Diana Penty says she has been in a live-in relationship for 12 years with boyfriend Harsh Sagar, marriage is not important to them: ‘In my head, I am…'

Actor Diana Penty has been in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, diamond merchant Harsh Sagar. While the couple has been dating each other since more than a decade and living together in Mumbai, they don't feel the urgency to tie the knot. In a recent interview, Diana opened up about her decision and spoke about the preconceived notion that models are promiscuous. During a conversation with Hauterrfly, the actor shared her thoughts about marriage, revealing that they and their families are in no rush. 'Yes, I am not single. I will not go on a rooftop and shout about it, but my partner and I have been together for 12 years, and we've known each other for 22 years, which is half of my life. So even though I am not married, in my head I am. It's the same thing because you're respecting the relationship in the same way,' she said. 'Both our families are very chill, they respect what we have. Both sides say that our happiness is most important. So, there's been no pressure of marriage. We live together. We have a dog together. Everybody knows we are together, there's no rush really. It's pretty much like being married, it's just that it's not on paper. But, that makes no difference to me or to him,' she added. She said in a furious tone, 'I don't know where these perceptions come from. We are all human beings at the end of the day. Human beings who have certain principles, morals, ethics, their own set of how they have been brought up, what they are comfortable with and what not. Each to its own.' The actor added, 'Everybody is different, everyone has their own personalities. It's not basis your profession, it's basis who you are. You respect everybody for who they are. Just because one person is a certain way, doesn't mean that everyone who is doing the same job is that certain way. That's like saying all directors are the same. There's one director who has a certain personality and does a few promiscuous things, so all directors do that. No! Everybody is different.' When asked if any inappropriate advances have been made towards her during her modelling career, she replied, 'I have always right from the beginning set my boundaries and made it very clear. That's a part of who I am, I don't generally let people in my space easily. That's maybe because I am an only child.'

Diana Penty REVEALS Why Imtiaz Ali Dropped Her From Rockstar Opposite Ranbir Kapoor: 'He Felt...'

Last Updated: Diana Penty recalls losing out on Rockstar after 2–3 weeks of workshops with Imtiaz Ali, only to land Cocktail a year later—thanks to his memory and her steady growth. Before she became a household name with Cocktail, Bollywood actor Diana Penty was just another promising model, building her career on global runways. But few know that she was once close to debuting in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar opposite Ranbir Kapoor—until the opportunity slipped away. In a recent candid chat with Hauterrfly, Diana opened up about that brief, almost-there brush with the big screen. 'I was in New York modelling when my agency called to say Imtiaz Ali was looking for a fresh face for his next film, Rockstar. Honestly, acting wasn't even on my radar back then. I hadn't taken any formal training. I didn't think I had it in me," she admitted. Despite her initial hesitation, Diana flew down to India to meet the Jab We Met director. She was instantly taken by his warmth. 'He made me feel really comfortable, and during our first meeting, I could just be myself," she shared. Soon after, Imtiaz asked her to join acting workshops. Diana dove in, pushing her limits. But after a few weeks, she got the call. 'He said, 'You've come a long way and shown great improvement, but I still don't think you're ready to play this character.'" She wasn't entirely disappointed. 'I think deep down, I felt a sense of relief. I wasn't confident yet," she said, reflecting on the rejection with surprising calm. Diana returned to New York and resumed modelling—until fate circled back. 'A year later, I got a call saying Dinesh Vijan was looking for a new face for a film called Cocktail. And guess what? It was written by Imtiaz Ali. He remembered me and thought I'd be perfect for Meera's character," she revealed. Within 24 hours of her audition, Diana was confirmed for the role—and the rest is history. Rockstar eventually went to Nargis Fakhri and became a cult hit, while Cocktail, starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, turned Diana into an overnight star. The film grossed over ₹120 crore globally and cemented her place in the industry. Now, Diana returns to the screen in Detective Sherdil, a quirky whodunit currently streaming on ZEE5. Directed by Ravi Chhabriya, the film features an ensemble cast including Diljit Dosanjh, Boman Irani, Banita Sandhu, and Chunky Panday. First Published:

The wry comment the Queen made when she saw newborn Prince William - and why he was known as 'baby Wales'

