Glen Powell goes undercover as quarterback Chad Powers in Hulu football comedy teaser
Hulu has released the first teaser for its upcoming comedy series Chad Powers, starring Glen Powell as a disgraced college quarterback attempting a secret comeback. The series will premiere with its first two episodes on September 30. In the teaser, which debuted during Game 4 of the NBA Finals, Powell plays Russ Holliday, a once-promising quarterback whose career collapses after a major blunder on the field. Facing public backlash and mockery on social media, Russ decides to reinvent himself by going undercover as 'Chad Powers,' complete with a wig and prosthetic nose, in an attempt to rejoin football anonymously. 'If I can't play as Russ, I'll play as someone else,' Powell's character declares in the clip. Despite his unusual appearance, the teaser shows Chad impressing teammates on the field while drawing humorous remarks off it — including a cheerleader who quips, 'He's, like, extremely ugly.' The series also stars Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn. The pilot was co-written by Powell and Michael Waldron. Chad Powers is based on a comedic sketch from Eli's Places, produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions for ESPN+. Powell also serves as executive producer through his Barnstorm Productions, alongside Eli and Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, ESPN, and producers from Anomaly Pictures.

Broncos learn 'Hard Knocks' fate after NFL announces 2025 team
Broncos learn 'Hard Knocks' fate after NFL announces 2025 team After the NFL revised its rules for compulsory appearances on Hard Knocks, the Denver Broncos became eligible to be featured on this year's version of the popular NFL Films show on HBO. The Broncos have not, however, been selected to appear on the show this summer. Instead, the NFL announced Wednesday that the Buffalo Bills will be featured on the summer version of Hard Knocks, with camera crews following the Bills through training camp and preseason. The league also debuted a new version of Hard Knocks last fall that follows an entire division during the season. After featuring the AFC North last year, the in-season edition of the show is set to follow the NFC East in 2025. Eventually, the divisional rotation will land on the AFC West. So the Broncos are poised to be featured on some version of Hard Knocks within the next six years. Hard Knocks is televised on HBO and available to stream on HBO Max. Eagles fans rejoice in another win for the Birds — the "tush push" is here to stay. Fresh off their second Super Bowl win, the Philadelphia Eagles will be featured on "Hard Knocks" in the 2025 season, HBO and NFL Films announced on Wednesday. The Eagles, along with the rest of the NFC East, will be featured in the second edition of the in-season division format of "Hard Knocks, which debuted in 2024 with the AFC North. The series will begin in December and be available to stream on HBO Max. The Buffalo Bills will be featured on the training camp edition of "Hard Knocks." Last year's offseason edition of "Hard Knocks" featured the Giants, and it showed what led to Saquon Barkley leaving New York and signing with the Eagles. "We are thrilled to provide 'Hard Knocks' fans a summer with the Bills and winter with the Cowboys, Giants, Commanders and Eagles in the first year of our exciting new deal with NFL Films," Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller, co-executive vice presidents HBO Documentary and Family Programming, and Bentley Weiner, senior vice president HBO Sports Documentaries, said in a statement on the Eagles' website. "There will be no shortage of star power." The Eagles previously appeared in the Amazon Prime series "All or Nothing," which provided an in-season look at the 2019 season. Earlier Wednesday, the "tush push," the Eagles' signature play, survived a vote to potentially ban the play at the NFL spring meetings.

Jordan Hudson Wanted Partial Ownership of Hard Knocks of Bill Belichick at UNC
Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was hired by UNC to coach the football program. Not long after his hiring, NFL Films was rumored to be interested in filming Hard Knocks for the UNC football team. However, the plans were cancelled for an unknown reason until a recent report. According to a report by Katherine Rosman of The New York Times, Jordon Hudson was a major breaking point for UNC's Hard Knocks. Advertisement Rosman wrote, "But days before they were set to announce the series, Ms. Hudson demanded she be granted content approval and partial ownership of the show." Hard Knocks for UNC would've covered Belichick in his efforts to build the UNC football program leading up to the 2025 college football season. But Hudson's desire for control over parts of the production ended NFL Films' plans for Hard Knocks at UNC. In Rosman's story, she mentions that Hudson told someone that she and Belichick are engaged. Advertisement But her involvement in Belichick's life has drawn scrutiny. While Belichick has defended her at every turn, this new report sheds light on more of the drama surrounding their relationship. After NFL Films stopped their plans for production, they learned that Hudson was also undertaking different negotiations. Rosman wrote, "Ms. Hudson was also in negotiations with another production company, EverWonder, to make a similar series..." Not only did Hudson want control over the production of NFL Films' Hard Knocks, but she was also negotiating with a different production company for a similar premise. Despite HBO green-lighting the production of NFL Films' Hard Knocks at UNC, the involvement of Hudson put a stop to the announcement and production. Jordon Hudson reportedly demanded content approval, partial ownership of UNC 'Hard Knocks' before NFL Films killed project
An offseason version of "Hard Knocks" was supposed to cover Bill Belichick as he embarked on his first season as head coach of UNC. We now know why that project fell apart. Shortly before NFL Films and HBO were set to announce the docuseries, Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, demanded both content approval and partial ownership of the show, according to Katherine Rosman of The New York Times. Rather than hand control of the long-running show to the 24-year-old Hudson, who has made no shortage of headlines this offseason at Belichick's side, NFL Films reportedly opted to pull the plug. Producers reportedly learned after the fact Hudson was in negotiations with another production company, EverWonder, to make a similar series. Per its website, EverWonder has been involved in a number of sports projects, most notably the production of Netflix's Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. It had previously been reported Hudson played an instrumental role in killing the Tar Heel edition of "Hard Knocks," with one of the show's executive producers alluding to her demands to be heavily involved in the production of the series: 'The conversation took a turn we were not comfortable with.' Not even NFL head coaches or general managers are granted final cut of "Hard Knocks" seasons covering their teams, as the show is ultimately controlled by the league itself. Belichick's inclusion would have been new ground for the series, but Hudson apparently wanted control over what would have been a very loud message about how his foray into college football is going. That desire for control has turned into an unavoidable narrative over the past few months, most notably when Hudson stepped in to nix a CBS interview question about how she and Belichick met. Questions about her involvement in the UNC program have become loud enough the Tar Heels felt the need to release a statement confirming she is not a school employee, but she is welcome at their facilities. And given the Times reported Hudson has told at least one person that she and Belichick are engaged, she may be in this for the long haul. The other area the Times reported Hudson's involvement in Belichick's professional life is a number of trademark applications in his name. Literally. Because the trademarks for the coach's well-known catchphrases, such as "No Days Off" and "Do Your Job," are all held by his old New England Patriots team, Hudson has reportedly attempted to pull a Taylor Swift and applied for trademarks reading 'No Days Off (Bill's Version),' and 'Do Your Job (Bill's Version).' We'll see how that one works out.
