Guelph Police Service looking for suspect in gunpoint bank robbery

Police were called to a bank near Gordon Street and Clair Road on June 7 around 8:40 a.m. They were told a man with a handgun walked into the bank and stole cash. A gun was left behind when the suspect fled. No one was injured. The suspect is described as a 6'0' Black man in his mid to late 20s with dark skin. He was wearing a white or grey sweater, black pants, a pink silk mask and a black hat. Anyone with more information or video of the incident is asked to contact police.

More than 100 offences identified during Erin safety blitz
A tow truck was stopped during a commercial vehicle safety blitz in Erin in June 2025. (Courtesy: OPP) Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police said they identified over 100 offences during a commercial vehicle safety blitz in the Town of Erin. A commercial vehicle is any vehicle used to transport goods or passengers for compensation, including transport trucks, buses and tow trucks. OPP teamed up with the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, Guelph Police Service and Halton Police Service to conduct the blitz on Monday. They conducted 37 inspections and pulled 20 vehicles off the road. Officers also issued 61 charges and 52 warnings, seized three plates, impounded a tow truck and the Ministry of Finance laid three charges for fuel tax offences.

Wallet allegedly stolen from Guelph woman in distraction theft, police say
Guelph Police are looking to identify these two individuals after an alleged distraction theft outside of a bank (Courtesy: The Guelph Police Service). The Guelph Police Service are asking for help identifying two people after they said a woman in her 70s had her wallet allegedly taken from her two months ago. Police said the woman went to a bank downtown on April 23 to take money out of an ATM. She told police she then left the bank and stopped to help another woman who dropped coins on the floor. She said she also noticed a different woman was standing very closely behind her at the time. Police said when the woman went to another nearby business and reached into her open purse to grab her wallet, she realized it was missing. She told police that she then went back to the bank where she learned almost $2,000 was withdrawn and purchases were made on her account. Police are looking to identify the two people pictured, who they believe have information on the incident. Police investigate two related thefts from Guelph business, almost $2.5K in cosmetics stolen

(Courtesy: Guelph Police Service) The Guelph Police Service is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect in connection to what they believe to be two related thefts from a Guelph business. Police say on May 29, staff of a store near Gordon Street and Clair Road reported a man inside the store they believed had been involved in two earlier thefts. Nearly $1,300 in cosmetics were stolen on April 15 and another $1,200 were stolen on May 4, according to police. 'No theft occurred May 29 as it is believed the man realized staff were watching him and left the store,' police said in a media release. 'He is described as having tanned skin, 5'10', 200 pounds with dark hair. Staff saw him getting into a grey Dodge Caravan." Guelph man charged with attempted murder for downtown stabbing
A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after two people were stabbed in downtown Guelph on Wednesday. The Guelph Police Service said officers were called to Guelph General Hospital at around 9:20 p.m. because two men had come in with stab wounds. Both remain in stable condition. Police determined that the pair had been hurt in a fight that broke out at a home near Yarmouth Street and Woolwich Street. Police said multiple people were at the property at the time of the incident. The suspect was not known to either of the victims. Police said they arrested a 29-year-old Guelph man on Thursday morning. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts of breaching court orders.
