NCB, EAGLE Visakhapatnam organises Cyclothon to commemorate 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada'
Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 22 (ANI): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), along with EAGLE Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with Decathlon, successfully organised a Cyclothon today as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada' campaign. The event was held in alignment with the United Nations' resolution to observe 26th June as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The Cyclothon was flagged off by Pankaj Kumar Dwivedi, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the event was coordinated by Rajan Kumar, Superintendent, NCB Visakhapatnam, S Ramesh, Inspector EAGLE and Mrs. Kalyani, Inspector EAGLE. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders, including EAGLE Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Visakhapatnam, and State Bank of India (SBI), Siripuram Branch. Over 100 cyclists from diverse backgrounds took part in the event, raising awareness and spreading the powerful message: Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs.' The participants pedalled through designated city routes, symbolising unity and a collective stand against the menace of drug abuse. The event reinforced NCB's and ANTF's commitment to community engagement and drug prevention through public awareness initiatives and collaborative efforts. (ANI)

Drug awareness meet held at Srisailam
The Nandyal police, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Adhiraj Singh Rana and Deputy SP Ramamji Naik, organised a drug awareness programme at Srisailam on Wednesday. Youth, residents, and workers from the transport segment participated in the event in large numbers. Srisailam temple executive officer M. Srinivasa Rao was the chief guest. Meanwhile, the police officials appealed to the public to report instances of drug abuse via the toll-free number 1972 and underscored the need for strict enforcement under the NDPS Act. The officials also highlighted the vital role played by the State's Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE).

Yoga must be a part of daily life: Minister
Rajamahendravaram: Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh emphasised the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life, noting that it promotes both physical health and mental well-being. He participated as the chief guest at the Yogandhra programme held on Saturday at Sri Satyadeva Nursery in Kadiyapulanka village, Kadiyam mandal, of Rajamahendravaram Rural constituency. The event was organised in Kadiyam Nurseries, a popular tourist destination under the aegis of the Sir Arthur Cotton Nursery Association. Minister Durgesh, along with local MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, District Collector P Prasanthi, and other officials, took part in Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, and various yoga asanas. The Minister called on everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routines for a healthier life. He stated that yoga, along with meditation and physical exercise, plays a key role in managing stress and improving mental resilience. A poster created by EAGLE (Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement) as part of the anti-drug campaign was released by the Minister at this event. District Collector P Prasanthi said that the Yogandhra campaign, designed as a month-long programme was launched by the Chief Minister to spread awareness on the significance of regular yoga practice. MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary said that India introduced yoga to the world and expressed pride that over 170 countries now observe International Yoga Day annually. As part of the programme, a mango plant was ceremonially named 'Yogandhra 11' by Minister Durgesh, while another plant was named 'PSN 5' by Collector Prasanthi. Vriksha Vilapam song, penned by District School Education Officer K Vasudeva Rao, was also performed. District Yogandhra Nodal Officer and Joint Collector S Chinna Rammudu, nursery owners Kuppala Durga Rao, Pulla Peda Satyanarayana, Merla Krishna, Pulla Veera Venkata Rao, Nursery Association President Ratnam Ayyappa, RDO R Krishna Naik, District Tourism Officer P Venkatachalam, AP MIP PD A Durgesh, District Agriculture Officer S Madhava Rao, Information Officer Ch Srinivas, Horticulture Officer B Sujata Kumari and others participated.

There's no permission for building wall at Simhachalam save for oral instructions
Visakhapatnam: Recommendations will be made to the state government to ensure that incidents like Simhachalam wall collapse should not be repeated in future, emphasised Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S Suresh Kumar. Stating that the preliminary report of Simhachalam incident came to a close, the committee member said that the report will be submitted to the state government on Saturday. Sharing details with the media, Suresh Kumar underlined that there was no permission for the wall that was built in a hurry to facilitate queue line for Chandanotsavam. The wall was built based on oral instructions. The evidence for the preliminary report has been collected. There is a need to carry out the inquiry with state-level officials, the committee member said. He said apart from tourism and endowments department officials, priests of Simhachalam were also being probed and a detailed report will be readied in a month's time. The committee members further said that opinions will also be taken from the public and a detailed enquiry will be carried out. Suresh Kumar said the probe was being investigated from all angles and material sample was collected from the incident spot. 'The retaining wall was built in a hurry. There was no record for its approval and the standard maintained to build it,' the committee members stated. The wall collapse incident at Simhachalam claimed seven devotees. The three-member committee was constituted by the state government to investigate into Simhachalam wall collapse incident continued its investigation for the second day. Based on the directions of the state government, the committee carried out a preliminary report in 72 hours. The three-member committee under the chairmanship of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S Suresh Kumar, EAGLE chief Ake Ravi Krishna, irrigation engineer in chief Venkateswara Rao launched the investigation visiting Simhachalam soon after the wall collapse incident occurred on Chandanostavam day.
