Kim Kardashian's "The Fifth Wheel" Find Its Director in Eva Longoria
Yara Sameh
The Netflix pic "The Fifth Wheel", starring Kim Kardashian, is adding even more star power by tapping Eva Longoria to direct and Gloria Sanchez coming as producers of the comedy.
The movie is scripted by longtime Saturday Night Live writer Paula Pell and Janine Brito (One Day at a Time). Both Kardashian and Pell are producing along with Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell through their Gloria Sanchez banner as well as Cris Abrego and Longoria's Hyphenate Media Group.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, sources say Kardashian will play the eponymous 'fifth wheel' alongside a female ensemble cast.
The project has been a priority ever since the streamer landed the package over Thanksgiving weekend in 2023 following a competitive auction. To no one's surprise, given Pell's track record, the script has been described as one of the funnier in some time by a number of buyers who were involved in the auction.
That stamp of approval was legitimatized with Gloria Sanchez boarding the project. The production company has built a resume of not only popular hit comedies like "Booksmart" and "Theater Camp" but also films led by strong female talent both in front and behind the camera.
Once Sanchez jumped in, the next step was finding a director and it soon became important to all parties to find a female director to help tell the story.
After several meetings, execs and producers landed on Longoria as the right fit following her major studio directing debut, "Flamin' Hot". The Searchlight biopic blew away the town after it premiered at SXSW 2023, where it won the audience award and earned praise specifically pointed at Longoria for her directing skills.
While that film leaned more on the dramatic end, "Flamin' Hot" showcased plenty of laughs and heart and became a big selling point for this pic.
As for Kardashian, this isn't her only acting job in the coming months, she will be seen in Hulu series "
All's Fair
," which dropped to a big reaction last week.
The "The Fifth Wheel" role comes after she starred in the most recent season of FX's "American Horror Story", in which she played a publicist named Siobhan who works for Emma Roberts' actress character Anna Victoria Alcott. Her role as a publicist earned her strong notices.
In addition to an appearance as herself in 2018's "Ocean's Eight", Kardashian also lent her voice to the character Delores in the two recent animated PAW Patrol movies.

4 Reasons Why We're Excited About ‘Katalog' Series
Just a few hours ago, the official trailer for one of the year's most anticipated series dropped, and it didn't take long before it started dominating conversations everywhere. With a surge of hype building ahead of its release on July 17, the buzz is real. Brought to you by Netflix and Magic Beans, the series stars Mohamed Farrag, Riham Abdel Ghafour, Bayoumy Fouad, Tara Emad, Ali El Bialy, Retal Abdel Aziz, Donia Sami, and more. From the trailer alone, it's clear this drama is set to keep audiences hooked. The storyline hints are intriguing, and here are four reasons why it's already made its way onto our must-watch list. Farrag's Powerful Portrayal of the Struggles of a Single Dad It looks like Mohamed Farrag's character is about to go through an emotional roller coaster as a single father of two. Balancing the lives of two children, each with different ages and needs, seems to be pulling him into an endless series of challenges. And from what we can tell, the catalog might just be his only source of guidance through it all, don't you think? From the Makers of Mawdoo3 3a2ely and Waafet Regala There's something very familiar about this series, a thread it shares with those two brilliantly admired productions. It falls into that unique space of emotional, human-driven dramas that almost feel like the kind of stories that resonate with everyone. Safe to say, it's shaping up to be a family-friendly watch with depth and heart. And with Ahmed El Ganainy and Magic Beans behind it, that's already a strong sign of quality and storytelling worth tuning in for. A Bold Take on Teen Challenges and Coming-of-Age Conflicts Whether it's their needs, their thoughts, or their impulsive decisions, teens are undoubtedly challenging to navigate on every level. Finding the right way to connect with and support them takes time, patience, and a lot of trial and error. This drama feels like it's offering the right dose of all that, a space to explore these layered conflicts, no matter which side of the story you find yourself on. A Brilliantly Cast Ensemble with Promising On-Screen Chemistry One of the strongest reasons to keep this drama on your radar is its brilliantly chosen cast, led by director Khaled El Halafawy. Bringing together Mohamed Farrag and Riham Abdel Ghafour in a story that weaves love, grief, and gratitude already feels like a recipe for powerful performances. The chemistry between the entire ensemble looks incredibly promising, and it's clear this cast is set to deliver something truly moving on screen.

"Thunderbolts" Sets Digital, 4K & Blu-ray Release Dates
Yara Sameh The New Avengers are coming home. Marvel's latest adventure, "Thunderbolts*", will hit video on demand on July 1 and get a 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on July 29, with preorders coming soon. "Thunderbolts*" stars Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Red Gaurdian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, a ragtag team of antiheroes who are pitted against each other by Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. While "Thunderbolts*" underperformed at the box office, it was well-received by fans and critics, and seen as a return to form after Marvel's at-best uneven Phase Five. The July 1 streaming date means fans who missed it in theaters will be able to rent or buy it at home, although there's no word yet on a Disney+ release date. The 4K Ultra HD digital and physical release will feature Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as bonus features like deleted scenes, a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and commentary by director Jake Schreier. Marvel is also releasing collectable versions of the Blu-ray, including a SteelBook version featuring custom artwork, plus a Walmart-exclusive Blu-ray featuring pop-up artwork. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
