Leny Yoro names shock ex-Arsenal star as 'toughest striker' he's ever faced
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has picked out ex-Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette as the toughest striker he has ever come up against on a football pitch. Though still in the infancy of his career, Yoro has already locked horns with some of the finest attacking talent in world football, including Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Kylian Mbappe. And given the French centre-back is not even out of his teens, there are sure to be many, many more daunting challenges ahead of him over the coming years. Yoro could be forgiven for wanting United to bring in a high-class centre-forward of their own this summer, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee badly struggling to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. Prior to his £52million transfer move from Lille to United, the 19-year-old only had one full season under his belt in senior football with his boyhood team. But the second leg of United's Europa League quarter-final with Lyon in April marked the fifth time that Yoro had gone toe to toe with Lacazette – and it's clear he rates his fellow countryman extremely highly. Lacazette has racked up four goals in his those five meetings with Yoro, leaving a strong impression on the youngster. 'The toughest striker [I've faced]? I would say Lacazette, even in Ligue 1. He was very good,' Yoro told Rising Ballers. 'He's got a lot of experience because he played Premier League and Ligue 1. 'And his positioning in games, sometimes it's difficult for defenders, always in your back.' 'Honestly, I was not ready to score!' Yoro joked when looking back on the 2-2 draw at Lyon's Groupama Stadium. 'But I didn't want to celebrate because I wanted to play quick to try to win the game. 'I was really happy because my family was there and after the game, they said they were really happy for me and proud so it was good.' Going forward, Yoro is keen to add another string to his bow by bringing more 'aggression' to his game. Asked which area he most needs to improve, Yoro replied: 'Maybe I would say, sometimes, my aggression, being more aggressive. 'With the ball, I need to improve, of course, but I think I'm good so maybe, sometimes, I need to be more aggressive.' Yoro sees his long-term future at United and is desperate to start adding major trophies to his collection sooner rather than later. Quizzed on where he sees himself in five years' time, he responded: 'I hope I will stay here, for sure, in Manchester. '[Hopefully] I can say that I've won some titles and something has changed, maybe I have a child.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Ex-Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette burgled as thieves steal cash and jewellery
Alexandre Lacazette was saying farewell to his boyhood club Lyon and had a send-off to remember with two goals against Angers, but the game was bittersweet as his home was been raided by robbers while he was playing Former Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette was the victim of a burglary while playing his final game for Lyon this weekend, according to reports in France. The 33-year-old had a farewell to remember as he netted a brace in a 2-0 win over Angers, first from the penalty spot before tapping home a second. It was the perfect way for Lacazette to say goodbye as he was lauded by fans, but his special night was quickly marred as he later discovered his home had been raided by robbers while he was on the pitch. French outlet Le Progres claims Lacazette's house was broken into around half an hour after Lyon's game kicked off at 9pm local time, with two robbers involved. The house was empty at the time and the men managed to get inside through a service shaft. The thieves are said to have accessed a safe inside his property in Lyon's fifth district and taken jewellery and cash - with the total value of good stolen said to be worth tens of thousands of pounds. The two men were captured on CCTV footage after the break-in was reported at around 1.30am in the morning, with police now launching an investigation. Footballers in Lyon have often been victims of burglary after stars Karl Toko-Ekambi, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Dejan Lovren had their homes raided in 2022. The following year, left-back Nicolas Tagliafico saw his garden broken into by thieves before entering his home. Lacazette's own experience comes during what should be a happy time as he reflects on making 391 appearances for Lyon, scoring 201 times across two spells. He started his career with the club as a teenager before joining Arsenal in 2017, where he scored 71 goals in 206 games before returning to Lyon in 2022. At his last game, fans honoured him with a huge tifo of the player at the Angers game before his team-mates gave him a guard of honour - clapping as he walked under an arch that read "Merci Alex". Lacazette will leave as a free agent and has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League after reportedly rejecting their advances last summer.

Former Arsenal star's house burgled while he was playing in his final game before retirement
Former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette 's house was allegedly burgled while he was playing during his final game before retiring. The player in question was appearing in his 391st and final game for his current club before he hangs up his boots at the end of the current season. However, his final appearance was said to have been overshadowed by the purported incident, which was claimed to have occurred on Saturday night. French publication Le Progres reported that his home was broken into by two burglars, who were said to have accessed a safe. The Items alleged to have been stolen include jewellery, luxury leather goods and cash, in a robbery claimed to be valued at tens of thousands of pounds. The burglary was reported at 1.30am on Sunday morning, after two individuals were seen in security footage, leading to local police launching an investigation. Alexandre Lacazette, who spent five years with the Gunners, was appearing for Lyon in their match against Angers in Ligue 1. It comes after Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca confirmed earlier this week that Lacazette would be departing the club Lyon when his contract runs out this summer. The Lyon club legend was honoured by fans with an enormous tifo ahead of last night's game. Lacazette ensured it was a swansong to savour on a personal note as he netted both goals in his side's 2-0 win over Angers. The goals took Lacazette past 200 goals for Lyon, having come through the club's academy as a youngster. The alleged burglary is not the first to happen to Lyon players in recent years, with Georges Mikautadze being robbed at gunpoint last December. Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren was the victim of an attempted robbery in October 2023.

Lacazette's farewell to Lyon marred by burglary
LYON: Alexandre Lacazette's joy at scoring a double in his final Ligue 1 match for Lyon evaporated when the club captain learned his house had been burgled during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Angers. The former France international striker – whose double took his total for the club to 201 in two spells and secured European football for them next term – had €50,000 (RM240,000) and luxury goods stolen from his home in Lyon, a police source told AFP. The burglar alarm went off at 2130 local time (1930GMT) and three individuals were caught on camera gaining access to the premises via ventilation ducts. However, it took another four hours for the facts to be discovered according to local newspaper Le Progres. The police source told AFP that leather goods and a car key had been stolen, though, the vehicle had not been taken. Lacazette, who turns 34 on May 28, scored his 201 goals in 391 matches – either side of a five year stay with Arsenal – and is second on the list of all-time scorers for Lyon behind Fleury Di Nallo, who garnered 222 in 494 games from 1960 to 1974. - AFP
