On June 21, Gupta will be available at Bicholim police station, SDPO Panaji at Agasaim, SDPO Mapusa at Anjuna, and SDPO Pernem at Mopa. On June 28, he will be available at Colvale, SDPO Porvorim at Saligao, and SDPO Mapusa at Valpoi police station. 'The SDPOs are instructed to hear the grievances and make all possible efforts to resolve issues by giving timely solutions/justice. The SDPOs will maintain a record of visitors attended by them and follow up on the action suggested or directions issued,' the SP said. Additionally, PIs of police stations will be mandatorily available in the police station from 4pm to 6pm every day to redress public grievances. On April 22, Goa police launched 'Samadhan' — aimed to become the ear of the public and help them find an appropriate solution for their grievances, but after some time, it was stopped. Across the state, people were invited to the police stations to discuss their issues with the SDPOs. During the launch of Samadhan, police said it came to their notice that people were unable to meet the SPs and DySPs, so they were approaching the DGP to get their issues resolved.

J-K police seize property of terrorist spreading cross-border terrorism

SSP Kulbir Singh appealed to the youth to control their social media activity and asked them not to access websites that spread anti-national and anti-social activities. Special focus was laid on anti-narcotics operations. SSP Nagpure directed all officers to remain vigilant and conduct proactive drives to dismantle narco networks operating in the region. He also instructed officers to maintain a high level of alertness and operational readiness throughout the Yatra. Regular review meetings, briefing sessions, and mock drills were stressed to ensure the flawless implementation of all plans and protocols, officials said. The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of about 3,888 metres in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K). A week earlier, Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat chaired a joint meeting with officers from the Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, Eid-Ul-Adha and other upcoming events. DM reviews preparations for Bakrid
Patna: DM Thiyagarajan SM and SSP Avkash Kumar on Wednesday directed the officials to strengthen and activate intelligence networks and undertake special precautionary measures at sensitive locations on Bakrid, which is likely to be on June 7. The two officials were addressing a meeting to review law and order preparations for the upcoming festival. Directives were issued to all SDOs and SDPOs to organise peace committee meetings. The officials were instructed to ensure strict surveillance on anti-social elements, keep the social media monitoring cell active. The DM said, "In view of administrative preparations and smooth conduct of the prayers, entry for the general public to the Gandhi Maidan will be restricted from June 5 evening, until the conclusion of the festival." Those coming to offer prayers with vehicles will enter through gate no. 5 and 10. Parking facilities will be available inside the ground. Pedestrians will enter through gate nos. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The DM directed timely completion of all necessary arrangements at the Gandhi Maidan. The officials were ordered to keep all CCTV cameras at the Gandhi Maidan ready, besides deputation of doctors, paramedical staff, and ambulances. Suggestions were also taken from Mahmood Alam, president of the Namaz-e-Edain committee, and other committee members. The DM stated that as the nodal officer, additional district magistrate of disaster management will coordinate with Alam. A temporary police station will also be operational at Gandhi Maidan for security purposes.
