Valerie Bertinelli Shares the Trader Joe's Snack She's ‘Addicted' to — and Walked Around a Store 3 Times to Find

Valerie Bertinelli revealed she's "addicted" to Trader Joe's Trio of Soft Licorice Twists She shared an Instagram video in which she recalled trying to find them in a store that wasn't her usual location They come in three flavors: ripe raspberry, tropical mango and tart green appleValerie Bertinelli is making a confession about a certain chewy candy. 'I haven't been to a Trader Joe's in weeks, months possibly, because I am addicted to these,' she admitted in a video taken in her car that was posted to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, June 4. The celebrity chef, 65, then held up a package of the grocery chain's Trio of Soft Licorice Twists. 'But what am I supposed to do?' Bertinelli asked. 'I'm driving home from an appointment. I'm stopped at a stoplight. And I go, 'Well, look at that right around the corner, there's a Trader Joe's.' I've never been to that particular Trader Joe's because I don't often drive down this particular street. But I might as well turn left and go into the very crowded parking lot and wait for a parking space." Explaining that it was raining and she didn't have an umbrella, the Food Network alum went on to share her next course of action. 'Why don't I just walk into the store and get rained on so I can look for these particular things that I'm addicted to?' she continued. 'And I don't know the layout of this particular store, because every Trader Joe's is laid out differently. But did I walk around the store three times to see if I could find these, because they're not in the place they usually are, at the Trader Joe's I usually go to?' 'Okay, so what?' she asked viewers. 'And I ain't telling you how many bags I bought.' A description of the product on the Trader Joe's website calls the twists 'superbly soft and pleasantly chewy.' They come in three flavors: ripe raspberry, tropical mango and tart green apple. Bertinelli shared another playful anecdote on her Instagram Stories this week. In a video posted Tuesday, June 3, the One Day at a Time star said she was mistaken for a Valerie Bertinelli lookalike while running a recent errand. 'People are adorable,' she began the funny story. Bertinelli said when she visited a government office earlier that day for some paperwork, she was approached by a stranger while walking out. 'This guy stops me, holds up his phone and says, 'Hey ma'am, anybody ever tell you you look like her?'' she recalled. 'And it's me. And I said, 'Yeah, all the time.'' 'Everybody waiting in line all started laughing,' she added. 'I don't know if they knew it was me, or they really thought it wasn't and that I looked really a lot like Valerie Bertinelli. … We had a good laugh. And I love people.' opened up to her followers on Instagram on Memorial Day, May 26, with an emotional post that was prompted by an old photo that popped up on her phone. 'There really needs to be a warning, 'strong emotions incoming' when Apple photos decide to highlight a photo of the day,' she opened her post, which accompanied a photo of her late ex-husband, guitar legend with her mother, Nancy Bertinelli, that was apparently taken on May 26, 2017. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 'A flood of memories come rushing in when I see this photo. I'm talkin from the moment I introduced Ed to my mom in 1980, the joy of Wolfie's birth, the handful of arguments they would have, my effort to mediate them, and the delight in watching them laugh together. A lot of life lived together,' wrote the former Food Network star, referring to the birth of her son with Eddie, . 'I remember when Ed sent this to me,' she wrote referring to the photo she posted of the guitar legend, with short spiky hair, with his arm around her mother. 'I called him the morning mom passed and it hit him really hard. He was crying and saying how he had just gotten to see her in AZ a couple years earlier and how grateful he was. They had a complicated relationship that was centered by mutual respect and a deep love for one another, they understood each other, even through their flaws or maybe because of. I miss them both very much,' she continued. Nancy Bertinelli died of rheumatoid arthritis in 2019 at the age of 82, while Eddie Van Halen passed away at the age of 65 in October 2020 of a stroke after battling cancer. 'Anyway, I'm gonna go off and have a good healthy cry. The kind of cry where I feel lucky to have loved and have been loved and the deep grief that goes with no longer being able to hold them and tell them that,' Bertinelli added. 'May you all all have a blessed Memorial Day. 🤍'Bertinelli's followers sympathized with the former One Day at a Time star in the comments. 'I read a quote here yesterday and it hit me hard. 'Grief is love with nowhere to go'. I'm sure you've maybe stumbled across it yourself. I hope you feel better after a good cry, let it out and have a beautiful day ❤️,' one wrote. 'Sending hugs your way. What a beautiful photo. Two important people in your world. May today be filled with good memories. ❤️🙏🏻❤️,' another added. Kim Kardashian's "The Fifth Wheel" Find Its Director in Eva Longoria

