Red Sea alert: Houthis to target US ships if Washington backs Israel
Shafaq News/ On Saturday, Yemen's Ansarallah (Houthis) threatened to target the US interests in the Red Sea if Washington supports Israeli military operations against Iran. 'If the US involves in an attack and aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy, the armed forces will target its ships and warships in the Red Sea,' the group wrote on X. The Houthis described Israel as 'the aggressor against Iran,' referencing previous operations in Gaza and current attacks on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. It further accused Tel Aviv of seeking regional dominance, allegedly underwritten both openly and strategically by the United States. The movement explained that the objective of this project is to 'confiscate the freedom, independence, and dignity of our nation,' while also aiming to erode the region's identity, occupy land, exploit resources, and normalize violations of sacred sites and human life. The statement comes amid reports indicating that the United States is preparing to support Israel militarily in its confrontation with Iran. Tensions have sharply escalated following Israel's launch of Operation Rising Lion, a campaign of targeted strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites. The operation has killed several senior commanders from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and several key nuclear scientists. Iran responded with True Promise 3, its most extensive direct attack on Israeli territory to date. The retaliatory operation has so far included 18 waves of missile and drone strikes.

‘Targeting India': Canada confirms Khalistani extremists operating from its soil
Canada's top intelligence agency has officially acknowledged that a 'small group' of Canada-based Khalistani extremists (CBKEs) continue to pose a threat to national security by using Canadian soil to promote, fund or plan acts of violence, primarily targeting India. 'Only a small group of individuals are considered Khalistani extremists because they continue to use Canada as a base for the promotion, fundraising or planning of violence primarily in India,' the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) said in its latest annual report to parliament. CSIS claimed that such activity falls under politically motivated violent extremism (PMVE), which it defines as the use of violence to bring about new political systems or changes to existing ones. 'Politically motivated violent extremism (PMVE) encourages the use of violence to establish new political systems or new structures or norms within existing systems. PMVE actors engage in the planning, financing and facilitating of attacks, globally, in order to establish new political systems or entities,' CSIS wrote. According to CSIS, since the mid-1980s, PMVE in Canada has been most visible in the form of CBKEs 'seeking to use and support violent means to create an independent nation state called Khalistan, largely within Punjab, India.' While no CBKE-linked attacks were recorded on Canadian soil in 2024, CSIS warned that the threat remains active. 'While there were no CBKE-related attacks in Canada in 2024, ongoing involvement in violent activities by CBKEs continues to pose a national security threat to Canada and Canadian interests,' CSIS said. CSIS also highlighted its role in monitoring emerging threats and supporting the Government of Canada's terrorist listing process. The report added that in October 2024, Samidoun, also known as the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, was designated a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code. 'In December 2024, the Government of Canada also listed Ansarallah (Houthis), a Yemen-based group, as a terrorist entity. Ansarallah attacked dozens of maritime vessels in the Red Sea in the past year and is closely linked to the IRGC-Qods Force and Hezbollah, two other listed terrorist entities in Canada,' CSIS added.

First Houthi missile strike in support of Iran targets Israel
Shafaq News / Yemen's Houthi movement (Ansarallah) announced on Saturday the launch of its first direct missile operation in support of Iran, striking Israeli targets in the Jaffa area with Palestine-2 ballistic missiles. According to Spokesperson Yehya Saree, the group was coordinated with the Iranian army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC,) affirming that it had 'achieved its objectives.' The missile strikes, conducted over the past 24 hours, mark a new chapter in the regional confrontation following Israel's Operation Rising Lion and Iran's retaliatory Operation True Promise 3, which included mass drone and missile launches targeting Israeli military and nuclear sites. Saree urged Arab and Islamic peoples to act decisively and described jihad as 'one of the gates to paradise.' Earlier this week, Abdullah Al-Nuami, a member of the Houthis' political bureau, told Shafaq News, 'The group will stand firmly with Iran and will never abandon it in the face of any American or Israeli aggression.'

Houthis vow deeper strikes into Israel in retaliation for regional attacks
Shafaq News/ Yemen plans to escalate its military campaign in response to Israeli operations across the region, a senior figure aligned with the Houthis (Ansarallah) revealed on Saturday. Adel Rajeh, a member of the Justice and Development Party's Central Committee, told Shafaq News that Yemen remains the 'most active front supporting Gaza,' frequently launching missiles and drones toward Israeli targets. 'More advanced weapons will soon strike deeper inside Israeli territory in retaliation for attacks on Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, and Syria,' Rajeh warned. He said that Sanaa has partially imposed an aerial and naval blockade on Israel, complicating its defense strategy, adding that Israeli warships targeted Yemeni ports to disrupt Houthi drone operations. Rajeh acknowledged a 'temporary lull' from other Iran-aligned factions such as Hezbollah and Iraqi factions but asserted they remain active and will soon take more visible action. 'Yemen will play a pivotal role in delivering precise and impactful strikes against the Zionist entity [Israel] using advanced systems,' he declared, positioning the country as a key force in the regional conflict with Israel.
