F1 Rookie, 20, Raises Concerns as Alleged Attitude Problem Comes to Light at NYC ‘F1' Movie Premiere: ‘Not Stoked'

F1 Rookie, 20, Raises Concerns as Alleged Attitude Problem Comes to Light at NYC 'F1' Movie Premiere: 'Not Stoked' originally appeared on Parade. As F1 gears up to hit theaters on June 27, the 2025 Formula One grid is stepping out in style, ready to show their support at the F1 movie premiere in New York City tonight (June 16). Well, maybe not the entire grid, as one F1 driver is facing controversy after seeming rather uninterested in the oh-so special evening: Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team rookie Isack Hadjar. For those who are unfamiliar, F1 — directed by Joseph Kosinski, written by Ehren Kruger and starring Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Javier Bardem and more — is a film centered around the life of Sonny Hayes (Pitt), a fictional F1 driver from 1990s who retired after a terrible accident, revisiting the racing world to join rookie Joshua 'Noah' Pearce (Idris) on the on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP). While the movie itself looks nothing short of sensational, fans are equally as excited for cameos from their favorite F1 drivers, who will make brief appearances throughout F1: Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Nyck de Vries, Daniel Ricciardo, Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon. Although he will not be featured in the film, Hadjar put on his finest fit to attend the F1 movie premiere, rocking an oversized brown suit that looked cool-as-can-be. He paired the blazer with a white Hugo shirt underneath, and to accessorize the outfit, the 20-year-old opted for a bold black watch, as well as some black-and-white sneakers. While Hadjar certainly posed for some sexy solo shots, he also caught up with his Visa Cash App Racing Bulls buddies, snapping some photos with his teammate, Liam Lawson, as well as team principal Laurent Mekies and CEO Peter Bayer. How sweet is that? Although Isack was all smiles in a majority of the photos from the F1 movie premiere, as mentioned previously, Formula One fans jumped to conclusions after the official Formula One Instagram account shared an image of the French driver looking rather grim. "Why Hadjar looks sad bro 😭" one fan wrote in the comment section of the post, while others added "Hadjar did not wanna be there 💀" and "Isack was clearly not stoked to watch this movie again 💀" "Someone check up on Hadjar and Lawson," a fourth fan wrote, looping his teammate into the allegationa as well. Based on the rest of the photos and videos from the evening, we're going to go out on a limb and say that the official Formula One Instagram account caught Hadjar in a bad moment, but could there be more to the story? Needless to say, we will be obsessively refreshing social media for the rest of the evening for any further updates. Hadjar aside, be sure to mark your calendars — F1 will hit theaters on June 27, and it is truly a must-see for Formula One fans everywhere. Liam Lawson: 'It's been a tough, tough weekend'

Lawson failed to finish Monday's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. After qualifying at the back of the field, the young Kiwi was forced out with 14 laps remaining with technical issues with his Racing Bulls car. "It's just been a tough, tough weekend which is a shame," Lawson said afterwards. He was forced to start his first Canadian GP from pit lane after his team made changes to his power unit post qualifying. The 23-year-old was put on a one pit-stop strategy but was unable to make inroads on the field. He was eventually told to retire the car as it was suffering from cooling problems. It is the third race he's failed to finish this season. "It's disappointing, obviously it was going to be a very difficult race anyway from the pit lane. "We had a cooling issue at the end so unfortunately we had to retire." Photo: GEOFF ROBINS His Racing Bulls team-mate Isack Hadjar also struggled with pace and finished 16th, with just Lance Stroll behind him. "The hard fact is that we didn't have enough pace today to fight in the top 10," Team Principal Laurent Mekies said. "It's a tight battle in the midfield and even only one-tenth can make the difference, and today it was enough to drop back instead of attacking forward." By not picking up any points Racing Bulls slip further behind Williams in the Constructors' Championship and now sit in seventh place on the same points as Haas. With Fernando Alonso finishing seventh for Aston Martin they are now just six points behind Racing Bulls. Lawson is 18th in the Drivers' Championship with the four points he picked up with his eighth-place finish at Monaco. "We'll keep working on the speed and I'll keep working on myself to reset ahead of Austria," Lawson said. Round eleven is in Austria at the end of the month. "Looking back at the last few months, every single improvement we've made as a team has been made after tough weekends like this one in Canada. We certainly take some positives from this weekend and the fight is on, so we'll keep pushing all together," Mekies said.