Yara Sameh The Netflix pic "The Fifth Wheel", starring Kim Kardashian, is adding even more star power by tapping Eva Longoria to direct and Gloria Sanchez coming as producers of the comedy. The movie is scripted by longtime Saturday Night Live writer Paula Pell and Janine Brito (One Day at a Time). Both Kardashian and Pell are producing along with Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell through their Gloria Sanchez banner as well as Cris Abrego and Longoria's Hyphenate Media Group. While plot details are being kept under wraps, sources say Kardashian will play the eponymous 'fifth wheel' alongside a female ensemble cast. The project has been a priority ever since the streamer landed the package over Thanksgiving weekend in 2023 following a competitive auction. To no one's surprise, given Pell's track record, the script has been described as one of the funnier in some time by a number of buyers who were involved in the auction. That stamp of approval was legitimatized with Gloria Sanchez boarding the project. The production company has built a resume of not only popular hit comedies like "Booksmart" and "Theater Camp" but also films led by strong female talent both in front and behind the camera. Once Sanchez jumped in, the next step was finding a director and it soon became important to all parties to find a female director to help tell the story. After several meetings, execs and producers landed on Longoria as the right fit following her major studio directing debut, "Flamin' Hot". The Searchlight biopic blew away the town after it premiered at SXSW 2023, where it won the audience award and earned praise specifically pointed at Longoria for her directing skills. While that film leaned more on the dramatic end, "Flamin' Hot" showcased plenty of laughs and heart and became a big selling point for this pic. As for Kardashian, this isn't her only acting job in the coming months, she will be seen in Hulu series " All's Fair ," which dropped to a big reaction last week. The "The Fifth Wheel" role comes after she starred in the most recent season of FX's "American Horror Story", in which she played a publicist named Siobhan who works for Emma Roberts' actress character Anna Victoria Alcott. Her role as a publicist earned her strong notices. In addition to an appearance as herself in 2018's "Ocean's Eight", Kardashian also lent her voice to the character Delores in the two recent animated PAW Patrol movies. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies

