NYT Connections Hints For Friday June 20: Clues And Answers For Today's Game

Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Thursday's:
Hey there, Connectors! It's almost the weekend. It's also the official start of summer or winter, depending on where you are in the world. So, there's that!
I hope you're doing okay. Not just "okay" as in when someone asks how you're doing and that's what you say even when you're not actually feeling your best. But that you're truly doing at least pretty well.
It's okay to not feel okay, though, especially given a lot of what's going on in the world. As long as you're not harming anyone else or yourself, you're entirely free to feel and think and do as you please. So feel your feelings, let them all out if you need to and, when you're ready, try to stay positive. Don't let the you-know-who grind you down.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.

Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Friday, June 20 are coming right up.
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app.
You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.
There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.
Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.
Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.
Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today's Connections groups, I'll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them.

Spoiler alert! Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers.
This is your final warning!
Today's Connections answers are...
If anyone thought for a second that I wouldn't get the blue group instantly, they clearly don't know me very well. Here, we have references to Bret "The HITMAN" Hart, Dwayne "The ROCK" Johnson (aka one of the biggest stars in the world), Jake "The SNAKE" Roberts and, of course, The UNDERTAKER.
The latter character was a mortician, then a zombie mortician, then a lord of darkness-type, then a biker, then a zombie mortician, then, like, a psuedo-MMA guy, then a biker again. I think that was the order of the gimmicks at least. Pro wrestling is fun, and that's a shoot, brother.
Anyway, squaring that away helped me see everything else quite clearly. POETIC and PAPER landed next to each other. I figured they were linked by "wax," and that led me to the purples. To "wax poetic" means to talk in a long-winded way, perhaps getting increasingly enthusiastic.
It was a toss up for me as to which group were the greens and yellows. But I guessed correctly, and submitted the greens then the yellows.
Also, the ROCK, PAPER and SCISSORS red herring was fun, but a very obvious trap. So I didn't feel bad about giving that away in the level two hints.
A perfect game takes me to win 115 on the bounce. Here's my grid:

That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. I'll be back with you all here on Monday. In the meantime, you can check out my weekend editions of this column in my newsletter, Pastimes. Have an excellent weekend.
P.S. You might have been expecting me to recommend something pro wrestling-related here. But no! That would have been too easy (I was tempted, I admit). Instead, I'm going for something that ties into the yellows.
It's been a long time since I've seen Be Kind, Rewind, but I remember liking it quite a bit. It's a sweet film, a bit of a love letter to cinema. The trailer gives away the entire plot, but the story doesn't really matter much with this one. It's all about heart, humor and creativity:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and others! Call someone you love!

Angel Reese Sends Strong Message Following Exciting Announcement

Angel Reese Sends Strong Message Following Exciting Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While much of the spotlight is currently on the basketball court with the WNBA season in full swing, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese continues to make a major impact off the court as well. Advertisement This week, Reese—partnering with Cash App—announced the unveiling of a custom-designed public basketball court at Oakwood Beach in Chicago. The vibrant court features a bold message: "This court is brought to you by your good friends Angel Reese and Cash App." Now in just her second season with the Sky, Reese has already become deeply involved in the local community. On Friday, ahead of Chicago's matchup against the Phoenix Mercury, she was asked about the court and the inspiration behind it. 'Obviously, I didn't know exactly what it was going to look like,' Reese said. 'I knew they were doing the court, and that's something I really emphasize—giving back to the community. Chicago has poured so much into me. They've done so many great things for me in just a year and a half, and I'm super happy to call this place home. I've had a lot of people send me selfies there. It's right by the water—people didn't even realize Chicago has water like that—but it's really nice. The feedback has been amazing.' Since entering the league, Angel Reese has expanded her brand beyond basketball, landing several high-profile partnerships. Among them, Cash App has been a key collaborator, but she's also inked deals with major brands like Hershey, Beats by Dre, McDonald's, and most notably Reebok, which is set to release her signature shoe in 2026. Advertisement Drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft out of LSU, Reese has been a consistent bright spot on a team still finding its footing. The Sky finished 13–27 last season and are off to a 3–8 start this year, but Reese's development has remained steady, solidifying her status as one of the league's brightest young stars. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5).Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Currently, she stands as the WNBA's only player averaging a double-double, with 11.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game—positioning her well for what could be a second consecutive All-Star appearance. With new album out soon, country star has already ‘got ideas' for next one