Update: Date: 18:06 BST Title: Hadjar hit with three-place grid penalty Content: Carlos Sainz was furious with his Q1 exit on Saturday and instantly flagged to his Williams team he had been the victim of "massive impeding" during the scrap to make it through to Q2. The offending car was Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar, who was given misinformation by his pit wall that Spaniard Sainz had already aborted his lap when the two cars came across each other in the first sector. After qualifying, the stewards found Hadjar guilty of impeding so the Frenchman will now drop down the order from P9 to P12, promoting Alex Albon, Franco Colapinto and Nico Hulkenberg. Nico Rosberg implores nobody to accept Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen

Nico Rosberg believes Isack Hadjar – or any driver – should not accept the second F1 seat at Red Bull due to Max Verstappen 's dominance at the team. Verstappen has had six teammates during his 10 seasons at Red Bull, with the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon all falling short of the Dutchman. Sergio Perez was axed at the end of last season after three years, while Liam Lawson was dropped after just the first two races of this season. Yuki Tsunoda is his current teammate, but the Japanese driver is struggling for performance and consistency. Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar, who has shone in his first nine races in F1, has been linked with a rapid promotion to Red Bull – but Rosberg has implored the young Frenchman to reject any future approach. 'You just say no, you do not go next to Max Verstappen,' Rosberg told Sky Sports F1, in Saturday's coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix. 'Look at Albon, how he's performing against Sainz [at Williams], race-winner class, beating him this year. He was also six-tenths off Max every time. 'It doesn't matter, you just say no.' Indeed, Hadjar admitted on Thursday that he was 'not ready' for the senior Red Bull outfit. 'I'm just nine races in, and it looks to be complicated when I look at Yuki and Liam, who are very quality drivers,' he said. 'So no, I'm not very ready.' Verstappen qualified second on the grid for Sunday's Canadian GP, with Hadjar starting in 12th after receiving a three-place grid drop due to impeding Carlos Sainz in qualifying. Yet Tsunoda will start from the back of the grid after being handed a 10-place grid penalty as a result of a red flag infringement.

Carlos Sainz fumes at Isack Hadjar for 'destroying' F1 Canadian GP qualifying

Carlos Sainz was left fuming after he claimed Isack Hadjar impeded him during qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, which meant Williams driver was eliminated in Q1. Having looked strong over practice, Sainz felt his race weekend was left in tatters by Hadjar and hit out at the Racing Bulls driver over team radio. The Frenchman defended his driving and claimed that he thought Sainz had aborted his lap. Advertisement Sainz missed out on Q2 by less than a tenth of a second and was still upset when speaking to the media following his elimination. 'Well, I don't care if I was fast. If in Q1 you arrive and there's a guy in the middle of the road that completely blows your qualifying away and that means that your weekend is destroyed,' he said. 'I'm in P17 when I should be fighting for Q3 and top eight today, so I'm extremely disappointed. Carlos Sainz, Williams Carlos Sainz, Williams 'I saw him already in turn three to four, I was surprised he didn't get out of the way in three to four. I already lost a tenth or two with a dirty air, but I was like, 'okay, he's just playing the game of giving me dirty air.' Advertisement 'That's not impeding, but he's giving me dirty air of a tenth just to try, maybe he was on the cut and trying to give me dirty air on purpose. 'And then I realised going into Turn 5, he's not getting out of the way, I have to lift and I have to overtake him in the inside of six. Like if it's a race, obviously with a bad angle into six and seven. "I lost another two or three tenths there, so three or four tenths just in that lap, which is anyway a lap that is 20 milliseconds from Q2. That was the margin we had today. 'So, it's honestly very frustrating, but it's what it is.' Basically, I had to do a wet line in a corner. 'Honestly, I don't care right now, we've been quick all weekend, we were quick in race pace, but we're still not where we want to be.' Hadjar, meanwhile, impressed once again as he eventually progressed through to Q3 qualifying in ninth. But, he was still left a little downbeat as the Frenchman took responsibility on behalf of his team for the incident. Advertisement 'I never impede anyone, not even in practice,' said Hadjar, 'I got told Carlos had aborted his lap, and in fact he was still pushing. So, complete miscommunication from what I got told. It's a shame, it ruins his qualifying and probably a bit mine.'
