North African side table R5.6M bid for Kaizer Chiefs striker target!

Kaizer Chiefs have made it no secret that they're trying to sign a prolific striker ahead of next season. Chiefs' goal scoring woes have been well documented over the past three seasons and they hope to fix that. Subsequently there have been quite a few attackers linked with Chiefs going into the next season. This as a sign of what they're trying to fix in the final third. Amakhosi, however, have seen the likes of Fiston Mayele, Etiosa Ighodaro, Robert Polievka mentioned as strikers. In the wingers department Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Mihlali Mayambela and Keletso Makgalwa have been touted. It was rumoured, however, that coach Nasreddine Nabi had travelled to Egypt to try and convince Mayele to join. This after he had reportedly convinced Feisal Salum to sign for Chiefs ahead of the new season. During that trip to Tanzania the Tunisian-born mentor was seen attending game featuring Simba SC and Sinigida. Now earlier in the week this publication revealed that Chiefs held a 'secret meeting' to sign Steven Dese Mukwala of Simba. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , citing reports from the continent, Chiefs might lose him to RS Berkane. 'According to a report from Africafoot , Mukwala, who currently plays for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, is drawing growing interest from North Africa. A highly-placed source has confirmed that RS Berkane have submitted a $300,000 (approx. R5.6 million) bid for the player – a figure that may now set the benchmark for any club hoping to land the 24-year-old. Kaizer Chiefs, who are in the market for a proven goal scorer, see Mukwala as a potential solution to their ongoing issues in front of goal. But with RS Berkane's $300,000 (R5.6 million) offer on the table, Amakhosi will now need to decide whether they are willing to match – or better – the bid to secure the services of the prolific Ugandan. As things stand, Mukwala remains under contract at Simba, and any move will likely require swift negotiations and a competitive financial package. Chiefs' pursuit is far from over – but the race has undeniably become a lot more competitive.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, should the club fight Berkane to get Mukwala's signature? This after he had reportedly convinced Feisal Salum to sign for Chiefs ahead of the new season. During that trip to Tanzania the Tunisian-born mentor was seen attending game featuring Simba SC and Sinigida. Now according to Micky Jnr, following that game, he attended a secret meeting to sign a striker. That being Steven Dese Mukwala of Simba. '𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐃! When you saw Nabi at the KMC Complex, the player he was watching in Simba v Singida's game was Steven Dese Mukwala. Kaizer Chiefs' head of scouting and recruitment Thembela Maliwa and Nabi's assistant Cedric Kaze had a '𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠' with Steven Mukwala's agent when they were in Tanzania for a possible move. The meeting took place in a hotel in Dar es Salaam. Chiefs have strong interest in the Ugandan striker and ready to make an offer to sign him. However, Simba's President Mo Dewji has asked the club not to engage in any transfer negotiations for Mukwala until the end of the season in Tanzania. 12 goals. 3 assists. 1049 minutes played. Stats for Mukwala so far. One player to keep eyes on in the transfer market when the season ends in Tanzania.' Kaizer Chiefs in secret talks to sign goal machine Steven Mukwala

Kaizer Chiefs have set their sights on prolific Ugandan striker Steven Dese Mukwala, with a source confirming the club's growing intent to secure his signature ahead of the next transfer window. When head coach Nasreddine Nabi was spotted at the KMC Complex in Tanzania during the Simba vs Singida clash, he wasn't just there for show, he was watching Mukwala in action. The 25-year-old striker has been a standout performer this season, and his presence on the pitch clearly caught Nabi's attention. Behind the scenes, things moved swiftly. Chiefs' head of scouting and recruitment, Thembela Maliwa, alongside Nabi's assistant Cedric Kaze, held a secret meeting with Mukwala's agent at a private hotel in Dar es Salaam. The agenda? A potential move to Naturena. 'Chiefs have a strong interest in the Ugandan striker and are ready to make an offer to sign him,' a source confirmed. However, any immediate deal could face a delay. Simba SC President Mo Dewji has reportedly instructed the club not to entertain transfer negotiations for Mukwala, until the conclusion of the current Tanzanian season, which is the 22 of June 2025. But Kaizer Chiefs aren't the only ones circling. Newly crowned CAF Confederation Cup winners RS Berkane have also made formal enquiries following the final in Zanzibar. The Moroccan outfit are said to be preparing a R5.3 million bid to lure the striker north. Mukwala's statistics this season highlight exactly why he's attracting so much interest. He has bagged 12 goals and delivered three assists, making him one of the most efficient forwards on the continent. To add to that, the ex-Asante Kotoko forward remains under contract until June 2027. With two major clubs now vying for his services and more potentially to come, Mukwala has become one of the most in-demand strikers in African football. Once the Tanzanian season ends, expect a transfer showdown. Will Steven Dese Mukwala fit in at Kaizer Chiefs or RS Berkane? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Simba seal semi-final berth after penalty triumph over Al Masry

Published: Wednesday, 09 April 2025 Tanzanian giants Simba SC overcame a two-goal first-leg deficit to knock Egypt's Al Masry out of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup in dramatic fashion, winning 4-1 on penalties after a 2-0 win in regulation time in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. Goals in the first half from Elie Mpanzu and Steven Mukwala gave Simba the cushion they needed to level the tie on aggregate, following their defeat by the same scoreline in the first leg in Suez. The shootout saw the home side dispatch four well-taken penalties, while Al Masry missed two of their three attempts. Simba storm back to level the tie Backed by a vocal crowd at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Simba wasted no time asserting dominance. Mpanzu opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing off a solo run with a precise shot past Mahmoud Gad in the Al Masry goal. Just ten minutes later, Mukwala doubled the lead with a powerful header that left the goalkeeper stranded. The first half was marred by stoppages, including an injury to Al Masry's Beninese defender Samadou, who was later substituted. Despite their efforts to respond, the Egyptians struggled to gain a foothold in the match. VAR drama and missed chances Al Masry looked brighter in the second half after introducing Mido Gaber and Mohamed Hashem. A controversial moment arose when Simba were awarded a penalty, only for the decision to be overturned after a VAR check. Mahmoud Gad redeemed himself with several crucial saves, denying Simba from extending their lead in open play. However, he couldn't repeat those heroics during the penalty shootout. Penalty heartbreak for the Egyptians In the shootout, Simba were flawless. Jean Ahoua, Mukwala, Kibu Dennis, and Shomari Kapombe all converted their penalties with clinical precision. Al Masry, on the other hand, faltered under pressure. Fakhreddine Ben Youssef was the only scorer, while both Mido Gaber and Mahmoud Hamada failed to convert, sealing their side's elimination. The result ends Al Masry's hopes of returning to the Confederation Cup semi-finals, a stage they last reached in 2018. For Simba, it marks a major milestone as they head into the semi-finals, awaiting the winner between Zamalek and Stellenbosch.