Cole Swindell will release his newest album later this month and the chart-topping country music star is already starting to think of material for his next project. 'We had room on this album for some love songs, but no dad songs or baby songs,' the 41-year-old, who will welcome his first daughter with his wife, Courtney Little, in August, told MassLive. 'I can already tell you I've got ideas in my phone ready to write those, and I feel pretty confident the next project will definitely have some songs about my little girl and just being a dad,' Swindell said. 'The pressure of writing my wedding song was a lot, but writing a song for my little girl is going to be next level.' When Swindell isn't singing or writing songs, he is usually playing golf just outside his Nashville home. The musician recognizes that once his daughter arrives, he may be spending more time in the nursery than on the course. But before Swindell trades in his golf clubs for baby bottles, the singer will celebrate the release of his fifth album 'Spanish Moss' on Friday, June 27. The album's release date coincides with a stretch of summer shows, including one at Indian Ranch in Webster on Sunday, June 15. After returning from Cody Johnson's Australian and New Zealand shows in March, Swindell is ready to 'kick off the summer in one of my favorite areas in the country.' 'I definitely love Mass. I just love the area,' Swindell said, adding the energy he gets from the state's crowds is 'just unmatched every time.' 'Mass. has always been good to me, so it's going to be cool to play some of these songs for the first time up there,' he said. A Georgia native, Swindell burst onto the country music scene with his 2013 multi-platinum song 'Chillin It.' The hit single topped the U.S. Country Songs chart before Swindell's platinum-certified, self-titled debut album arrived in February 2014. The singer saw further success with the hits 'Ain't Worth The Whiskey' and 'Let Me See Ya Girl,' which charted at No. 1 and No. 2 on the U.S Country Airplay Chart, respectively. Swindell rounded out a whirlwind of a year when he won the ACM New Artist of the Year Award in April 2015. As Swindell's career progressed, he tapped into his songwriter abilities by crafting more emotional ballads such as 'You Should Be Here,' 'Middle of a Memory' and 'Break Up In The End.' The tracks — all of which charted and were certified at least double platinum — appeared on Swindell's second and third albums, 'You Should Be Here' and 'All of It,' respectively. 'As a songwriter, this is kind of how I get to tell my story and things I've been through or going through, or whatever that may be,' Swindell said of his deeper cuts. 'For a guy like me that puts my feelings on paper and out to the world, I just think there's going to be a lot of people out there that are going to already know exactly how it feels.' By April 2022, Swindell had released his fourth album, 'Stereotype.' The project contained the powerhouse hit 'Never Say Never' with Lainey Wilson and the Top 40 smash 'She Had Me At Heads Carolina.' The track won Swindell three ACM Awards in 2023 and remained in the Top 5 at country radio for 23 consecutive weeks. Overall, Swindell has racked up 13 No. 1 singles as an artist and 14 as a songwriter in the 11 years since his debut on Warner Music Nashville. He returned with the heartfelt 'Forever To Me' in April 2024, which served as the lead single for 'Spanish Moss.' In addition to 'Forever To Me,' Swindell has already released seven racks from the upcoming project, including the title track, 'Bottom of It,' 'Dirty Dancing,' 'Kill A Prayer,' 'One Day' and 'We Can Always Move On.' The latter, which is actually Swindell's wife's favorite on the album, is about taking advantage of the time couples have together before calling it quits. 'I just thought the angle of that was unique,' Swindell said. 'It definitely, I think, grabs you at the very beginning and doesn't let you go. It's a jam for sure and I hope it's a lot of people's favorite song this summer.' With 21 tracks, 'Spanish Moss' is Swindell's longest project to date. The album is mostly inspired by Swindell getting engaged and marrying his wife over the past two years. The couple formally announced in March that they were expecting their first child. All these life happenings brought the musician back to crafting emotional songs that make up a majority of the tracks on 'Spanish Moss,' even those inspired by less joyous times. '[While] I'm in this season of my life — one year married, a kid on the way — that doesn't erase the fact of my past and the tough things I've been through whether it's relationship-wise or whatever,' Swindell said. 'To be able to sing about where I'm right now and kind of where I've been, I think is what's important about this album and I think it's going to be something that people can relate to.' Swindell is mostly excited to play these songs — new and old — live given all he has been through recently. He is especially looking forward to performing in front of crowds who are 'passionate about everything in life,' specifically those in Massachusetts. 'If I'm going to be anywhere playing a show, I'm excited that it's up there,' Swindell said. Once he wraps up his summer shows, Swindell will officially embark on his 'Happy Hour Sad Tour' on Sept. 4. The tour will include 20 shows and feature supporting acts Priscilla Block, Logan Crosby and Greylan James. Tickets for the tour can be found on Swindell's website.
