NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Thursday, June 19: Clues And Answers For Today's Game
Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Wednesday's:
Hey there, Connectors! I hope your week is going as deliciously as possible.
I've had a full beard for a long time. It's been over 10 years since I've been clean shaven. I'm still claiming that despite a recent mishap.
While using a new electric razor/clipper thing that I picked up, I accidentally buzzed pretty much all of my beard off. I tidy my face fuzz in the shower instead of the sink to make cleaning up easier, but there's no mirror (not that I'd see much without my glasses on anyway). You'd think that I'd at least feel what I'm doing, but nope. It's pure vibes for me.
It wasn't all gone. The clipper left some stubble, so I can still say I wasn't clean shaven.
There is a lesson here for me, I think. Maybe it's not always best to jump into something new with both feet. A little caution might be the best course of action.
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.
Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Thursday, June 19 are coming right up.
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app.
You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.
There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.
Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.
Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.
Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today's Connections groups, I'll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them.

I enjoyed the FINAL DESTINATION reference on the top line. Those horror films are invariably good, gory fun. The latest one became available to rent and buy digitally this week. I've heard positive things about Final Destination Bloodlines, so I'm looking forward to catching it this weekend.
(Seeing TRAIN and STOPS together on the top line was amusing too. The train in the original Final Destination did not stop. If you know, you know.)
Oh yeah, we've got a Connections puzzle to solve! Let's do that.
The yellows fit together easily enough in my mind. HOMEWORK was a dead giveaway there.
I then took a stab at BALL, MASKS, GLOVES and JACKETS, thinking they'd be related to a masquerade ball. That left me one away from a group. I realized a moment later that I was actually looking for fencing gear, so I swapped out BALL for FOILS (one of the weapons used in fencing). I was a little surprised to see that was the purple group.
(I was stumped for a hint, so I went for a pun on "fencing." Please don't be mad <3)
The greens jumped out at me after that. That left the blues. I did figure out the connection before submitting those. I wonder how many people have played with JACKS this century.
No perfect game this time, because I am too gosh darn hasty. Still, that's win 114 for my latest streak. Here's the grid:

P.S. Last week, I saw Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins play a bunch of Pumpkins songs with a band that was not the Pumpkins, but included another one of the Pumpkins. The tour marks the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and the 25th anniversary of Machina/The Machines of God.
The show was… fine? It was fun to hear Corgan and crew play the likes of "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "Tonight Tonight" in a small, sub-1,000-capacity venue. I had been looking forward to this show and, as I often do, I checked the setlist for previous dates. I was happy to see that the previous few had five-song encores, including my absolute favorite Pumpkins song, "Stand Inside Your Love."
On this night, however, the encore was only one song long. Don't get me wrong, it was cool to see former Pumpkins bass player (and Montreal native) Melissa Auf der Maur make a guest appearance on "The Everlasting Gaze" to close the night, but I was sad not to hear "Stand Inside Your Love" live for the second time in my life.
Anyway, since I've recommended that song and "Tonight Tonight" in this column previously, let's go with "Disarm" (a track from Siamese Dream that I didn't hear the other night) rather than a sonically heavier Pumpkins track:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and others! Call someone you love!

NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Sunday, June 22nd
Hints, clues and answers for today's Connections are here. Looking for Saturday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: I'm a little late to this Connections guide. My apologies. It was my birthday this weekend and I guess I was just too distracted by this fact – either that, or I'm just so old now that my memory is leaving me – but I absolutely spaced publishing this when I normally do. But I'm here now to help you with this tricky puzzle, so let's dive right in! How To Play Connections Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles. What Are Today's Connections Hints? These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. Today's Sunday Connections What Are Today's Connections Groups? Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: What Are Today's Connections Answers? The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: Today's Connections answers The tricky word in this batch was WIRE which I plugged in first with ENTOURAGE, EUPHORIA, INSECURE and SUCCESSION – all HBO shows. Well, I was right about the HBO shows, but wrong about WIRE (despite The Wire being one of the greatest shows ever made). It was actually INSECURE, the one show in this list I'm not as familiar with. I realized WIRE could go with BULLETIN and then put those with FLASH and REPORT and that worked for yellow. When I saw LIFE, LIBERTY and PURSUIT and I realized they all paired nicely with HAPPINESS. Once I'd gotten the last HBO show I plugged in the remaining four, despite not knowing how they connected. But they really all do mean 'left' in one form or another. Tricky one today! How did you do on today's Connections? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky or Facebook. Also be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow me here on this blog. You Asked: Best soundbars for Sony TVs and which budget Samsung QD-OLED should you choose?
