Kaizer Chiefs: Top FIVE most valuable players and their staggering pricetags

Kaizer Chiefs is one of the richest football clubs in South Africa. So, it comes as no suprise that Amakhosi players are amongst the most expensive in the Transfer market.
Kaizer Chiefs are well-known for their incredible buying power.
In fact, at one point Amakhosi had the three highest-paid players in the PSL – Keagan Dolly, Samir Nurkovic and Khama Billiat – at the same time. Now, despite continuous failed campaigns in the Betway Premiership, the Soweto giants still boast some of the most valuable players in the entire PSL.
* Please note that all of these values are based off of the reported latest player values on Transfermarkt. Yusuf Maart (Amakhosi Captain) – (R20.7 MILLION)
Chiefs captain Maart is valued at approximately, $1 million.
This equates to almost R21 million (R20.7 million). Thus, making him the most highly valued player in the transfer market.
2. Given Msimango/Reeve Frosler – R18.7 MILLION
Interestingly, two under-utilised defenders share the honour of being Amakhosi's second-highest most valuable players. Both centre back, Msimango and right back, Frosler have an estimated market value of $900 000 which equotes to R18.65 million (roughly R18.7 million).
3. Ashley Du Preez – R17.6 MILLION
The speedy attacker has blown hot and cold since joining Chiefs from Stellies a few seasons ago. However, whilst his transfer market evaluation has dipped to $850 000 (R17.6 millin), he is still one of the most valuable players at Amakhosi.
Moreover, he is also one of the most highly valued players in the PSL today.
4. Mduduzi Shabalala – R14.5 MILLION
Mdu Shabalala is one of the fastest-rising young talents in the PSL. A couple of seasons ago he was playing for Amakhosi's DDC side. Now, he is a regular starter in the Chiefs senior side and one of the most valuable players in the PSL. 'Mdu' is valued at $700 000 which is approximately R14.5 million.
5. Rushwin Dortley/Bradley Cross – R13.5 MILLION
Both youngsters were recently signed when Nasreddine Nabi took over the reins at Chiefs. So, whilst neither transfer fee was disclosed, we know both players are worth big money.
Furthermore, both Dortley and Cross are valued at $R650 000. Meaning, both men have an estimated transfermarkt value of R13.47 million (R13.5 million).
Blom was one of the most valuable players before he returned to the United Stated. His market value currently sits at $900 000 (R18.7 million). Thus, mmaking him one of the most valuable players to leave Chiefs in recent seasons.
Brutal defender, Inacio Miguel has an estimated market evaluation that sees him worth $600 000 (R12.43 million). Meaning, if any of the players on this list depart from Naturena, Miguel will become one of the top five most valuable players left at Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs missing four players, including Duba!

Kaizer Chiefs returned to training in preparation for their upcoming pre-season tour in Europe, which will see them take on Dutch giants FC Utrecht. However, as they returned for their first training session on June 20, onlookers noticed four absentees: Mduduzi Shabalala, Bruce Bvuma, Wandile Duba, and Aden McCarthy. The reasoning behind their non-inclusion is that they recently participated in the COSAFA Cup, which was deemed sufficient to grant them additional time off before returning to practice. Each player is expected to board a plane to the Netherlands. PSL winner Percy Tau has made it clear that he is happy to join AmaKhosi for next to nothing; however, former Kaizer Chiefs forward Katlego Mphela believes this would be a mistake. 'In the past few seasons Chiefs have not been doing well despite winning a trophy last season and they need players who will help them change the team's fortunes,' said Mphela. 'But I don't think signing Percy Tau will be the solution if you look at the history of most former Sundowns players who joined Chiefs, including myself. We don't live up to expectations. There are a lot of expectations, and that puts pressure on the players.' 'Look at what happened to Keagan Dolly, Khama Billiat or Edward Manqele.' 'Yes, they are different players but expectations are the same and history is the same,' he added. 'It's a tricky one because Percy has a lot of quality and experience but the history will tell Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Kaizer Chiefs chase teenage sensation!

Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring teenage sensation Neo Rapoo but would like to get a deal done soon with Orlando Pirates also in the conversation. The 19-year-old has been making a name for himself, albeit playing for SuperSport United, who were idling around the relegation playoffs for the majority of last season. 'Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both keen to sign SuperSport United left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new season,' an inside source revealed. 'His performances as he led South Africa U20 to the Africa Cup of Nations title earned him interest in Scandinavia and the Gulf but sources as Matsatsansa have confirmed Chiefs and Pirates are both seriously after the player who is seen as future senior national team left-back.' 'With Orlando Pirates having released Paseka Mako and the retirement of Innocent Maela, their interest on the promising full-back comes as no surprise, while Chiefs are looking to remedy a position that has plagued them in the last couple of seasons.' The Lonehill-native amassed 11 league appearances, during which he assisted once. Another player Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates both want is AmaKhosi Laurindo Depu Aurelio. 'What I can tell you is that both teams had their scouts there. The scouts were all happy with what they saw in Depu and they enquired about him,' a source confirmed. 'Apparently Kaizer Chiefs wanted their defender Inacio Miguel to help them talk to the player and his representatives. And Orlando Pirates also believed to be willing to talk to the player. They have their different reasons but apparently the scouts from both clubs are happy with what they saw.' A second source confirmed the rumour, saying, 'Apparently Chiefs don't want to dwell much on Feisal Salum if the price is still that high and will now consider Depu.' Crusaders clinch record-extending 15th Super Rugby title

The Crusaders turned to forward power to beat the Chiefs 16-12 in a tense Super Rugby final on Saturday and clinch a record 15th title. The home side were out-scored two tries to one in Christchurch, but 11 points from the boot of flyhalf Rivez Reihana proved decisive in a brutal contest dominated by defence. The Crusaders played no-frills rugby to extend their perfect record to 32 wins in home playoff matches since the competition began in 1996. The Chiefs finished runners-up for a third successive season, matching the unwanted record of South Africa's Lions from 2016-18. The result was a remarkable turnaround for Crusaders coach Rob Penney after his side failed to reach the playoffs last year. Crusaders fullback Will Jordan said the title was the most memorable of the eight he has won and that his team had been motivated to turn around a forgettable 2024 campaign. 'Where we were end of last year, we had a mountain to climb,' Jordan told Sky TV. 'Everyone had to dig deep. It hasn't been easy. It's taken some long hours and some hard conversations. But what a feeling. 'I feel for the Chiefs because they've come so close and they threw everything at us. We just found a way to come home in the tight moments,' he said. The Crusaders have won 11 more titles than any other team, although two of them came during the Covid-19 pandemic when regional competitions were contested. Ahead 13-12 at the interval, Reihana's third penalty was the only score in a second half largely dominated by the Crusaders. They kept the game tight, relying on their trademark forward power that included a muscular scrum. It was enough to suffocate a Chiefs side laden with match-winners who had beaten the Crusaders in their two previous matches this season. The Chiefs struck first through a try to prop George Dyer after the Crusaders were reduced to 14 men with captain David Havili shown a yellow card for a high tackle. The home side levelled when Havili returned through a clever try to hooker Codie Taylor, who burst 20 metres down the blindside of a maul to score in the left corner. Reihana landed the sideline conversion and kicked two penalties in quick succession to put the Crusaders six points clear. The Chiefs closed to within one before the interval when fullback Shaun Stevenson crossed out wide off a long pass from lock Tupou Vaa'i. Errors crept into the Chiefs game as the pressure mounted and they spent much of the second half defending in their own territory. The match was the last in charge for coach Clayton McMillan, who was unable to end a Chiefs trophy drought dating back to 2013. 'We make no excuses, the Crusaders were the better team, they squeezed us in all the right areas,' McMillan said. 'Even though we were right in it until the end, it was a step too far. We'll get the job done one day.' McMillan takes over as head coach at Irish club Munster later this year.
