Kaizer Chiefs: Top FIVE most valuable players and their staggering price tags
Kaizer Chiefs is one of the richest football clubs in South Africa. So, it comes as no suprise that Amakhosi players are amongst the most expensive in the Transfer market. Kaizer Chiefs are well-known for their incredible buying power. In fact, at one point Amakhosi had the three highest-paid players in the PSL – Keagan Dolly, Samir Nurkovic and Khama Billiat – at the same time. Now, despite continuous failed campaigns in the Betway Premiership, the Soweto giants still boast some of the most valuable players in the entire PSL. * Please note that all of these values are based off of the reported latest player values on Transfermarkt. Yusuf Maart (Amakhosi Captain) – (R20.7 MILLION) Chiefs captain Maart is valued at approximately, $1 million. This equates to almost R21 million (R20.7 million). Thus, making him the most highly valued player in the transfer market. 2. Given Msimango/Reeve Frosler – R18.7 MILLION Interestingly, two under-utilised defenders share the honour of being Amakhosi's second-highest most valuable players. Both centre back, Msimango and right back, Frosler have an estimated market value of $900 000 which equotes to R18.65 million (roughly R18.7 million). 3. Ashley Du Preez – R17.6 MILLION The speedy attacker has blown hot and cold since joining Chiefs from Stellies a few seasons ago. However, whilst his transfer market evaluation has dipped to $850 000 (R17.6 millin), he is still one of the most valuable players at Amakhosi. Moreover, he is also one of the most highly valued players in the PSL today. 4. Mduduzi Shabalala – R14.5 MILLION Mdu Shabalala is one of the fastest-rising young talents in the PSL. A couple of seasons ago he was playing for Amakhosi's DDC side. Now, he is a regular starter in the Chiefs senior side and one of the most valuable players in the PSL. 'Mdu' is valued at $700 000 which is approximately R14.5 million. 5. Rushwin Dortley/Bradley Cross – R13.5 MILLION Both youngsters were recently signed when Nasreddine Nabi took over the reins at Chiefs. So, whilst neither transfer fee was disclosed, we know both players are worth big money. Furthermore, both Dortley and Cross are valued at $R650 000. Meaning, both men have an estimated transfermarkt value of R13.47 million (R13.5 million). Blom was one of the most valuable players before he returned to the United Stated. His market value currently sits at $900 000 (R18.7 million). Thus, mmaking him one of the most valuable players to leave Chiefs in recent seasons. Brutal defender, Inacio Miguel has an estimated market evaluation that sees him worth $600 000 (R12.43 million). Meaning, if any of the players on this list depart from Naturena, Miguel will become one of the top five most valuable players left at Chiefs. Centurion's sinkhole problem digs deeper hole in city's pockets
The sinkhole currently measures at approximately 40m in diameter and 3.5m in depth. A sinkhole at Burger Ave And Langebrink Rd in Lyttelton Manor, Centurion on 9 May 2025. Picture: Gallo Images / Lefty Shivambu) A third sinkhole formed in Centurion last week – one of an estimated 50 that the city did not have the budget to fix. About 25 households of Lyttleton Manor in Centurion were locked in their area on Friday after a huge new sinkhole formed overnight at the corner of Burger Avenue and Langerbrink Road. City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the sinkhole currently measured at approximately 40m in diameter and 3.5m in depth. 'The sinkhole remains unstable and active and therefore the area has been cordoned off and would be closed to all traffic until further notice,' Mashigo said. Water supply affected The sinkhole has affected critical underground infrastructure, including water supply lines. As a precaution, water supply to the area has been temporarily shut off in parts of Lyttleton Manor, Kloofsig and the Lyttleton Manor Extension 6 industrial area. Earlier this year, the city said that R14.5 million had been allocated during the current financial year to repair nine small and low-priority sinkholes and in March, Mashigo said there were no emergency funds allocated for sinkholes. A concerned resident who declined to be named, said the water and power were restored in the early hours of Saturday. 'On Sunday, they were changing water pipes. We had a water tank to provide us with water in the meantime,' he said. The residents said they were waiting for feedback on the restoration of the road. This is the third massive sinkhole in Centurion this year, after two developed in Lyttleton in February – one on the corner of Trichardt and Van Riebeeck Street in Lyttleton and another on DF Malan Road. Lyttleton councillor Johan van Buuren said he had four sinkholes in his area, two old ones and two that formed earlier this year. 'No further work has been done on any of them,' he said. While the City of Tshwane was out fixing a hole here and there, more complaints flooded in, with some residents saying a hole they had reported last year was still unrepaired. Margaret Brown, who lives in Centurion, said she reported the pothole on the main road in and out is Apiesdoring Drive before Christmas. To date, nothing has been done about them. Shirley Becker said she lost a tyre and rim due to a pothole in Pretorius Street and had to fork out R3 000 to repair the damage, while Paula Calitz said a pothole in Botha Avenue cost her R60 000 in repairs last year. In lockdown with no water or electricity … by a sinkhole
The site is just four blocks from a Tshwane municipal office and is surrounded by three schools, at least two churches, a shopping centre, and a hospital. Some Tshwane residents could call into work this morning and tell their boss they are in lockdown. This is after a huge new sinkhole formed overnight on the corner of Burger Avenue and Langerbrink Road in Lyttleton Manor, Centurion. The site is just four blocks from a Tshwane municipal office and is surrounded by three schools, at least two churches, a shopping centre, and a hospital. Centurion is reportedly grappling with more than 50 sinkholes at the moment. Water and lights outage ahead? To make matters worse, residents will soon be without water because the sinkhole has broken the water pipes in the area. There were concerns that the lights could also go out if the transformer on the edge of the sinkhole fell, but residents said the lights went out at around 10 am. It was estimated that about 25 households were locked in after another sinkhole developed in the same street last year, with the first one still unrepaired. Wake up to a hole A concerned resident, who agreed to speak anonymously, said the sinkhole formed around 2 am on Friday. 'One of the neighbours says they went to the loo around that time, and there was no water to flush or wash their hands. 'Then later, between 4 am and 5 am, a neighbour was driving out and saw the sinkhole. He told his neighbours, who in turn, alerted others. 'We drove our cars out of the street, to a safer area because, as it is, no cars can drive in and out as the sinkhole is right at the intersection,' he said. A transformer sits on the edge of the sinkhole. Picture: Supplied 'Water is gushing out from the sinkhole, and we do not have water in our homes.' The resident said that while a section of the road has been closed off and there are flashing police lights to warn unsuspecting drivers, Langerbrink Road is one of the busiest streets in the area. No money to fix sinkholes? While the City was yet to comment on the recent sinkhole, they had already admitted that there was no budget to fix the current sinkholes. In January, City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said that R14.5 million had been allocated during the current financial year to repair nine small and low-priority sinkholes. Two months later, Mashigo said no emergency funds had been allocated for sinkhole repairs. 'The long-term plan is to upgrade all the ageing wet services, especially water pipes, to dolomitic standards to minimise the occurrences of leaks and potential sinkhole formation,' he said. The area around the sinkhole has been closed off. Picture: Supplied Lyttleton's battles with sinkholes In February, two sinkholes formed in the area, one in the corner of Trichardt and Van Riebeeck Street and another on DF Malan Road. Lyttleton Councillor Johan van Buuren said he had four sinkholes in his area, two old sinkholes and two that formed earlier this year. 'No further work has been done on any of the sinkholes,' he said.
