‘Veg Chilli Chicken' from Chandigarh sparks online buzz, revives veg vs non-veg debate
A viral video featuring a food stall in Chandigarh selling a dish called 'Veg Chilli Chicken' has left the internet bewildered and amused, sparking a fresh wave of comments and jokes across social media platforms. The dish, seen as blurring the lines between vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, has once again ignited the longstanding debate in India over dietary preferences. The video, shared on Instagram by food vlogger Jonas, shows him at a local food stall in Chandigarh pointing at a signboard advertising the unusual offering. 'We are in Chandigarh and they've cracked this whole veg-non veg debate. Nowhere in India are they as innovative as here,' Jonas says in the clip, adding, 'Here, they have veg chilli chicken. Nowhere in India will you see this innovation, only in Chandigarh.' The post quickly gained traction online, with users flooding the comments section with witty takes and confused reactions. One user wrote, 'Chicken identify as a vegetarian,' while another quipped, 'The chicken was vegetarian, you misunderstood it.' Others speculated that the dish might be plant-based, with one person adding, 'It is really veg, I have eaten it, it's made up of soya.'Another viewer commented, 'Welcome to Chandigarh mate,' and someone else recalled a similar experience, saying, 'I saw a place in Mumbai selling Veg Hamburger.' The trend reflects a broader movement towards plant-based alternatives that mimic the taste and texture of meat without using animal products. Vegan or mock meat is increasingly popular among consumers who want the flavour of meat without compromising their dietary or ethical choices. These meat alternatives often use soy, pea protein, wheat gluten, jackfruit, or mushrooms to recreate the texture of traditional meat. Ingredients like lentils, chickpeas, beetroot, and coconut oil are added to boost protein content, mimic meat's color and juiciness, and enhance flavour. In a country where food is closely tied to identity and cultural expression, innovations like 'Veg Chilli Chicken' continue to stir both humour and debate—bridging the gap between culinary creativity and traditional boundaries.

Viral Video Shows Chandigarh Food Stall Selling Veg Chilli Chicken, Confuses Internet
In India, food isn't just about flavour, it is also about identity. And one debate that refuses to cool down is the age-old clash between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. From dinner tables to social media threads, people across the country love to argue over what's healthier, tastier, or more authentically "Indian." Our culinary landscape has long been a melting pot of such heated conversations. The veg vs non-veg divide has sparked fresh discussions, with passionate voices on both sides. Now, cutting through the seriousness of the debate, a food vlogger's hilarious take on the issue has gone viral online. Shared on Instagram, the clip features vlogger Jonas at a food stall in Chandigarh that's serving up something called 'Veg Chilli Chicken'-- a dish that has left the internet scratching its head. In the video, Jonas says, "We are in Chandigarh and they've cracked this whole veg-non veg debate. Nowhere in India are they as innovative as here." Pointing to the stall's signboard, he adds, "Here, they have veg chilli chicken. Nowhere in India will you see this innovation, only in Chandigarh." Another joked, "The chicken was vegetarian, you misunderstood it." "Welcome to Chandigarh mate," a comment read. A user commented, "I saw a place in Mumbai selling Veg Hamburger." Another clarified, "It is really veg I have eaten it is made up of soya." Nowadays, vegan meat is becoming a popular alternative for people who want the taste of meat without actually eating animals. Made entirely from plants, this mock meat is crafted to look, feel, and taste like the real thing. It usually contains ingredients like soy or pea protein for that meaty texture, wheat gluten for chewiness, and sometimes even jackfruit or mushrooms for a fibrous, savoury bite. Legumes like lentils and chickpeas are added for protein, while veggies like beetroot give it a nice colour and juiciness. Oils like coconut or sunflower help with that fatty, juicy feel we associate with meat. To top it all off, a mix of spices and flavourings gives vegan meat its bold, meaty flavour, making it a solid choice for burgers, nuggets, kebabs, or even mince.

‘No excuse to behave like this': Swedish tourist claims Uber driver left him stranded on Delhi highway in blazing heat, company apologises
Jonas, a Swedish tourist and travel vlogger, had set out to explore Delhi. However, he had an unsettling experience with his Uber Intercity ride. Sharing details of the incident, Jonas alleged that the Uber driver staged a fake breakdown and demanded cash for supposed 'repairs'. When Jonas refused to pay, the driver left him stranded on a highway under the scorching Delhi sun. Recounting the experience, Jonas also shared that the ride seemed normal until the driver abruptly stopped the car on a busy road, claiming it had broken down. In the caption of the Instagram reel he posted, capturing the cab, Jonas explained that he immediately reached out to Uber for help. While the company did respond, their solution only added to his frustration. 'They sorted me out with not one, not two, but three replacement rides, all cancelled on me. I assume as I was on the highway,' he wrote. Though he eventually made it back safely, Jonas said it was without any assistance from Uber. 'Got home all well no thanks to Uber, with another story to tell,' he said in the video. Watch here: A post shared by Jonas | Swedish Tourist (@iamjonasax) Following the post going viral, Uber India issued a public apology, informing that it had taken action. 'Hi Jonas, we apologise for this frustrating experience. Our specialised team has investigated and taken appropriate action.' Several social media users reacted to the video, sharing similar incidents. 'So sorry, Sir. We Indians are also facing this situation with these online taxi apps,' a user wrote. 'Sincere apologies on the drivers behalf.. there is no excuse to behave like this,' another user commented. 'Uber really need to get some cars and drivers on their payroll instead of relying on freelancers. These freelancers often demand extra money and don't accept rides,' a third user reacted.
