Viral Video Shows Chandigarh Food Stall Selling Veg Chilli Chicken, Confuses Internet

NDTV5 hours ago

In India, food isn't just about flavour, it is also about identity. And one debate that refuses to cool down is the age-old clash between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. From dinner tables to social media threads, people across the country love to argue over what's healthier, tastier, or more authentically "Indian." Our culinary landscape has long been a melting pot of such heated conversations. The veg vs non-veg divide has sparked fresh discussions, with passionate voices on both sides. Now, cutting through the seriousness of the debate, a food vlogger's hilarious take on the issue has gone viral online. Shared on Instagram, the clip features vlogger Jonas at a food stall in Chandigarh that's serving up something called 'Veg Chilli Chicken'-- a dish that has left the internet scratching its head.
In the video, Jonas says, "We are in Chandigarh and they've cracked this whole veg-non veg debate. Nowhere in India are they as innovative as here." Pointing to the stall's signboard, he adds, "Here, they have veg chilli chicken. Nowhere in India will you see this innovation, only in Chandigarh."

The clip soon went viral.
A user commented, "Chicken identify as a vegetarian."
Another joked, "The chicken was vegetarian, you misunderstood it."
"Welcome to Chandigarh mate," a comment read.
A user commented, "I saw a place in Mumbai selling Veg Hamburger."
Another clarified, "It is really veg I have eaten it is made up of soya."
Nowadays, vegan meat is becoming a popular alternative for people who want the taste of meat without actually eating animals. Made entirely from plants, this mock meat is crafted to look, feel, and taste like the real thing. It usually contains ingredients like soy or pea protein for that meaty texture, wheat gluten for chewiness, and sometimes even jackfruit or mushrooms for a fibrous, savoury bite. Legumes like lentils and chickpeas are added for protein, while veggies like beetroot give it a nice colour and juiciness. Oils like coconut or sunflower help with that fatty, juicy feel we associate with meat. To top it all off, a mix of spices and flavourings gives vegan meat its bold, meaty flavour, making it a solid choice for burgers, nuggets, kebabs, or even mince.

Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Calls Designing For Sitaare Zameen Par ‘Emotionally Rewarding'

An 'emotionally rewarding' moment for the designer duo, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, walk us through the process of creating ensembles for Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh and the 10 rising stars of Sitaare Zameen Par for the film's premiere in Mumbai. How did this collaboration with the team of Sitaare Zameen Par come about? The Sitaare Zameen Par team approached us to ask if we would be interested in collaborating with them and designing the looks for the cast at the movie's premiere. We told them we would be delighted – and that marked the beginning of a wonderful creative collaboration. What drew you to design for Aamir Khan, Genelia D'Souza, and the 10 stars for the premiere of Sitaare Zameen Par? It was an absolutely instinctive decision – a no-brainer for us. We are massive believers in [Aamir] Khan's cinema. He is a fabulous actor and filmmaker, and it's an honour to work with him. Genelia is a delightful human, and perhaps the most joyous part of the project was dressing the ten young cast members – gifted, bright, and brilliant neurodiverse young men and women, full of endless enthusiasm and charm. Walk us through the process of curating designs for the cast, traditional crafts and techniques that were woven into the creations. We wanted to dress the cast in outfits that exude elegance while incorporating traditional Indian silhouettes and heritage craft techniques. The young cast members are dressed in black bandhgalas and short sherwanis, embroidered and embellished with stars. These are lined with heritage textiles like bandhani and Ajrak. The overall look is decidedly contemporary and also infused with heritage classicism. The sole young lady wears a starry skirt and blouse that fulfils her dream of being dressed like a princess. Some of the young men wanted to style their hair with blue and pink metallic highlights, adding a punch of fun zaniness to their looks. Genelia and Aamir are both dressed in our hallmark chikankari – our ultimate couture expression, featuring the finest hand embroidery and is the epitome of grace and refinement. In a video, you introduced Aamir Khan as the Best Actor, but Worst Dressed. What in Aamir's style would you love to change? It was a comment made in good humour and jest. We were teasing Aamir on his excessively casual approach to clothing. We would love to see him be a bit more adventurous – maybe even a little fabulous – in his fashion choices. Ditch the jeans and T-shirts once in a while and try formal kurtas, sherwanis and bandhgalas! But on a serious note, we love him just as he is. What an actor and brilliant human being. Advertisement Genelia had expressed in a video that you have never dressed her, how was it designing an outfit for her? Yes, it's quite surprising that we haven't had the pleasure of dressing Genelia before. She is absolutely lovely, and after this premiere, we look forward to dressing her again in the future. What was the most emotionally rewarding part of working with the Sitaare Zameen Par cast? The entire experience was pure joy. Meeting Aamir after many years and spending time together was truly delightful. We adore him as an artist – his creativity and craft are unparalleled. He is one of our finest. We deeply appreciate his attention to offbeat subjects; it's so refreshing to see films that aren't run-of-the-mill, but instead, are full of heart and soul.
