According to the Daily Record, Derek McInnes is considering a shock move for former Hibs and Aberdeen star Kevin Nisbet. The Scotland striker has returned to Millwall after his Dons loan spell came to a close. It's claimed that McInnes has been a fan of Nisbet's for some time and wouldn't say no to trying to lure him back to Edinburgh. McInnes said today that he's in constant discussion with Shankland and his agent over a new deal. But the new Hearts boss insists time is running out and that he wants a resolution soon. He told Sky Sports: "I'm in constant dialogue with Lawrence, spoke to his agents as well several times through the last few weeks but Lawrence has obviously got a lot to consider. "We think we're a really strong option for him, whether we're the best option in Lawrence's eyes we've got to wait and see but there'll come a point really that we need to draw a line under it and Lawrence has got to look at looking after him and I've got to look after Hearts. "Hopefully we can find a solution because he is a player that I think can really thrive with us at Hearts. "He's shown in the time here how important he is and you try and not let players like that leave the door without putting up the best fight you can and we're in the fight for him. 'There are loads of reasons why Lawrence could see this as a good option for him. "Hopefully as I say we're his best option and at the minute we're in the fight to keep him. "I always feel deadlines are not always healthy and sometimes can be a bit antagonistic but there's been enough conversations with Lawrence. "There'll come a point where he has to move on and try and secure his future and likewise I need to make sure that we secure our squad going forward but we're not at that stage yet. Nectar Triantis in Australia withdrawal amid uncertainty
However, he has pulled out on the eve of that first game. With Greece, who he is also eligible for, reportedly interested in his services that created a potential talking point. But Australia manager Tony Popovic says the withdrawal is down to his current situation at club level. Triantis is still under contract at Sunderland but unlikely to get a first-team chance following their promotion to the Premier League. Hibs would love to have him back and have approached the Mackems about a permanent deal. There is further interest in his services from elsewhere though and so the 22-year-old has a big decision to make. Popovich hinted that is the reason behind his international no-show. But we had him in the squad for the camp, and on the day that he was supposed to travel, he informed us that he's not coming in. 'He just said he's got a lot of things on at the moment, a lot on his mind in terms of what he wants to do. We have to respect that, and we'll see what happens.' Martin Boyle and Lewis Miller will be part of the squad but fellow Hibee Jack Iredale misses out. The defender looked set to fulfil a dream when he was called up to a training camp but he has been left out of the squad for the competitive matches.

Eliezer Mayenda spent the second half of the 23/24 campaign on loan at Hibs but exited quietly after just four outings with no goals or assists. He arrived alongside Nectar Triantis from the Black Cats and while the defender turned all action midfielder had a second coming at Hibs to great affect, Mayenda stayed to fight for his place at Sunderland. When I saw the name Sunderland, I said to my dad that I didn't want to go to the French First Division, I want to go to Sunderland. It was just my feeling, I can't tell you why exactly, it was just a natural connection. Sunderland was special. I knew it was historic in England, it had been in the Premier League and everyone has seen the documentary on Netflix.' More often, a player is in the squad but not really a starter. 'Then there is an injury and a player will seize this opportunity, because he is connected. He will say: 'I'm here and I will show you'. The best players in the world are like that and Eli showed this quality. Even he didn't expect this season. Now it's a question of consistency.'

Former Hibs and Raith Rovers defender Shaun Dennis has died at the age of 55
Former Hibernian and Raith Rovers defender Shaun Dennis has died at the age of 55. Raith Rovers announced his death 'with great sadness' and said he 'had passed away peacefully' on Friday morning. Signed by Jim Duffy from Raith Rovers in an effort to strengthen the Hibs defence he made his debut against Motherwell in January 1997. He retained his place under Alex McLeish and helped the club win the First Division. Dennis was also at the heart of the defence in the famous Millennium derby victory at Tynecastle. After 74-games and four goals he returned to Raith Rovers initially on loan. He subsequently was inducted into the club's Hall of Fame. In total he played more than 400 games for the Kirkcaldy club and was capped once by Scotland Under-21s in 1991. He twice helped Raith secure promotion to the top flight, and contributed to a promotion to the second tier . He was also part of Jimmy Nicholl's 1994 Scottish League Cup-winning side that beat Celtic on penalties in the final at Ibrox. In a statement, Hibernian FC wrote:'Hibernian FC are saddened to learn of the passing of former Hibee Shaun Dennis. 'Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time. 'Rest in peace Shaun.' Raith Rovers FC said: 'Everyone at Raith Rovers Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Rover Shaun Dennis. Legendary Shaun Dennis has sadly passed away at the age of 55 and the club made sure to share a tribute online. Issuing a statement, Hibernian FC wrote: "Hibernian FC are saddened to learn of the passing of former Hibee Shaun Dennis. "Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time. "Rest in peace Shaun." The player left Raith Rovers in 1997 to join Hibs - where he spent four years and made over 65 appearances. Raith Rovers FC said: "Everyone at Raith Rovers Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Rover Shaun Dennis. "Shaun played 453 games for us and has won more winners' medals than any player in Rovers' history. "Our thoughts are with Shaun's loved ones at this sad time." Many Hibs fans were quick to share their condolences following the sad news. One said: "RIP Shaun. You were an awesome player, condolences to family and friends."