On today's episode of You Asked: What's the best soundbar to pair with a Sony TV? Should you consider upgrading from the LG C3? Which Samsung QD-OLED offers the best value? And what's the best big-screen TV that won't break the bank? Best Soundbars for Your Sony TV Scott S asks: I just took the plunge and purchased the 77-inch Sony A95L to replace my 10-year-old Sony TV. Question is whether a good soundbar is worth it (assuming like a Sonos Arc) considering that I live in an apartment and the TV will only be about 10 feet away from the seating area. You have mentioned the great sound quality of the TV itself. Thanks for the question, Scott, and congrats on the new TV! The A95L is one of our all-time favorites. And while it does have solid sound quality, a top-tier TV like that deserves to be paired with something to elevate the listening experience and match the superior visuals. You mention the Sonos Arc, which is a great option, as is the Sonos Arc Ultra, which improves on an already great soundbar. I'd also say the Sonos Beam is worth taking a look at. It has a more subtle look that some prefer, but still packs the goods in terms of audio quality. I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but I'd also suggest the Sony Bravia Theater Quad, since you spared no expense on the TV purchase. The Theater Quad is not cheap, but it's a perfect pairing with your Sony TV and is well suited for your apartment. Sony's 360 Spatial Mapping does a great job dialing each speaker in based on placement. Plus, with its Acoustic Center Sync feature allowing the TV audio to act as the center channel, the Theater Quad is designed to handle odd placements throughout a room to give you the best immersive audio experience for watching shows and movies. It's also one of our favorite choices for music listening. If you want a more direct head-to-head comparison of the top choices between Sonos and Sony, we did a video on that not too long ago. You can also check out our best soundbars list. Upgrades from the LG C3 and Sony A80J? Nicolas Lacroix asks: I have had the pleasure of two OLED sets for a few years now: a Sony A80J and LG C3. What would be the upgrade path in 2025? What's going to look better? I want to go a bit bigger. My current sets are 55 inches and 65 inches, respectively. I'm also a latest gen console gamer. Talk about good problems to have — needing to upgrade your two OLED TVs. In terms of taking the next steps with two of the top TV brands, both known for outstanding picture quality, here are some options in case you're leaning one way or the other. On the Sony side, look at the Bravia 8 Mark II or the A95L. Coming from an A80J, both recommended options are equipped with QD-OLED panels, offering brighter, more vibrant, and pure colors. We've raved about the A95L to no end, and the Bravia 8 Mark II should only improve on it. However, since you mentioned wanting to go bigger than your 55-inch A80J, if you're looking at 65 inches or certainly 77, the price difference between the A95L and Bravia 8 Mark II is significant. The 65-inch A95L is currently on sale for $2,900, while the Bravia 8 Mark II sits at $4,000. Also, the Bravia 8 Mark II is not available above 65 inches. So if you're planning to purchase a pair of TVs, you might want to save where you can, and I'm not sure you'll see $1,200 worth of difference. Some even rate the A95L higher than its 'successor.' When it comes to gaming, the differences are tiny. Both have the same inputs: two HDMI 2.1 ports and two HDMI 2.0. Both support 4K 120Hz gaming and VRR with virtually zero difference in input lag. As for upgrading from your LG C3, that's still a great TV and just two years old. But if you must, I'd say jump past the C-series to the LG G5 to see a real, noticeable improvement worth spending thousands of dollars on. The four-stack OLED panel significantly improves brightness and color purity, taking the G5 beyond the already excellent G4. I mention the G4 because the new G5 costs a pretty penny, and the G4 is also a notable step up from your C3, just in case you want to save a bit. Both have four HDMI 2.1 inputs, plus a full slate of gaming features like 4K high refresh