NBC's ‘Lopez vs. Lopez' cancellation underscores ongoing broadcast struggles

On May 9, NBC canceled 'Lopez vs. Lopez' after three seasons. The multi-cam sitcom first aired in 2022 and concluded its third season in February. The show explored the dynamics within a working class family that learns to coexist after an old-school Latino dad (George Lopez) moves in with his mostly-estranged Gen-Z daughter (Mayan Lopez), her boyfriend (Matt Shively) and their son (Brice Gonzalez). Selenis Leyva and Al Madrigal are also series regulars on the Latino-led cast. The initial concept was created by the father-daughter duo and showrunner Debby Wolfe, who previously worked on shows 'One Day at a Time' and 'Love, Victor.' Wolfe drew inspiration for the show during the COVID-19 pandemic after doom scrolling through TikTok and catching a glimpse of Mayan, who was clearing up rumors about her parents' divorce while twerking upside down. Like their on-screen relationship, the real-life Lopez family has had a documented fraught relationship. Mayan, who has been transparent about her personal life on social media, was at one point estranged from George. Their show 'Lopez vs. Lopez' was one of the few network TV shows that tackled themes like generational trauma and machismo in the Latino community. 'I see 'Lopez vs. Lopez' as a show for everyone, but also a love letter to our community,' Mayan told The Times last year ahead of season two. In true Gen-Z fashion, Mayan uploaded a video to both TikTok and Instagram, in which she pointed to the Deadline article about the show's cancellation and mouthed the words to a trending audio to explain her own feelings: 'That was rude, that was pretty f— rude.' In the Instagram caption, she wrote: 'It is the Lopez way that we will not be down for long. This is just the beginning.' George himself uploaded a similar clip to his own Instagram profile. In one part of the caption, he wrote: 'This wasn't just a show, it was and is our lives. We created a family.' Wolfe also shared a fan-made petition on social media named 'Save Lopez vs. Lopez' on her Instagram, which now has more than 800 signees. It called for Netflix, which acquired the first two seasons last year, to keep the show alive. 'This show provides important representation for the Latino community and brings families together on a Friday night,' the description stated. (De Los has reached out to the Lopez family's representatives for comment.) 'Lopez vs. Lopez' was the only NBC comedy series awaiting renewal before NBCUniversal's upfront presentation in New York City on Monday, which detailed the next year's projects for the entertainment conglomerate. The cancellation does not come as a surprise to Ana-Christina Ramón, director of the Entertainment and Media Research Initiative at UCLA, who says that broadcast television has been going through a difficult period: 'It's unfortunate that one show is a victim to the changing industry.' ' A lot of people think that broadcast is dead,' says Ramón. 'The hardest hit was the pandemic, which made it difficult for [a] TV season to come out on time. After the [union] strikes, a lot of the shows had smaller seasons.' Television networks were already struggling to compete with streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, according to the 2023 UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report. By July 2024, streaming services had grown to 41.4% of television viewing compared with broadcast and cable, the report states. Though the NBC move does not single out 'Lopez vs. Lopez.' Other canceled shows include 'Night Court,' 'Suits LA,' 'The Irrational' and 'Found.' NBCUniversal is likely making room for next season's basketball coverage after cutting a $2.5-billion NBA deal in 2024, says Ramón. However, the lack of Latino representation on television, both in broadcast and streaming, leaves a gaping hole in representation for the Latino community. Multiple Latino-led projects have been axed within the last two years across all platforms: Apple TV's 'Acapulco,' ABC's 'Not Dead Yet,' Hulu's 'This Fool' and Freevee's 'Primo.' 'With the way that Latinx people have been demonized in terms of immigration, it's really a pivotal time to see Latinx people living everyday lives as normal Americans,' says Ramón. Still, there are some glimmers of hope for broadcast television. NBC renewed Season 2 of Reba McEntire's 'Happy Place,' with Mexican American actress Belissa Escobedo in the lead role. The police procedural ABC drama 'Will Trent,' starring Puerto Rican actor Ramon Rodriguez, will return for Season 4. Also, CBS recently picked up the workplace comedy 'DMV,' with Dominican American actress Gigi Zumbado, and renewed Season 4 of 'Fire Country,' starring Mexican American actor Kevin Alejandro. Its awaited spin-off, 'Sheriff Country,' stars Brazilian actress Morena Baccarin.

The From Dusk Till Dawn director had plenty of praise for Bertinelli too. 'I've worked with some major action stars in my career, but no one has ever been as SAVAGE and RELENTLESS as MAMA WOLF Valerie Bertinelli in THE END!' he captioned a clip of the One Day at a Time star. 'Bone Crunching Goodness!' 'I've never thrown a punch on camera before 😳,' Bertinelli commented on Rodriguez's post, before calling him a 'genius' and a 'super nice guy.' Wolfgang, whose father is late Van Halen frontman Eddie Van Halen, shows off his guitar shredding skills in the video, which also features appearances from Slash, Danny Trejo, and Wolgfang's wife Andraia Van Halen. "1, 2, 3 and..." he shouted, before his mom held down on the one note. "I love you," the cookbook author giggled, as her son said, "Love you, mom." Bertinelli captioned the post, "To the 🌙 and back, Wolfie 🤍 Happy Birthday 🥰 p.s.