The birth of an heir is a time for national celebration. Street parties were held, commemorative plates were made and broadcasting was paused for the royal announcement. Baby Wales, as he was known for his first few days, was born at around 9pm on June 21, 1982, weighing 7lb 1oz. The most dedicated members of the press and public gathered outside St. Mary's Hospital and Buckingham Palace, where a notice announcing the birth was placed. Everyone was desperate to catch a glimpse of the future king before anyone else. But the late Queen, known for her wry sense of humour, had one concern on her mind. Andrew Morton wrote in his book Diana: Her True Story: 'When the Queen came to visit her grandchild the following day her comment was atypical. 'As she looked at the tiny bundle she said drily: "Thank goodness he hasn't got ears like his father."' Prince Charles was born with large ears compared to his head, which have become one of his most well-known and ridiculed features. The late Duke of Edinburgh reportedly said baby Charles looked like a 'plum pudding' when he was a baby. Diana had been a difficult pregnancy - and an even more challenging delivery. Morton wrote: 'During her labour Diana's temperature soared dramatically, which in turn gave rise to concern for the baby's health.' She was in labour for 16 hours and she was attended to by the Queen's own surgeon, George Pinker, who also oversaw her pregnancy. Morton wrote that Diana was continually sick and at one point Mr Pinker and his fellow doctors considered performing an emergency Caesarean operation. But in the end Diana was given an epidural and gave birth naturally. Charles was by her side during the delivery and she gave birth standing up with her husband holding her, as advised by natural childbirth activist Sheila Kitzinger. The news of the royal birth made the front page of the national papers Diana's birth would be a complete contrast to the Queen's reflection that, with modern anaesthesia, birth had become 'a sleep and a forgetting'. While Diana enjoyed the experience of having her husband by her side, she later recounted the 'disappointment' Charles felt when Harry was born and not a daughter. And then came choosing a name. Morton wrote: 'Charles wanted to call his first son Arthur and his second Albert, after Queen Victoria's consort. 'William and Harry were Diana's choices while her husband's preferences were used in their children's middle names.' Baby Wales' name was chosen after William the Conqueror, victor of the famed Battle of Hastings in 1066. He was christened William Arthur Philip Louis. His second name came from the legendary King of the Round Table, his grandfather inspired third name and the name Louis rounds out the mix - a name he has since passed down to his second son. But not everyone shared the good news. Prince Charles (pictured right in 1949) was born with large ears compared to his head, which have become one of his most well-known features Morton wrote: 'William and Harry were Diana's choices while her husband's preferences were used in their children's middle names' Despite now being thought of as Charles's right-hand woman, Princess Anne and Charles went through a challenging period in their relationship. According to the book Battle of Brothers by Robert Lacey, Anne's 'notorious frostiness seemed to grow a couple of degrees chillier whether the subject of Diana came up'. Anne appears to have been unreceptive when told that Diana had given birth to Prince William in June 1982. The princess had been touring Indian reservations in New Mexico for Save the Children when a reporter asked for her reaction to the good news. 'I didn't know she had one,' the princess snapped. Another reporter tried with: 'Do you think everyone is making too much fuss of the baby?' 'Yes,' came the curt response. At the time, says Lacey, Anne was undertaking more than 200 engagements a year compared with Diana's 50 and only 90-plus for Charles. Anne and Charles got on well as children and are pictured in the grounds of Balmoral Castle in September 1952 According to Lacey, a Palace insider explained as follows: 'Anne works very hard and sees her sister-in-law picking up the glory. She's sick to the back teeth with it all.' The depth of the ill-feeling was exposed soon afterward when, although Anne had asked Charles to be a Godparent to her first child, Peter Phillips, the compliment was not reciprocated. Anne was not invited to be William's Godmother and was not on the list when it came to Prince Harry's turn to be baptised in 1984. William's godparents instead included King Constantine II of Greece and Princess Alexandra of Kent. His christening took place in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace on August 4, 1982, on the 82nd Birthday of his great-grandmother the Queen Mother. William reportedly cried through the entire photoshoot as he was only a month old. Diana gave an emotional account of the day to Morton a decade later in 1992, remembering the event in the context of the breakdown in her marriage. 'Nobody asked me when it was suitable for William,' she said. '11 o'clock couldn't have been worse. Endless pictures of the queen, queen mother, Charles and William. I was excluded totally that day.' As Harry was carried to the font at St George's chapel, Windsor, Anne was out with her husband in the Gloucestershire countryside - shooting rabbits. Charles and Diana are pictured at home with William in December 1982 For as long as possible William was allowed to grow up not knowing that his future was already mapped out for life. He was a boisterous child, briefly known as 'Basher Billy' at nursery school. But it could not have been long before a sensitive child such as William came to understand there was something different about his own life. As he teaches his own children, George, Charlotte and Louis, about their roles within the Firm, he will be all too aware of the pressure they will face. But even the most senior royals are able to crack a joke when the time comes. The late Queen made a similar quip when she was asked about Prince George's impending arrival back in 2013. While visiting the Lake District days before her great-grandson arrived, the monarch met a group of students who eagerly asked her what gender she hoped the new baby would be.

