Green Lantern Aaron Pierre Allegedly Being Eyed for James Bond
The search for the next James Bond continues, and while he already has a new face in the upcoming game, a rumor is going around about the next big screen Bond—and he's someone expected to blow up in the DC space very soon. According to insider Daniel RPK (via @TheOscarRace) Aaron Pierre ( Lanterns, Rebel Ridge ) is currently being considered for the role of 007. Of course, nothing official has been said about the matter, but Pierre has already proven that he can do some intense action sequences; in fact, it was speculated that it was his role in Rebel Ridge that got him the Green Lantern job. The way the internet works these days, it's very possible that the casting of Pierre could be met with intense backlash from the anti-woke crowd, but based on his work, I think he would make for a fantastic Bond. Admittedly, I prefer my 007 to be on the more lighthearted side, and it's still not clear if Pierre will be able to deliver that, seeing that a lot of his roles have been pretty serious. Then again, he was able to pull off a ridiculous character named 'Mid-Sized Sedan' in an M. Night Shyamalan movie, so maybe James Bond won't be so much of a stretch. As a character that's constantly being poked fun at today for not surviving cancel culture, MGM has a huge hurdle to get through if they want to keep 007 relevant for newer audiences. Maybe Pierre is the key, but we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, Pierre is expected to star in Lanterns which hits HBO Max sometime in 2026.

BLERD ALERT! Is A 'White' Black Panther On The Horizon?
TIMOTHY A. CLARY When it comes to Black superheroes, many tend to hold King T'Challa, aka the one and only Black Panther, to the highest of standards — he's right up there with Statik Shock, Blade, John Stewart's Green Lantern and his often-depicted wifey, Storm, just to name a few. It's one of the main reasons why Blerds everywhere have been making quite a ruckus lately in reaction to the release of Marvel Knights: The World To Come #1, a polarizing plot that sees our beloved T'Challa dying on the throne and a whole white son named Ketema stepping up to take his place on the throne. …say what ?! Take a look below at a semi-spoilers description of The World To Come #1 by way of the well-informed duo curating @MastersOfComicBooks: RELATED: BLERD ALERT! Our Favorite Black Girl Nerds In Pop Culture As the official description given by Marvel reads, 'With T'Challa gone, the future of the Marvel 616 Universe will be determined by a final tribal challenge for the Wakandan throne and the mysterious victor who will change Wakanda, and the Marvel Universe, forever.' With Earth-616 being the primary universe that most Marvel comics pass through, the events of Marvel Knights: The World To Come could prove to be permanent. With that said, many are wondering if art will imitate life and result in a white actor filling the role of Black Panther in place of the late Chadwick Boseman, who helped bring the character to the big screen back in 2018. In the five years since his untimely death due to colon cancer, which also led to his exclusion from the 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , the question has lingered as to whether BP will be recasted (likely), reworked in CGI form (very unlikely) or even retired to the bleachers as a tribute to Boseman (bittersweet). Could the introduction of Ketema be just what Hollywood execs were hoping for in order to get golden boys like Timothée Chalamet, Jacob Elordi or any of the many white counterparts to Michael B. Jordan and Jharrel Jerome a leading role in Wakanda? This brief deep dive by Screen Rant sums things up quite well: 'Having a white man under the Black Panther mask obviously won't sit right with many readers, and it would seem that is exactly Marvel's intention. Even without hints that Ketema's actions cause shockwaves through the future, his heinous actions should be enough to make people uncomfortable. The fact that the character is seemingly a Caucasion son of two Black parents only raises more questions. So the question now becomes, will the arrival of T'Challa's son mean a new king, or a new villain? Time will tell.' via @bardbaker777 2. Can't nobody be happy for a white black panther when yall sat up there and did Halle the way yall did for being a black mermaid … I normally would've said we some hypocrites but then I think about all the times racism was shown when black people were casted for certain roles 😅 via @ChiefMiyKeef via @EmansReviews 4. Alot of these content creators are so LOUD with the white black panther news, but be silent when black led books drop 👀 they didn't say nothing when black lightning dropped, or Earth M, DC Power Company, or when Ultimate Black Panther dropped but they so LOUD now. via @YoANerd via @81aep via @redcoatraccoon via @naMnaSYt via @JeremiahMuyagu via @Orksonlauri via @MugenLord SEE ALSO Black America Web Featured Video CLOSE

