J-K police seize property of terrorist spreading cross-border terrorism
Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 12 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Police attached the property of a terrorist trying to spread cross-border terrorism in the Banihal area, SSP Kulbir Singh said.
SSP Kulbir Singh appealed to the youth to control their social media activity and asked them not to access websites that spread anti-national and anti-social activities.
'A crackdown is ongoing in which a legal action is being taken against the terrorists trying to spread cross-border terrorism, and the property in their name is also being seized... The 9th such case occurred in Banihal, where a property was attached. This is against a militant sitting across the border trying to spread terrorism... The public also participates actively in this... I want to appeal to youth to control their social media activity... 'Do not assess websites that spread anti-national and anti-social activities; otherwise, we will take strict legal action,' Singh said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, a high-level security meeting chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpure, IPS, was held to review preparations and strategise for the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2025, officials said.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Udhampur, SDPOs, DySPs, and SHOs from Udhampur, Majalta, Rehambal, and Chenani, along with other officers involved in the Yatra arrangements.
The discussions centred on key aspects such as security arrangements, intelligence sharing, traffic management, medical aid, emergency response, and logistical support.
Special focus was laid on anti-narcotics operations. SSP Nagpure directed all officers to remain vigilant and conduct proactive drives to dismantle narco networks operating in the region.
He also instructed officers to maintain a high level of alertness and operational readiness throughout the Yatra. Regular review meetings, briefing sessions, and mock drills were stressed to ensure the flawless implementation of all plans and protocols, officials said.
The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of about 3,888 metres in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K).
A week earlier, Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat chaired a joint meeting with officers from the Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, Eid-Ul-Adha and other upcoming events. Bengal child rights commission sends notice to BJP's Amit Malviya
Kolkata: The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights has served a show cause letter to Amit Malviya, head of the national information technology cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party, for posting a photograph of a minor girl after her unnatural death in Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on June 16, a commission official said. He attached a photo in which the minor's face was digitally blurred. 'The commission took suo motu cognizance of Malviya's post because the minor could be easily identified despite an effort to digitally blur her face. This is a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act,' a commission official said requesting anonymity. Malviya, a BJP national executive member and co-incharge of the party's West Bengal unit, also alleged in his post that the incident had a communal angle. He wrote: '...Mamata Banerjee's governance has been an unmitigated disaster for women's safety. Worse still, the administration is suppressing the incident, citing 'communal sensitivity' — because the victim is Hindu and the accused are Muslim. This is not secularism. This is state-sponsored injustice...' The West Bengal police issued a rebuttal on X on June 20, calling Malviya's allegation a lie and stating that post mortem examination had revealed that the minor died after consuming poison and there was no evidence of sexual assault whatsoever. 'Lies Again! Efforts are being made from certain quarters to spread misinformation about the death of a minor girl four days back. Facts are, an unnatural death of a minor girl happened. The body was recovered from her house in observance of all formalities. Inquest and post mortem, under proper videography, was done to ascertain the cause of death. Based on the complaint by the mother of the deceased, FIR in Jibantala PS was also registered,' the state police said. 'The post mortem report reveals that there was no sexual assault whatsoever and the death was caused by consumption of unknown poison. Investigation is in progress. A criminal case is being started against the person who shared the photograph of the deceased minor girl on social media in violation of the Hon'ble Apex Court guidelines and also attempted to fuel communal disharmony,' the post added. Malviya did not comment on his post and the commission's show cause letter till Sunday afternoon. Bengal BJP unit's chief spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said: 'Answers to all questions raised will be given in due time.'

Family Brings Home Body Of Manipur Flight Attendant, Hundreds Pay Tributes
Imphal: The body of 20-year-old Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma, a flight attendant from Manipur who was killed in the Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, was brought to Imphal today. She was one of the two flight attendants from the state who were killed in the crash of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The other was Lamnunthem Singson, 26. Nganthoi Sharma's family members, devastated by the huge loss, have been inconsolable since the news of the tragedy reached them on June 12. The family went to Ahmedabad and stayed there for the painful wait of the confirmation of the DNA sample. K Nandesh Kumar Sharma, the father of K Nganthoi Sharma, in Imphal on Sunday (ANI) Air India recruited her in Imphal three years ago, while she was studying in an undergraduate programme. "She got selected and was based in Mumbai," a family member said. There were 242 passengers on board the Air India flight. Only one passenger survived the crash.