MPs grant pubs extra time to open if England or Wales reach Women's Euros semis

Bars will be allowed to sell alcohol until 1am, if either England or Wales – or both – take part in the European Championship semi-finals or finals next month. Policing minister Dame Diana Johnson said venues 'stand to benefit' from the temporary later closing time, pushed back from the usual 11pm cut-off, and Conservative MP Andrew Snowden warned his father might 'disown' him, had his party not backed the Government's proposal. But if neither team manages to reach the final stages, pubs will have to stick to their ordinary licence conditions. The semi-finals take place on July 22 and 23, with the final on July 27. Dame Diana said this year's championship in Switzerland, which kicks off on July 2, was a 'prestigious tournament'. She said a Government order paved the way for a 'temporary extension of licensing hours across England and Wales should either England or Wales or both progress to the semi-finals or the final of the competition'. MPs laughed when she added: 'I have to say, from my limited following of football, it seems like the women's teams have a reputation for doing far better than our male teams.' A Home Office consultation found 87% of respondents backed the proposed extension of licensing hours for the semi-finals, dropping to 84% for the final, Dame Diana told the Commons. Publicans 'stand to benefit from this modest extension which would allow them to accommodate increased demand during these high-profile fixtures', she said, and added: 'I fully accept that the hospitality sector has had a difficult time over the last few years and this is a helpful measure. 'It is right to acknowledge as well that police representatives have expressed some concerns regarding the potential for increased crime and disorder. 'Now, whilst operational decisions on deployment and resourcing are a matter for individual forces, I am confident that appropriate measures will be taken to mitigate any risks, as has happened in similar cases. 'Notably, there have been no significant incidents of large-scale disorder linked to previous licensing extensions, which I think is testament to the professionalism of our police service, to whom we owe our thanks.' The move to extend licensing hours applies only to alcohol, and does not apply to off licences and supermarkets. 'If neither England nor Wales reach the semi-finals, the proposed extension will not apply on July 22 or 23. Similarly, if one or both teams reach the semi-finals but do not progress to the final, normal licensing hours will apply on July 27,' Dame Diana warned. Mr Snowden, the MP for Fylde, said his party was 'delighted to support these temporary licensing changes'. He added: 'To be fair, I don't think I would have much choice on this matter, as if I ever stood at this despatch box and opposed more time in the pub to watch football, my dad would probably disown me.' Mr Snowden told MPs there was 'no reason why we should doubt' that the reigning champions, England, will reach the semi-finals. 'We are the defending champions of the Women's Uefa cup after England's magnificent performance at the 2022 tournament hosted here in the UK at Wembley,' he told MPs. 'The final saw a 2-1 victory, and of course in football, it was made all the sweeter by beating the Germans. 'So this is a fantastic time to support your local as well as your national.' MPs called 'aye' to approve the extension. Ministers can extend licences for events 'of exceptional international, national, or local significance', but must ask for MPs' permission. Labour MP for Wrexham Andrew Ranger has called for a tweak in the law, so that ministers can extend licensing hours without the need for a vote in Parliament. Dame Diana said the Government has supported his Licensing Hours Extension Bill, but added it would not clear both the Commons and the Lords in time for the Women's Euros. She said agreeing to Thursday's order – originally laid on May 15 – without a division reinforced 'the argument that debating such measures may not represent the most effective use of parliamentary time'. England and Wales face each other on July 13, with both home nations in Group D alongside France and the Netherlands. The Lionesses will face France on July 5 when Wales will play the Netherlands. On July 9, England will play the Netherlands while Wales face France. Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate licensing rules.
