There's no permission for building wall at Simhachalam save for oral instructions

Visakhapatnam: Recommendations will be made to the state government to ensure that incidents like Simhachalam wall collapse should not be repeated in future, emphasised Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S Suresh Kumar.
Stating that the preliminary report of Simhachalam incident came to a close, the committee member said that the report will be submitted to the state government on Saturday.
Sharing details with the media, Suresh Kumar underlined that there was no permission for the wall that was built in a hurry to facilitate queue line for Chandanotsavam.
The wall was built based on oral instructions. The evidence for the preliminary report has been collected. There is a need to carry out the inquiry with state-level officials, the committee member said.
He said apart from tourism and endowments department officials, priests of Simhachalam were also being probed and a detailed report will be readied in a month's time. The committee members further said that opinions will also be taken from the public and a detailed enquiry will be carried out.
Suresh Kumar said the probe was being investigated from all angles and material sample was collected from the incident spot.
'The retaining wall was built in a hurry. There was no record for its approval and the standard maintained to build it,' the committee members stated.
The wall collapse incident at Simhachalam claimed seven devotees. The three-member committee was constituted by the state government to investigate into Simhachalam wall collapse incident continued its investigation for the second day.
Based on the directions of the state government, the committee carried out a preliminary report in 72 hours.
The three-member committee under the chairmanship of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S Suresh Kumar, EAGLE chief Ake Ravi Krishna, irrigation engineer in chief Venkateswara Rao launched the investigation visiting Simhachalam soon after the wall collapse incident occurred on Chandanostavam day.

Amaravathi will be completed in next two years: Narayana

Nellore: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana has alleged that the previous YSRCP government has left 85 lakh tonnes of garbage instead of caring for the welfare of the State. Along with the officials, on Saturday he inspected the ongoing works of the construction of Legacy Waste Management Plant (LWMP) at the dumping yard in Allipuram village of Nellore rural mandal. Speaking the occasion, the Minister said that 50 per cent of the garbage of the total 85 lakh tonnes was already recycled, while the remaining is under progress. He asserted that AP will be transformed as garbage-free State by October 2 this year. Ruling out the allegations of the Opposition over Thalliki Vandanam scheme, Narayana said that YSRCP leaders are unable to digest the facts and propagating lies for its political existence. He compared that the coalition government has provided Rs 10,000 for 67.25 lakh beneficiaries with Thalliki Vandanam, while YSRCP spent only Rs 5,000 crore for 42 lakh beneficiaries under Amma Vodi scheme during its rule. The Minister has said that AP is the only State in the entire country that is spending Rs 34,000 crore on social security pensions. He said 2.25 lakh people are getting benefited through Anna Canteens by having breakfast, lunch, dinner at just Rs 5, while women are getting three LPG gas cylinders per annum at free of cost. Narayana asserted that there is no question of compromise in fulfilling the assurances including super six given to the people by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, which would be implemented in a phased manner. Finding fault with former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of adopting double standards over Amaravathi capital issue, Minister Narayana recalled that Jagan, when he was Opposition leader in 2014, defended the TDP government's decision of acquiring 30,000 acres for Amaravathi capital, now opposing it for political mileage. Amaravathi will be completed in the next two years as tenders were already finalised for the purpose, he added.

Nellore Bara Shaheed Dargah to get Rs five crore facelift

NELLORE: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister Ponguru Narayana has directed officials to make grand arrangements for the upcoming Roti festival at the renowned Bara Shaheed Dargah in Nellore. The festival is set to begin on July 6, and preparations were reviewed at a high-level meeting held on Sunday at SR Sankaran Hall in the Collectorate. Narayana highlighted the historical significance of Bara Shaheed Dargah, and revealed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sanctioned Rs 5 crore specifically for the development of the dargah. 'Using these funds, we will construct a large prayer hall that can accommodate 20,000 devotees at once,' he said, adding that the project will be taken up under the supervision of NUDA (Nellore Urban Development Authority). He instructed municipal officials to coordinate with the Joint Collector to ensure all required arrangements for devotees are completed on time. Narayana expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in painting works at key urban locations. The Maud Minister directed officials to complete all painting works in the city within 45 days. Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy appreciated Narayana's efforts in securing Rs 5 crore for the Dargah's development. He revealed that under the leadership of State Waqf Board Chairman Abdul Aziz, the prayer hall design has been finalised and construction will soon begin. NUDA Chairman Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy assured that the tender process will be completed soon.