Nathan Fillion Talks About How The DCU Creative Team Decided On Green Lantern's Hairstyle, And Explains Why He Was Always ‘Team Bowl Cut'
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. After voicing Hal Jordan in various direct-to-video animated DC movies, including those within the DC Animated Movie Universe timeline, Nathan Fillion will soon be seen bringing another Green Lantern life. The Castle actor is appearing in James Gunn's Superman as Guy Gardner, who was the second human to become a member of the Green Lantern Corps in the comics. Guy is also known for his brash personality and occasionally sporting a distinctive hairstyle. Regarding the latter, Fillion opened up about how the bowl cut was decided upon for the character's DCU depiction. Make no mistake, Fillion was very much 'Team Bowl Cut' when the upcoming DC movie was being put together. He stated this while on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, saying the following about what it was like figuring out what kind of wig he'd be wearing on Superman: There was some talk about different hairstyles. There was some talk about some different types of things we were gonna go [with]. I was team bowl cut the whole way. It's canon, it's set. I said, 'If we don't do a bowl cut, we're gonna hear about it.' Although Guy Gardner has rocked other hairstyles in the comics, his bowl cut from the '80s, in particular from his time on the Justice League International, still stands out. So while it may not be the most fashionable look in the 2020s, Nathan Fillion was adamant that the bowl cut be selected, otherwise he feared that there'd be an outcry from fans. Evidently James Gunn, who also co-runs DC Studios, agreed with him, and thus another key DCU decision was made. When Nathan Fillion was asked if he considered growing out his hair, he explained that his current gig on The Rookie prevented him from doing that: Now, here's the thing. I have another job, with a boss who's kind enough to let me out for other projects. But I think he would draw the line [at] a bowl cut police officer. Yeah, I have to agree with him on that. It would be incredibly off-putting for John Nolan to suddenly start arresting criminals with a bowl cut on The Rookie, and a blonde one at that. The wig was a better call, and we'll be seeing plenty of it. After Superman's release, Fillion will reprise Guy Gardner alongside Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl and Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord in Peacemaker Season 2, which premieres August 21 on Max. After that, Fillion's Guy will be back for Lanterns, which is expected to arrive on HBO sometime in early 2026. Superman flies onto the 2025 movies schedule on July 11. However, you don't have to wait until then to dive into the DC Universe, as Creature Commandos Season 1 is streaming with a Max subscription.

Guy Gardner Returns In Lanterns Following Superman Debut, And I'm Digging What Nathan Fillion Said About How His Character Will Be Different In The DCU Show
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. As someone who's been a Green Lantern fan for over 15 years and was disappointed by how Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern movie turned out, I'm thrilled that this DC Comics property is getting another shot at live-action thanks to the DC Universe. First, we'll see the bowl cut-boasting Guy Gardner in action next month in James Gunn's Superman, and then we'll meet fellow Green Lantern Corps members Hal Jordan and John Stewart in Lanterns next year. It was announced at the end of March that Nathan Fillion will also reprise Guy in that upcoming DC TV show, and I'm digging what the actor had to say about how his Green Lantern character will differ there compared to how he's depicted in Superman. Lanterns will mark Fillion's third time playing Guy, as he's appearing in Peacemaker Season 2 this August alongside fellow Justice Gang member Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and the team's benefactor, Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn). However, 2026 will be the first time we see this version of Guy interact with other Green Lanterns, and here's what the star of ABC's The Rookie said to EW about how that will look: I think he feels a little bit higher strung in Lanterns. I've done a scene in Lanterns, we filmed it already, where he's contently smug. It's neat to see him in different environments and how those different environments will affect a character. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre are respectively playing these characters in Lanterns, which will follow them investigating a murder in the American heartland. It's unclear how Guy will get involved, but I'm guessing this will be his first time meeting John and one of his many interactions with Hal if they've both been in the Green Lantern Corps for a while. Fillion also spent some time talking about Guy Gardner's overinflated ego, and how he's a prime example that just because you're a Green Lantern doesn't make you a role model. In the actor's words: What is very true about Guy you don't have to be good and pure of heart to be a Green Lantern. You just have to be fearless. You just have to have the will. And Guy Gardner thinks he can take on Superman. That's how fearless he is. No, you can't take on Superman, dude. I'm curious to learn how Guy Garner ends up factoring into Lanterns, as this story is about Hal and John, so he should only be there to support them rather than steal the show. That said, considering this Green Lantern TV show will also feature Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, I wouldn't mind whatsoever seeing Guy trash talk the Korugarian who was once a Green Lantern and now wields the yellow energy of fear. If there's one thing Guy knows how to do, it's annoy an adversary… and his allies too, actually. Lanterns is expected to premiere on HBO sometime in early 2026, with episodes also being available to stream with a Max subscription. Watch Nathan Fillion bring Guy Gardner to life for the first time when Superman is released on July 11.

James Gunn Says There Is ‘Zero Truth' to Warner Bros. Making Him Shorten ‘Superman' Runtime: ‘They Couldn't Even if That's Something That They Wanted'
James Gunn is setting the record straight on the 'Superman' runtime. On Instagram Threads, a user reached out to the DC Studios head to ask if the run time of two hours and nine minutes was accurate. Gunn responded, stating that the rumored time was dead on. More from Variety As Comic Book Movies Scale Back Releases, Marvel and DC Look to This Summer to Decide the Future of Superhero Cinema Inside the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront: Big Laughs for 'HBO Max' Name Change; No NBA, But Shaq Still Stops By to Promote 'Superman' Movie 'Superman' Trailer: Lois Lane Interviews Superman After He Stops a War Single-Handedly and Gets Arrested 'Inclusive of credits/post credits the runtime is 2 hours 9 minutes,' Gunn replied. Gunn was then asked about another rumored topic: Whether or not Warner Bros. had asked him to shorten the film. Gunn once again weighed in. 'Zero truth to that,' he wrote. 'And they couldn't even if that's something that they wanted to [do]. It's a DC Studios film.' Previously titled 'Superman: Legacy,' 'Superman' is written and directed by Gunn. David Corenswet stars as the titular Man of Steel opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult plays the film's villain, the megalomaniac super-genius Lex Luthor. Other members of the cast include Skyler Gisondo as journalist Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as the Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Gunn's directorial debut as head of DC Studios is the first solo Superman film in over a decade. The last movie centering around the Son of Krypton was Zack Snyder's 2013 'Man of Steel,' which went on to gross $670 million at the worldwide box office. That film kicked off a DC-connected universe, which included films like 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' 'Wonder Woman,' 'Suicide Squad' and 'The Flash.' The timeline ended with 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' in December 2023. 'Superman' hits theaters July 11.
