J-K: SSP Udhampur reviews security plans for Amarnath Yatra 2025
Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 10 (ANI): A high-level security meeting chaired by SSP Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpure, IPS, was held on Tuesday to review preparations and strategise for the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2025, officials said.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Udhampur, SDPOs, DySPs, and SHOs from Udhampur, Majalta, Rehambal, and Chenani, along with other officers involved in the Yatra arrangements.
SSP Nagpure emphasised the importance of strong inter-agency coordination, robust security planning, and effective communication to tackle any challenges and ensure the safety of pilgrims.
The discussions centred on key aspects such as security arrangements, intelligence sharing, traffic management, medical aid, emergency response, and logistical support.
Special focus was laid on anti-narcotics operations. SSP Nagpure directed all officers to remain vigilant and conduct proactive drives to dismantle narco networks operating in the region.
He also instructed officers to maintain a high level of alertness and operational readiness throughout the Yatra. Regular review meetings, briefing sessions, and mock drills were stressed to ensure the flawless implementation of all plans and protocols, officials said.
The Shri Amarnathji Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of about 3,888 meters in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K).
The cave houses a naturally formed ice Shivling, believed to represent Lord Shiva, and draws lakhs of devotees every year.
The Yatra is typically held during the Shravan month (July to August) as per the Hindu calendar, under the supervision of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and with coordinated support from security and civil administration. (ANI)

Earlier, Opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam was arrested on sedition charges for allegedly defending Pakistan and its complicity in the Pahalgam terror attack. After getting bail in the case, Islam was again detained under the National Security Act (NSA). On May 2, Mr. Sarma threatened to break the legs of those who raised the 'Pakistan zindabad' slogan in the aftermath of the Jammu and Kashmir terror attack. Addressing a campaign rally for the panchayat elections, he had appealed to the people to pray and give strength to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army so that Pakistani terrorists hiding anywhere in the world can be brought for "breaking their legs". Terrorists struck a prime tourist location in Pahalgam in south Kashmir on April 22 killing 26 people, mostly tourists, and injuring several others.

Delhi aims for a drug-free city by 2027
New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Special Crime Branch of Delhi Police, led by Special CP Devesh Chandra Srivastava, is working towards making Delhi drug-free by 2027, as envisioned by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. Srivastava emphasised that the fight against drug abuse requires a collaborative effort from the public, education, health, and drug control departments, and law enforcement agencies. The Delhi government's initiative to make the city drug-free by 2027 is a significant step towards addressing the issue of drug abuse and promoting a healthier society. Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, Devesh Chandra Srivastava said, 'The fight against drug abuse is not that of the police alone. We need the cooperation of the public as well as all departments like education, health and drug control department. We are all fighting against drug abuse together. The Lieutenant Governor has given us the vision of a drug-free Delhi by 2027. Meaningful efforts are being made for Chief Minister also participated in today's program and assured that the Delhi government and Delhi Police will work together against this evil.' The Delhi government and Delhi Police are working together to tackle drug abuse, with the Chief Minister assuring support for the initiative. According to officials, the accused were found in possession of 2,360 Tramadol-based capsules and 135 bottles of codeine-based syrup--both banned for non-prescription use, valued at over Rs 1 lakh in the international market. DCP, ANTF Crime Apoorva Gupta stated that the action is part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign under the Government of India's 'Zero Tolerance' policy and the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.' Acting on a tip-off, ANTF officials arrested Manish Bhatle (26), who was found carrying two sacks containing illegal drugs near Shri Ram Institute, University Road. He failed to produce any medical prescriptions or purchase invoices and was taken into custody on the spot. A drug inspector from the Drug Control Department confirmed the recovered substances were prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, they said. (ANI)

Delhi: Three Injured as car crashes into two-wheeler, e-rickshaw
New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): A late-night accident in the Narela area of Delhi left three individuals injured when a car lost control and collided with a two-wheeler. The two-wheeler, in turn, crashed into an e-rickshaw. According to the Delhi Police, 'Last night, the Baleno car lost control and hit the bike, which then crashed into the e-rickshaw. Three people were injured in the accident, but they are out of danger.' Police have initiated a search to locate the driver, with investigations ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. 'After the accident, the driver of the Baleno fled the scene, leaving the car behind, and efforts are being made to locate him,' Police said. (ANI)
