NYT Connections Hints For Friday June 20: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections. Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's: Hey there, Connectors! It's almost the weekend. It's also the official start of summer or winter, depending on where you are in the world. So, there's that! I hope you're doing okay. Not just "okay" as in when someone asks how you're doing and that's what you say even when you're not actually feeling your best. But that you're truly doing at least pretty well. It's okay to not feel okay, though, especially given a lot of what's going on in the world. As long as you're not harming anyone else or yourself, you're entirely free to feel and think and do as you please. So feel your feelings, let them all out if you need to and, when you're ready, try to stay positive. Don't let the you-know-who grind you down. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. Today's Connections word hints are… Today's Connections groups are... Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... If anyone thought for a second that I wouldn't get the blue group instantly, they clearly don't know me very well. Here, we have references to Bret "The HITMAN" Hart, Dwayne "The ROCK" Johnson (aka one of the biggest stars in the world), Jake "The SNAKE" Roberts and, of course, The UNDERTAKER. The latter character was a mortician, then a zombie mortician, then a lord of darkness-type, then a biker, then a zombie mortician, then, like, a psuedo-MMA guy, then a biker again. I think that was the order of the gimmicks at least. Pro wrestling is fun, and that's a shoot, brother. Anyway, squaring that away helped me see everything else quite clearly. POETIC and PAPER landed next to each other. I figured they were linked by "wax," and that led me to the purples. To "wax poetic" means to talk in a long-winded way, perhaps getting increasingly enthusiastic. It was a toss up for me as to which group were the greens and yellows. But I guessed correctly, and submitted the greens then the yellows. Also, the ROCK, PAPER and SCISSORS red herring was fun, but a very obvious trap. So I didn't feel bad about giving that away in the level two hints. A perfect game takes me to win 115 on the bounce. Here's my grid: 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. I'll be back with you all here on Monday. In the meantime, you can check out my weekend editions of this column in my newsletter, Pastimes. Have an excellent weekend. P.S. You might have been expecting me to recommend something pro wrestling-related here. But no! That would have been too easy (I was tempted, I admit). Instead, I'm going for something that ties into the yellows. It's been a long time since I've seen Be Kind, Rewind, but I remember liking it quite a bit. It's a sweet film, a bit of a love letter to cinema. The trailer gives away the entire plot, but the story doesn't really matter much with this one. It's all about heart, humor and creativity: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and others! Call someone you love! NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Thursday, June 19: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Wednesday's: Hey there, Connectors! I hope your week is going as deliciously as possible. I've had a full beard for a long time. It's been over 10 years since I've been clean shaven. I'm still claiming that despite a recent mishap. While using a new electric razor/clipper thing that I picked up, I accidentally buzzed pretty much all of my beard off. I tidy my face fuzz in the shower instead of the sink to make cleaning up easier, but there's no mirror (not that I'd see much without my glasses on anyway). You'd think that I'd at least feel what I'm doing, but nope. It's pure vibes for me. It wasn't all gone. The clipper left some stubble, so I can still say I wasn't clean shaven. There is a lesson here for me, I think. Maybe it's not always best to jump into something new with both feet. A little caution might be the best course of action. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. Today's Connections word hints are… Today's Connections groups are... Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... I enjoyed the FINAL DESTINATION reference on the top line. Those horror films are invariably good, gory fun. The latest one became available to rent and buy digitally this week. I've heard positive things about Final Destination Bloodlines, so I'm looking forward to catching it this weekend. (Seeing TRAIN and STOPS together on the top line was amusing too. The train in the original Final Destination did not stop. If you know, you know.) Oh yeah, we've got a Connections puzzle to solve! Let's do that. The yellows fit together easily enough in my mind. HOMEWORK was a dead giveaway there. I then took a stab at BALL, MASKS, GLOVES and JACKETS, thinking they'd be related to a masquerade ball. That left me one away from a group. I realized a moment later that I was actually looking for fencing gear, so I swapped out BALL for FOILS (one of the weapons used in fencing). I was a little surprised to see that was the purple group. (I was stumped for a hint, so I went for a pun on "fencing." Please don't be mad <3) The greens jumped out at me after that. That left the blues. I did figure out the connection before submitting those. I wonder how many people have played with JACKS this century. No perfect game this time, because I am too gosh darn hasty. Still, that's win 114 for my latest streak. Here's the grid: 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟪🟪🟪 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Friday's game if you need them. P.S. Last week, I saw Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins play a bunch of Pumpkins songs with a band that was not the Pumpkins, but included another one of the Pumpkins. The tour marks the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and the 25th anniversary of Machina/The Machines of God. The show was… fine? It was fun to hear Corgan and crew play the likes of "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "Tonight Tonight" in a small, sub-1,000-capacity venue. I had been looking forward to this show and, as I often do, I checked the setlist for previous dates. I was happy to see that the previous few had five-song encores, including my absolute favorite Pumpkins song, "Stand Inside Your Love." On this night, however, the encore was only one song long. Don't get me wrong, it was cool to see former Pumpkins bass player (and Montreal native) Melissa Auf der Maur make a guest appearance on "The Everlasting Gaze" to close the night, but I was sad not to hear "Stand Inside Your Love" live for the second time in my life. Anyway, since I've recommended that song and "Tonight Tonight" in this column previously, let's go with "Disarm" (a track from Siamese Dream that I didn't hear the other night) rather than a sonically heavier Pumpkins track: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and others! Call someone you love! India poised to succeed at all layers of AI stack: OpenAI's Jason Kwon

India is becoming a global artificial intelligence (AI) powerhouse with the second-highest number of users of OpenAI's ChatGPT, a thriving community of developers that are among the top 10 countries globally building on OpenAI's application programming interfaces (APIs), the company's chief strategy officer, Jason Kwon, said. 'With the vast and growing pool of AI talent, a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, and strong government support to expand the critical infrastructure, India is poised to succeed at all layers of the AI stack,' Kwon said. The executive was in India on Thursday as part of his global tour. On Thursday, OpenAI launched the OpenAI Academy India, the first international expansion of the company's education platform. Through the academy, OpenAI will support the IndiaAI Mission's FutureSkills pillar by expanding access to AI skills training for a wide range of learners — students, developers, educators, civil servants, nonprofit leaders, and small-business owners, the company said. Apart from this, the company will provide educational content on the government's Karmayogi platform, which aims to enhance skills and build capacity among public servants and government officials. On Thursday, OpenAI said it now supported 3 million paying business users of ChatGPT, up from 2 million in February. The company announced the launch of the beta version of Connectors, a tool that can help enterprises find granular data from their third-party tools without leaving ChatGPT. 'Additionally, deep research connectors (beta) are now available with HubSpot, Linear, as well as many popular Microsoft and Google tools. These build on Deep Research, an agent that conducts multi-step research for complex tasks, by gathering, synthesizing, and presenting information from third-party tools and the web,' the company said in a press note.

NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Friday, June 6: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's: Hey there, Connectors! The weekend is almost upon us. I hope it's a terrific one for you. If you're looking for some weekend reading, I would suggest checking out Tending Gardens. In this newsletter, "novice writer and farmer" Kana Chan provides a look into life in the rural village of Kamikatsu, Japan's first zero-waste municipality. It's always a joy to look in my inbox and see one of these notes about a style of living that's completely different to mine. In the most recent edition of Tending Gardens, Chan – who moved to Japan after growing up in Canada – wrote about Japanese vocabulary and learning words in the local dialect that are related to slow living: Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Today's Connections word hints are… Today's Connections groups are... Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... We had at least two groups with five possibilities here: Let me tell you my heart swelled when I saw that there was a bunch of journalism-related words. NEWSHOUND didn't quite fit, though, as it's not a description of a job. That stood out to me and as I looked at the construction of the word (and the very out-of-place SNICKERDOODLE), the purples quickly became clear. I wasn't quite sure about the two groups other than the journalism jobs, so I cleared the yellows to get a better look at those. For what it's worth, when anyone asks me what I do for a living, I tend to say I'm a writer or blogger. I sometimes do some actual reporting (and I'm officially a "contributing reporter" elsewhere), but I mainly put words together on blogs. That's what I do. ROUTINE seemed the most likely to go with SWINDLE, CRIMINAL and DRAWBACK, so I made a guess with those four and was one away. Booo. On closer inspection, CONVENTION starts with "con," which can also mean a scam, so that made more sense. Indeed, that got me the blues. A slightly different connection than I had in mind, but I'll take it. That left the greens for victory. I had no problem figuring out the connection there. For the record, here's how I fared with this one: 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟩🟦🟦 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. I'll be back with you all here on Monday. I've no idea why this song popped into my head the other day, but it did, so I thought I'd share it with you all. I saw colonopenbracket open for a fun band called Drive-By Argument a very long time ago. I enjoyed their set quite a bit and "Cute" is my favorite thing I've heard from them. It's in the chiptune genre (think music made with the soundcard of old Nintendo consoles) and the musicality here is quite interesting. It sounds little like Owl City. Appropriately enough, I find this song rather cute: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Call someone you love! NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Thursday, June 5: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Wednesday's: Hey there, Connectors! I hope you've had a fabulous week so far. This is a big day and not only because the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally out in the world. I reached a 99-game Connections winning streak yesterday. That's by far my longest streak (my previous best was 32). A win today will take me into double figures. That would be quite nice. Ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of the universe, but arbitrary numbers do something to our brains. I want to feel those endorphins hit hard as my streak counter tips over into double figures. I'm ready. Let's do this. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Today's Connections word hints are… Today's Connections groups are... Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... I found it quite interesting that both PIPE and APPLE carried over from yesterday's game! RIM could have gone with the car-related stuff but I thought it made more sense with VERGE, BRINK and CUSP. But no! I was one away from a group there. I realized a moment later that EVE should go with those three. I blame the EVE, SNAKE and APPLE red herring for me getting that wrong at first. No more drama. It was all pretty straightforward from there. I got the greens then the blues no problem. I should have at least recognized the performers in the purples but alas, I did not. They refer to Fiona APPLE, Sheryl CROW, Donna SUMMER (who won for 'Hot Stuff,' which is more of a disco song, I'd say) and Tina TURNER. Crow, Turner and Pat Benatar each won this Grammy category four times before it was rightfully merged with the male equivalent into the Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance category (which itself was discontinued). Anyway, I am into triple digits with a Connections streak for the first time ever! I don't care that I got here without getting a perfect game at the end. It feels like a nice little achievement to reach this point for the first time, especially after only looking up things once on this run (I had to Google those types of penguins a few weeks ago!). Anyway, for the record, here's how I fared with this one: 🟦🟨🟨🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Friday's game if you need them. P.S. I'm gonna have to go with a song from one of the performers in the purple group. I really love "Soak Up The Sun" by Sheryl Crow. It's such a great summer song and it has a nice message about having a positive attitude. Somewhat ironically, I spent pretty much an entire summer listening to C'mon, C'mon (the album this is song is from), Come Away With Me by Norah Jones and Audioslave's self-titled debut while staying inside and playing a video game with my friends. I'm gonna try to do a better job of taking the song's title to heart this summer (remember to wear sunscreen and take other heat precautions!): Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Call someone you love!