rates and VRR, making them great choices for gamers wanting to connect multiple consoles and audio devices. Samsung S95C vs. S90D: Which Should You Buy? @hermievanzyl9649 asks: For the same price, is the Samsung S95C or S90D a better option to buy and why? These are both excellent TVs. As someone who has a 2023 Samsung TV as their daily driver, I've come to love it — the picture quality holds up extremely well and the user interface is just as snappy as day one. When it comes to the two you mentioned, the S90D is a little brighter than the S95C and has slightly better picture processing. That's not saying the S95C is bad — far from it. Unless you put them side by side, I don't know if you'd notice a difference, and even then it's splitting hairs. The biggest difference is the One Connect Box that comes with the S95C. It lets you connect your external devices to the box instead of directly to the TV, giving you more flexibility with your setup, especially if your TV is hard to reach or mounted to the wall. So, if you want that setup versatility, go with the S95C. If you want slightly improved image quality, go with the S90D. I'll also say — when I saw this question, I thought, 'Where are they finding the S95C for that price right now?' Sure enough, there are a few places with it under $2,000. A solid deal for a QD-OLED, even if it's a 2023 model. Best Affordable Huge TVs Worth Buying? @Pimpincrispy1978 asks: What is the most affordable 98- to 100-inch TV that is still worth buying? I'm guessing Samsung Crystal UHD is a hard no? I'm looking for another TV that I can enjoy for another 10 years or so. Hey, you said it, not me. I'm going to go with a hard pass on the Crystal UHD, especially because Samsung has that DU9000 98-inch listed for $2,500 right now. For that money, you're still getting a pretty basic LED TV with basic HDR performance. For affordability, you should check out options from TCL and Hisense. The TCL QM6K is on sale for less than that Samsung, and you're getting a Quantum Dot Mini LED panel that supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio, and faster refresh rates. The QM7K only improves on that if you want to spend a bit more. The same goes for Hisense with the 100-inch U7 from 2024. It's on Amazon now for $1,900 and offers quantum dot color with full array local dimming, Dolby Vision and Atmos — the works. I know you're concerned with longevity, but I can't guarantee any TV will last 10 years. They should, and some will, depending on how much and how you use it. But I wouldn't pay more for a lesser TV just for a brand name.

SHE'S ALL THAT Stars Rachael Leigh Cook & Freddie Prinze Jr. to Reunite in Holiday Movie THE CHRISTMAS AFFAIR — GeekTyrant
She's All That stars Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr. are set to reunite 26 years after their 1999 hit teen film in a new holiday movie titled The Christmas Affair . The duo will also reunite with Jennifer Gibgot, co-producer of She's All That , who will produce on the Fox Entertainment Studios project, which is currently in development. The Christmas Affair follows superstar sportscasters Natalie (Cook) and Gabe (Prinze Jr.), who form an unlikely alliance after their spouses are caught cheating weeks before Christmas. As holiday chaos and media attention mount, they begin to fall for each other. But is this just a rebound…or the start of a real Christmas romance? 'Fox Entertainment Studios is excited to grant the Christmas wish of countless holiday romcom fans with the long-awaited reunion of Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook,' said Hannah Pillemer, Head of Scripted at Fox Entertainment Studios. 'This iconic couple stole our hearts over 25 years ago, and we are grateful to work with them on this all-new romantic comedy filled with holiday magic.' The project will be the first time since She's All That that the pair will appear on screen together; however, they reunited at Prinze Jr.'s latest film premiere for The Girl in the Pool last year. This sounds super cheesy, but fun for the people who love these formulaic holiday movies. If nothing else, it will be fun to see Cook and Prinze reunite. via: Deadline
