'A Real American Disgrace!': Stephen Colbert Nails Trump's Most 'Half-Assed' Effort Yet

'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump didn't exactly bring his A-game with his attempt at taunting Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell this week. The president has been trying to pressure Powell into lowering interest rates, to no avail. Trump fired off a tweet calling him ''Too Late' Jerome Powell,' and adding, 'TOO LATE's an American Disgrace!' Colbert wasn't impressed. 'You want a real American disgrace?' he asked. 'That half-assed nickname! 'Too Late?' 'Too Late?' You can't do better than 'Too Late?'' Colbert offered the president some more effective options. 'What about 'Loose Bowel Jerome Powell?'' he asked. 'What about, 'Jerome, Jerome, the business gnome, won't lower mortgage rates on your home?' Come on!' He noted that 'Too Late' was a far cry from the types of mean-spirited nicknames Trump used to cook up. 'This country used to have standards,' Colbert lamented, then listed off some of the president's previous work: 'Meatball Ron! Sloppy Steve! Little Marco!' See more in his Thursday night monologue:

Stephen Colbert Uncovers The 1 Uncomfortable Word Trump's Too 'Embarrassed' To Say

'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert said on Wednesday the entire world is waiting for President Donald Trump to reveal what the United States will do about the growing military conflict between Israel and Iran. 'Well, last night, Commander-in-Chief Donald John Trump, after consulting with his advisers, poised on the precipice of history, made a powerful and momentous declaration,' Colbert said. Trump announced he was installing a pair of 'tall' and 'tapered' flagpoles on the grounds of the White House, calling them 'the most magnificent poles made.' 'It sounds pretty cool,' Colbert said. 'But fair warning: If you Google 'tall tapered magnificent pole' on your office computer, you will get a call from HR.' Trump supervised the raising of the poles on Wednesday but was afraid to use a certain word to describe it. 'They call it a lifting,' Trump said. 'They also use another word, but I'm not going to use that word. You know what that is? The word, it starts with an 'E.' You know what the word is?' Colbert took a guess at what that word might be. 'It's a word that starts with an 'E' that he's embarrassed to say publicly,' Colbert said, then concluded: 'Eric!' See more in his Wednesday night monologue:

'This Blows': Stephen Colbert Mocks Trump's Failed Attempt To 'Save Face'

'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump's trip to Canada this week for the G7 summit 'did not go smoothly' as he unveiled a trade deal with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Trump tried to show off the document, but ended up dropping many of the pages. Colbert broke out his Trump impression. 'Five-second rule, I can still eat it!' he cracked. Colbert said 'Trump tried to save face' by blaming the wind, but 'Late Show' host was skeptical of that explanation given the lack of any evident wind. 'Sure, wind always makes things fall straight down,' he said. 'We all remember when an apple fell on Sir Isaac Newton's head and he declared, 'This blows.'' See more in his Tuesday night monologue:

'Look At His Dumb Face!': Stephen Colbert Trolls Trump Over Truly Awkward Moment

'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert on Monday slammed President Donald Trump for sending the National Guard to Los Angeles to deal with protesters. 'What's going on in LA reminds us that, as citizens, it is crucial to speak out against Trump's fascist impulses, his rampant corruption, and his egregious violations of our norms and our laws,' Colbert said, then switched gears: 'But sometimes, it's just as important to say: 'Haha, old man fall down.'' Colbert rolled footage of the president stumbling as he walked up the stairs to Air Force One on Sunday. 'Strongman go boom!' Colbert said, then broke out some fascist puns: Benito Whoopsolini, Adolf Tripsler, Joseph Fallin', and Kim Jong Oops. 'With Trump's shock troops deployed against our fellow Americans, we can't focus on trivial things like that,' he said. 'But look at his dumb face!' Colbert zoomed in on Trump's face as he fell and tried to read the signs hidden in the president's skin. Check it out in the Monday night monologue:
