Mob targeted in Edinburgh gang war recruit new enforcer to replace slain gangster
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A mob caught up in the ongoing Edinburgh gang war have warned they have recruited a new enforcer. A new group calling themselves the "A Team" recently hit back at those orchestrating a series of firebombings and shootings in Edinburgh and Glasgow and laughed-off recent incidents. A number of chilling threats have been issued from the Daniel and Mark Richardson outfit on social media as they say a new enforcer has been recruited to replace slain Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll. Earlier in the week they said "bullets win" and warned retribution was coming the way of Dubai-based gangster Ross McGill who is believed to be behind continuous attacks across the central belt. As the Record reports, the threats have been issued in wake of the double-murder of Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan in Spain. A message from the "A Team" told rival operatives: "You allegedly got rid of this man out of total fear. RIP, Gerbil. He would have terrorised you. A real soldier, like our new friend who has replaced him." In a series of mocking posts they branded former Rangers "ultra" McGill a "keyboard gangster" who was engaged in "school boy" attacks via his TMJ gang. Another message read: "Take your wannabe joke of a clan and come back when you are all man enough to handle stuff like men." Feared Daniels enforcer Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll was gunned down in 2010 as he sat in the back seat of an Audi in the Asda car park in Robroyston. The son-in-law of mobster Jamie Daniel was known for kidnapping and torturing rival drug dealers in attacks dubbed "alien abductions". Ross Monaghan was arrested over the shooting but was acquitted after a judge at the High Court in Glasgow ruled there was insufficient evidence to convict him. William 'Buff' Paterson, 45, was later convicted of the murder in 2015 and sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison. Earlier this week the Record revealed around a dozen senior members from the Daniel clan and Richardson mob had fled Scotland. An underworld source said: "Nobody knows exactly where they have gone or how long for but most of them are believed to be in Dubai and the rest are in the Costa del Sol. Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages "The TMJ gang were watching closely and hoping to catch one of them out in the open but all of a sudden they just upped sticks and left." The move came after Spanish cops blamed the double execution of Lyons Jnr and pal Ross Monaghan on "an internal member of the Daniel gang". Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said: "We have been assisting Spanish colleagues with their investigation into the fatal shootings in Fuengirola. "We are not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge." Michael Riley, 44, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in connection with the shooting in Spain on Thursday. The total number of arrests in connection with the investigation Operation Portaledge is 48.

Ed Sheeran Delivers Love Letter to India on New Song "Sapphire," His "Favorite" Track on Upcoming Album ‘Play'
Yara Sameh Ed Sheeran's love for India showcased on his new song 'Sapphire,' which dropped alongside an adventurous music video Thursday. On the effervescent dance track, the British pop star mixes percussion elements of traditional Indian music with his signature absurdly catchy melodies, singing about never wanting to stop dancing with a lover whose aura shimmers just like the blue diamond for which the song is named. 'We are surrounded but I can only see/ The lights, your face, your eyes/ Exploding like fireworks in the sky,' Sheeran sings on the track. Adding flair to the recording are vocals and sitar provided by Indian artist Arijit Singh, who also appears with the four-time Grammy winner in the 'Sapphire' music video. Filmed across various locations in India during Sheeran's tour through the country earlier this year, the visual keeps the English musician in the center of the frame as he walks through bustling streets, explores beaches, visits tourist spots, hangs out with locals and sings with a team of youth soccer players. His companion in those sites is often Singh, with whom Sheeran sings in Punjabi, 'ਚਮ-ਚਮ ਚਮਕੇ ਸਿਤਾਰੇ ਵਰਗੀ' — which translates to 'They sparkle just like stars,' according to YouTube's captions. ''Sapphire' was the first song I finished for Play that made me know where the album was heading,' wrote the 'A Team' singer in a statement, referring to his September-slated LP. 'It's why I finished the recording process in Goa surrounded by some of the best musicians in India.' 'The final jigsaw piece for me was getting Arijit on the record,' he added. 'Me and him have done a full Punjabi version of the song that will come out in the next few weeks, which has a lot more of him on it. This is the album version of the song, and my favorite song on the album. Hope you guys love it.' 'Sapphire' follows previous Play singles 'Azizam' and 'Old Phone,' the latter of which dropped at the beginning of May. Arriving September 12, the new album will serve as the first in Sheeran's next series of LPs, marking a departure from his yearslong mathematics-themed saga. 'Play was an album that was made as a direct response to the darkest period of my life,' he recently wrote on Instagram. 'Coming out of all of that I just wanted to create joy and technicolor, and explore cultures in the countries I was touring. It's a real rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish, it encapsulates everything that I love about music, and the fun in it, but also where I am in life as a human, a partner, a father.' Cecily Strong makes surprise return to 'SNL' as cast mocks Jeanine Pirro and Pete Hegseth
The latest episode of " Saturday Night Live" saw cast alum Cecily Strong make a surprise return to play former New York prosecutor and television host Jeanine Pirro. Strong appeared in the episode's cold open alongside James Austin Johnson as President Donald Trump, who recently named the real Pirro as interim US Attorney for Washington, D.C. The sketch began by returning to a popular topic in recent weeks, Trump's controversial tariff policies, with Johnson wondering: "Can a country go out of business? We're going to find out." But he soon moved on to some "good news," telling the audience he had "just appointed one of the loudest people I know to be the US attorney in D.C.: Jeanine Pirro." Trump announced the Fox News host as the interim top prosecutor for DC in a post on Truth Social earlier this week, saying she was "incredibly well qualified" for the role. "Jeanine will be the newest addition to my incredible team in my administration," Johnson's Trump added, after Strong entered to rapturous applause. "And what a team, Mr. President," Strong's Pirro responded. "I'm so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, booze hounds, and people famous for the little baby animals they've killed." Johnson's Trump also touted Pirro as a "great legal mind" and said she had the "most important quality I look for in a lawyer — she's on TV." Strong has impersonated Pirro on "SNL" several times, most memorably on "Weekend Update," where a running gag has included her doing a spit take directed at the segment's anchor, Colin Jost. The latest episode brought back this joke after Jost joined the sketch as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. "I love Pete Hegseth. He's my old drinking buddy," Strong's Pirro said as Jost entered the scene. "I promised I would never have a bottle touch my lips," Jost told Johnson's Trump, before Strong covered the open-mouthed star in wine. "Aw yeah. That's the stuff," Jost's Hegseth said. Johnson's Trump ended the sketch: "Folks, they're not the A Team. They're the AA Team." Elsewhere in the episode, "The White Lotus" star Walton Goggins took on hosting duties for the first time, acknowledging his newfound "sex symbol" status following his much-lauded performance on the hit show. "Some of my friends have even asked me, 'Walton, what's it like to become a sex symbol at 53 years old?'" he said. "You know what, if I'm being honest, it feels fantastic," he continued. "At least it did until I Googled myself and read some of the headlines."

Lennon Miller owns best Scotland player 'rogue shout' as he's hit with epic one liner after initiation song
He's the prodigy who boasts a dizzying array of skills which have made him the hottest commodity in Scottish football and now you can add self-deprecation to the list. Lennon Miller is already a master of defying convention by captaining Motherwell at the age of 18 and his deft touch in a tight situation extends beyond the pitch. The Well star – in the running for PFA Scotland's young player of the year alongside Arne Engels , Hamza Igamane and James Wilson – expertly reflected on the fallout from his vow to become Scotland's star turn "within a couple of months" with the nous of a grizzled veteran. He understands the vast majority of this football-mad nation took no issue with one of our finest talents talking himself up and he was grateful that was an opinion shared by national team boss Steve Clarke . Miller said: "Listen, it's obviously not come across like I have meant to say it. I believe in my ability, I want to be the best young player, I want to be the best player in Scotland. "But the few months' shout was a bit rogue, to say the least. I want to try and be the best player for Scotland. "To have the manager's backing was nice, But I tried to show during the week that I could back those comments up. "You see (team-mates) every day in the camp, you can take bits from them. I watched McTominay , Napoli are going to probably win the league. "That is where you want to be, that is what you want to do as a football player. I know I have a long way to go to become the best. I try to take bits from everyone's game and hopefully I get there." Miller's big predictions registered within the camp but there was an understanding from Scotland's international standouts that his proclamation was aired with the best of intentions. He added: "There were a few jokes, they all kind of understood what I was trying to say and knew it was a mistake. "It is a good thing (to believe in himself) but a few months is probably ridiculous, to be honest with you. "The comments were kind of correct, obviously a few words wrong, but it is what I want to be. There are positives to it, I just need to do it in my own time." But Miller didn't escape a gentle ribbing as players in the audience for his musical performance on Scotland debut were armed with a one-liner which riffed on his bold prediction. And the national team's most notorious prankster was front and centre of the chicanery. Miller joked: "Probably John McGinn, he was right up there. I play with his brother [Paul], so I expected it. I heard from his brother, and I knew from his brother and I knew that was coming. "I did my initiation song (A Team by Ed Sheeran)'......after it they were like 'Aye, it was alright, but maybe in a few weeks you'll be the best.'' Miller can see the funny side of his comments, of course, but he is deadly serious about what he expects from his own career. And the versatile midfielder is aiming to stay in the moment rather than cast a glance at frenzied transfer speculation surrounding him. Celtic, Udinese and Tony Bloom-backed Union Saint Gilloise are among the sides who retain long-standing interest in a player who will smash the Fir Park transfer record set when David Turnbull headed to Celtic Park for £3.25million five years ago. He added: "It's part of football, if you are doing well as a young player then you are going to get speculation. "I tend to not look at it. I just keep my head down and focus on Motherwell and try and get the best results until the end of the season." "I try to stay in the moment and not look forward to anything. I am a Motherwell player and I will see where that takes me in the summer." While many 18-year-olds are still trying to turn heads at academy level Miller is pondering the differences between Stuart Kettlewell and Michael Wimmer with one rewarding him with the captaincy and the other retaining him as the on-pitch leader. And the man tasked with getting the message across sees key differences between Kettlewell and the German tasked with keeping Motherwell away from the relegation trap door as they sit seven points clear of Ross County. Miller said: "I knew Stuart Kettlewell really well from my academy days, he was my U18 coach for a good while. "It was tough to see him leave, but as players we need to adapt to it. A new manager, a foreign manager, the language barrier, but the manager's English is better than some of us. "You have got different training, different days off, people need to adapt and I think we have adapted really well. "There have been certain tweaks which he has made, which every new manager would make. "I was playing further forward under the old manager and now I have dropped back. It's just playing different styles, different positions. I am enjoying learning different things from him. "There has been loads more responsibility, I think that comes from having the armband. I think you feel you need to be more responsible, more of a leader than I was last year. "It's obviously different styles, the old manager was maybe more defensive, sitting in, breaking out and this manager [Wimmer] is more high-pressing, it is learning different things from him. "I feel I have become a better player."
